Tomorrow came early for Therese.
She could not believe it was already Sunday, the day when she would finally move in with Raven Desmond and his son. Technically, “moving in” wasn’t the right term. She convinced herself that what she was about to do was nothing but work. She had to maintain professionalism even if her guts would be rearranged every night. Her heartbeat rose when she thought about what was to come. “Good morning, Ms. Barlow. Please, let me help you with that.” The cheerful voice of a man wearing a neat bun greeted him the moment she stepped out of her house. He was wearing a smile so wide that it made his eyes disappear. The sun was shining brightly and the wind was kind enough to dry her lightly wet hair from the shower. After their meeting yesterday, Raven told her that he would make an arrangement for her. Someone would pick her up and drive her to his place where everything was prepared for her. She couldn’t sleep then. “Uhm, thank you.” Therese handed him her luggages as the two headed towards a parked silver Lexus LS. Her jaw almost dropped at the sight of the expensive car. When she made herself comfortable inside, reality suddenly sank in. She turned to the window to watch the moving trees. She couldn't believe was about to live in one of the Desmond mansions! “I’m Jayce Perez. Raven’s best bro. Don’t tell him though, he would never admit to that.” He winked playfully towards her direction through the rearview mirror. Something about this man made her feel comfortable. He had a certain beauty that resembled the sun on a beautiful day. She helped him ease her nervousness without even trying. “You can call me Therese. I’m uh…the newly hired babysitter.” “Oh, I already know you. I also know about your spicy babysitter deal.” He said plainly. She blushed in embarrassment and looked away. She couldn’t think of an appropriate response for that. But Jayce just chuckled at her reaction like it was no big deal. “Don’t worry, I don’t judge you for that or anything. I’m actually excited for you to meet our little Keith already.” Right. The 5-year old toddler that she was about to babysit. Therese remembered asking Raven about his son but he told her that it was better for her to just meet him in person. He just gave her vague details about his personality like him being shy and slowly warming up to strangers. It was one of the reasons why no babysitters or attendants were lasting long in the job. Not for long, though. Because Keith piqued Therese’s curiosity and if things went well, she was planning to stay for a while there. “What was he like, by the way?” She asked. Jayce gazed over to her in the mirror then back to the road. He saw the sparkle in his eyes at her question. “He is lovely and quiet. He looks so much like his father. I hope it stays that way until he grows up cause I don’t wanna see the face of his bitch mother in him.” At the mention of Keith’s mother, Therese stopped breathing. If she noticed how Jayce's voice was suddenly glazed with a deep anger, she didn’t say a word. Therese knew that it was a topic for a different place and a different time. And if she was being honest, she saw Raven as the type to abandon fatherhood and live his life drowning in sex and money alone. She thought that Keith was just a byproduct of him sleeping around. But, maybe she was wrong. Maybe she would ask him later. For now, she continued listening to Jayce. Therese decided she would approach things with an open mind. “Keith was the opposite of his father in everything and it’s funny. I always tell Raven that Keith was all the good things plucked out of him and molded to a little boy and he wouldn’t believe me anytime.” A nostalgic smile creeped up his face. Therese returned the smile and nodded. “I can’t wait to finally meet him.” Suddenly, her phone vibrated. It revealed a text message from her best friend: I told you this was a bad idea. She closed her eyes and put it away. Jayce stepped on the breaks and finally, they arrived at the mansion. “We’re here!” He was the first to step out of the car and open the door for her. She gasped audibly the moment her eyes met the Desmond mansion. Once again, she felt like she was a character in some fantasy book witnessing magic for the first time. “Wow, is this…am I really going to live here?” The house was magnificent. She could tell by the shiny black and silver columns of the modern foyer that it was done exquisitely. Everything was surrounded by glass – from the huge window panes and parts of the ceiling. Therese felt like everything she was about to touch would fall apart. She was scared to step foot inside. “Relax. You won’t break anything.” Jayce laughed as if he was reading her mind. “Don’t be scared. Just follow me and you’ll be safe.” Jayce walked freely on the entryway, as he led Therese inside. When the two of them entered the receiving area, she realized her fascination was endless. “Do people really live in houses like this?” “Uh huh.” It was so spacious and minimalist. The whole interior was screaming silent luxury as her eyes were blessed with natural light and accent plants. It was a comfortable atmosphere and the wooden floor was warm. She realized by now that some depictions of rich life in fiction weren't really accurate. In reality, places like this exist. Huge but liveable. “Jayce, who is she?” An unfamiliar voice from behind caught their attention. It sounded…flat and small like it was coming from a child. “Hey, little bro! Nice to see you again!” Jayce ran towards him and enclosed his little body in a tight embrace. Therese turned to the direction of the voice and lo and behold, she saw a mini version of Raven Desmond looking up at her with a flat expression. He was wearing navy blue sleepwear coordinates while carrying a teddy bear securely. So, this was Keith Desmond. “Who is she?” Keith repeated to Jayce when he did not return his hug. Therese’s heart shattered into pieces. All she could see was a troubled kid. She cleared her throat and kneeled in front of him. “Hi there! I was told your name was Keith?” She made sure to wear the most genuine smile. The kid nodded, skeptical eyes studying her face. “My name’s Therese. I’ll be with you everyday. Nice to meet you!” “You mean…you’re my new attendant?” “Uh y-yeah. Something like that.” “How long will you stay here?” Therese’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “I’ll stay here everyd–” “Will you also leave me when you get tired of me like the rest of ‘em?” Did he mean his previous babysitters? Oh god, how many did he have before her? She opened and closed her mouth before looking at Jayce’s direction. The latter just laughed awkwardly. Therese noticed that Keith was articulate for his age. He was indeed an intelligent kid. But his behavior also indicated that he had too much internal turmoil for his age. She needed to talk to Raven about his poor child. “No, of course not! We’ll play and learn and eat together! I’ll make everyday fun for you. Aren’t you excited for that?” Therese gently reached for the child’s hand but he distanced himself from her coldly. “Liar. All you grown-ups do is lie. You’ll leave me just like everyone else.” Keith turned and ran with his little legs. He headed towards the stairs which Therese guessed was the path to his room. Silence followed afterwards. She couldn’t believe that such simple words could hurt her so much. “Give him some time. He’ll warm up to you eventually.” Jayce uttered beside her. “I know. Where’s Raven? I need to talk to him.” When the man stood up, he looked over his wristwatch to check the time. And as if on cue, his phone rang loudly. “Shoot! Sorry Therese, I gotta take this. Just uh…take that stairs and turn left. You’ll find Raven in the last room. Bye!” “W-wait!’ Jayce didn’t wait. He picked up the call and his voice slowly disappeared down the hallway. Therese took in her surroundings, realizing it was mostly empty. She tried her best to remember Jayce’s instructions until her feet led her to the said room. She knocked two, three times but no one answered so she decided to just use her voice. “Hello? Raven, it’s me–” “Ahhh…yes! Fuck!” Her eyes widened at the sound coming from the other side of the door. Slowly, Therese stepped forward to press her right ear over it. What she heard made her jaw drop. “H-haaa, Raven. Yes, right there…” “Ngh” This couldn’t possibly be what she was thinking of, right? With measured carefulness, Therese pushed the door that she thought was locked. It revealed an unbelievable scene that will forever be etched on her mind. It was something she shouldn’t have seen. When Raven turned to look at her in his unbuttoned polo shirt and trousers halfway down, she was like a deer caught in headlights. “Oh, you’re finally here.” He teasingly greeted while the naked blonde woman under him clung to his neck and licked a trail of saliva seductively up his ear.It felt like time was suspended in the air. Everything that surrounded Therese had stopped moving except for the two. Her eyes were as big as saucers as she watched in horror how Raven eagerly fucked the blonde girl under him. She couldn’t look away.“What the hell?” When she finally regained her composure, Therese quickly took a step back as she covered her eyes to hide the sinful scene away.“Don’t look away!” Raven commanded in a deep and hurried voice as he continued to smirk and pound the girl. “I want you to see a glimpse of what’s to come for you, baby.” He said in between heavy breaths and Therese found herself peeking between her fingers. Was he out of his mind?! Therese was speechless. “Hold on…I’m about to…” Her eyes were glued to Raven’s toned abs down his manhood that was plunging in and out of the woman’s dripping hole. She was on all fours now, letting out ah’s and oh god’s nonstop.“This is insane. You are insane.” Therese muttered as she swallowed hard. She thought she
Blood rushed to Kaia’s ear as she felt her heart thump wildly in her chest. Her eyes automatically darted between Keith and Aly. The woman beside her lifted her hands in the air, a gesture of surrender. Tears prickle Aly’s eyes and Therese looked behind her to meet the strangers’ eyes. There were two men. One was muscular while the other was lean and quite taller than the average guy. They were both wearing a black parka jacket and a cap to hide their faces. Only the muscular man was wearing a mask. Most importantly, he was pointing a gun towards Therese’s right rib.“Who are you?” She gathered enough courage to ask.“Hand over the kind and you won’t have to know.”“No!”One man chuckled ominously, sending shivers down Therese’s spine. “Are you his mother?”Her heart beat wild at the thought. She wasn’t sure if it was because of fear or for a completely different reason at all. “N-no.”“Then how about you pay what the Desmonds owe us instead?” Therese was trying her best to calm herse
“I will close my eyes and pray that he will ask me, how’s my day…”He already lost count of how many times he pressed the play button.Alone in the darkness of his room, Raven let the light coming from his phone strain his eyes. He didn’t know whether the tears blurring his vision was from too much screen time or from hearing his son’s words.“...will ask me, how’s my day.”He heaved a defeated sigh. Guilt ate him up. He cursed himself silently. He needs to fix things up.“Keith, buddy. Are you still up?” Raven swallowed his pride as he knocked over his kid’s room. The door opened gently and he was greeted by a pair of sleepy eyes and a curious look. Keith gawked at him like he'd seen a ghost.“Dad?” It was a rare occurrence for the father and son to talk like this.“I’ve seen your poetry performance.”“Oh.” Keith averted Raven’s eyes as light pink blush dusted the tips of his ears. Raven’s heart swelled at the cuteness of his son. Then, he did the unexpected.Raven carried Keith and
Raven is feeling a lot of things right now.Thank god, he was able to stop Therese from walking out the mansion and his life! He keeps convincing himself that he’s doing it for the sake of his son but deep down, he knows that there is something else. Something beyond things that involve Keith.Maybe that is why he is a nervous wreck too. He glanced at the clock and saw that it’s already 8:55 in the evening. 5 more minutes and Therese will finally be with him to receive his proper apology in the form of…you know what.He didn’t know why but his hands were sweating. His heart was banging wildly in his chest since this morning. He has been with many girls before but this is the first time he was self-conscious. Raven is not naive to what they had to say about him. He knows that girls fawn over him. He’s rich and handsome and even his body is to die for. If he’s being honest, there’s not much work to do on his part to get them drooling over him.Yet, he decided to spend a good hour inside
“Yokoso!”“Irrashaimase!”Therese couldn’t believe it. She’s finally in her dream country with the most important people in her life right now! If she would die today, she decided there is no better final memory to have. Knock on woods, though. She would still want to experience a lot of things with the two boys.“How are you feeling so far?” Beside her, Raven cradled the sleeping Keith as they boarded in Tokyo international airport. The weather was cold yet the feeling that spread on her chest at the sight of the two was warm. “I’m excited to explore the city! But I guess we need to rest first. Our little guy is knocked out right here.” She whispered-talk as she tiptoed to kiss Keith’s forehead gently. He chuckled as he tightened his hold on his son. “The hotel is not too far from here.”“I’m starving.”“Do you want to eat first or maybe we could just order in?”“Order in for now.” She smiled at the domesticity of it all.“Right. We have the whole week to explore anyways.”When Raven
RIIIIIINGGGG.Today is a beautiful day. Their professor’s sleepy voice was music to Therese’s ears and the boring subject was suddenly her favorite one.“Argh! I really hate that subject! Thank God it’s over.”“Sush, just double your efforts and you’ll be fine.”She was still riding her recent high from Japan and no one could ruin her mood today! Especially not her bestfriend’s foul one.“Wow, what happened to you, girl? You used to hate that prof and that subject more than me!” Aly’s face soured as the two walked to exit the school grounds.Therese browsed through her camera roll, smiling from ear to ear as she swiped through the tons of pictures she took with Raven and Keith. She’s alone in her own bubble now, Aly’s words disappeared in the background.“Hey, I haven’t seen that one yet!” Her bestfriend practically pounded behind her like a dog as she snatched her phone playfully. If today was a different day, she would’ve been pissed by her actions. But again, no one could ruin her
“Raven Desmond.”“You single, handsome?” Erika inched closer, batting her lashes while angling her body lower. Raven gulped hard when he saw her cleavage. “Eyes up. I asked you a question.”Oh god, how could she choose him out of everyone in the bar to flirt with? There was a very drunk and very cleary smitten Jayce beside her for fuck’s sake! She chuckled as satisfaction ran down her spine at the sight of his reaction. “I’d take your silence as a no, then?”“No, I’m…I’m single.” It was pure reflex. It’s not like he’s lying. He is, indeed, single. But the moment he said it, Therese’s face flashed in his mind.If he was still his past self, he wouldn’t hesitate to jump this woman’s skin.“Hmmm. Interesting.”Erika smirked before she brushed her fingers down Raven’s chest. “Dance with me, then?”“Oh. I think I’ll stay here for now.” Raven politely shook his head as he drowned his guilt with whiskey.“Hey, beautiful! Why don’t you dance with me instead? Don’t mind that guy. I bet he’s th
The number you have dialed is unattended. Please try again later. “Please…Raven pick up.”The number you have dialed is unattended. Please try again later. For the past three hours, Therese has been calling Raven nonstop as she lay awake in bed, tears streaming down her face. Leonor Desmond’s words still echo inside her head. Because of him, she learned that words uttered in a harmless way could hurt the most. “I’m sorry, Mr. Desmond. I appreciate the offer but I’m not a person who could be bought.” Therese played their conversation inside her head for the nth time. She remembered how her hands trembled as she stood up against the tallest wall she’s ever encountered. “I’m not buying you, Ms. Barlow. I’m giving you a way out. You’re young, smart, and beautiful. You have a bright future ahead of you and you don’t deserve to be…entangled with our family’s messy business.” In hindsight, she knew he made sense. He’s giving her an opportunity to start again. Money and a scholarship. Wit
Therese stood in front of the mirror, admiring her dream wedding dress. "You can do this!" She encouraged herself to calm her nerves. Her hands smoothed the elegant pleats of her gown before they went to caress the beautiful bouquet that sat silently in her hands. A sense of overwhelming love and happiness flooded through her. At last, the day has come. She couldn't be more excited and anxious at the same time. But it's Raven who she's going to get married to. Nothing could go wrong. Time has already tested their relationship and she knows that they have each other for better or for worse. All she has to do is walk down the aisle and say I do. "Let's go?" Aly stood beside her wearing a proud smile while her eyes brimmed with tears of joy. She reached to hold her best friend's hand and led her to happily ever after.----Therese thought that she was not the emotional type. But as soon as their wedding song played and the door opened to reveal her groom, her heart clenched in an ove
2 WEEKS LATER“Please, come here…” Therese begged as she cupped Raven’s cheeks, ushering his naked body upwards to press over hers. Under the dim yellow lamplight, her eyes glistened with unshed tears. "Therese..." Raven uttered his name and she brushed her fingers over his cheekbones, nose, and lips, burning the image of his face in memory just in case she was dreaming again. Raven leaned down to capture her lips in a tender kiss. "I'm real. I'm here." He whispered in her ear before sucking on the column of her neck, making sure that she could feel his teeth and tongue on her skin.Therese pulled him down as he embraced him tightly. She buried her face on the crook of his neck, smelling his familiar scent that she missed. "Say my name again. I want to hear your voice." Raven brushed his erection over her stomach, making her moan. She closed her eyes, feeling overwhelmed by emotions and Raven was there to kiss them away. Two weeks have passed since he woke up. Two weeks since the

"Where else would I be?" Therese smiled sadly at her best friend's inquiry. They were on the way outside the campus since they just finished their major. Aly sighed, avoiding the elephant in the room. "Jayce and I could take turns watching over him, you know? You don't have to push yourself too much. You need to rest too." Her best friend snaked her arm around hers as she looked at her with genuine concern. She appreciated her offer, she really did. But Therese couldn't bring herself to say that there is no better rest in this world other than being by Raven's side, awake or asleep. "I'm fine, Aly. Besides, his parents are there to take care of him too." Still, Aly tightened her hold around her arm. "Just call me if you need anything, alright?""Thank you, though. You've always been there for us...
"Clear...Shocking on three. One, two, three!"Therese followed the creaking sound of the emergency bed's movement where Raven was laid bloody and unconscious. Her feet numbed from walking and running all day. Her head felt like it was floating. Her heart..."Check rythm. Do we have a pulse?"Her heart sank to her stomach, making her feel like she's drowning. Therese watched the doctors try to revive her dying lover in slow motion. Two electric metal devices that she doesn't know the name of, pulled Raven's chest upwards again and again. And again. Yet, everytime...Raven wasn't budging. "No, no..." She shook her head as she clutched the handle of the bed as the medical personnel kept moving it towards the ICU. Her vision started becoming watery as the weight of reality slowly sinks in her mind. "Starting manual CPR now!" The doctor who climbed on the bed to pump his chest using her hands desperately clung onto the weak pulse point and his heart's fading beats. Soon, they placed an
BANG! BANG! It was almost funny how fast the turn of events took place. One moment, Stephanie was offering her son's internal organs to the man who lent her billions of dollars, the next, gunshots were heard around the yacht. "Show yourself, Stephanie. We know you're in there." She didn't know when they arrived or how they managed to sneak past her men but her ears weren't deceiving her. That voice was of Raven's. "Right, right...I'm here, you got me. Geez! No need to be so dramatic." She rolled her eyes before walking up the stairs, hiding her gun underneath her dress just in case. Stephanie showed up, hands in the air. A part of her was startled to see Raven and Therese with a bunch of officers guarding them as they rode three boats a few distance away from the nose of the yacht. Yet, another part of her had already expected for this to happen. "How did you know where I was?" She smirked mockingly, tilting her head to the side as she eyed the anxious couple. Raven dismissed h
“When is she going to get here?” Keith stared at his toy truck for the hundreth of time as he waited for Stephanie's promise. He still refused to call her his mother at this point. The small circular window that allowed the small room of the yacht to breathe was the only solace he had in his miserable days. At least he gets to see how the sun kisses the ocean good night."Have patience, my son...She'll be here soon." Stephanie entered the room, eyeing the untouched toys and food that scattered around. She took a step closer and knelt before his son who was pouting and glaring at her. "I'm not your son and you have said the same thing since we got here! I wanna go home." He protested bravely, throwing the truck on the wall with much force and making it break. CRASH! Stephanie's patience was wearing thin. She closed her eyes and held herself back from striking his silly little face that resembles his asshole of a father. Fuck, speaking of the Desmonds, why isn't Raven taking her b
“I’m way past revenge. If that’s all you have to tell me, you can scram away.”Warren laid on his prison bed, arms raised to cover his eyes. He contemplated Stephanie's words and their conversation when she visited him.Yes, he was an asshole but not the kind who will use his own flesh and blood for his benefit. He had sinned enough."Warren! Stephanie desperately called for him the moment he turned his back on her. The glass partition almost shook in the intensity of her voice and all eyes in the area was suddenly on them."Have you forgotten about me, then? Don't you remember how you left me in the dirt after you promised me heaven?!" She knocked her hands on top of the table as angry tears started forming at the corner of her eyes. Looking at the state she was in, Warren couldn't help the guilt that rose up his throat. "I was doing just fine! I was...Raven and I were fine. How could you barge in and tempt me with my c-career and..." Stephanie looked down as she bawled her eyes out
“Hello, you must be Keith!” Stephanie flashed a friendly smile towards her son, the mini version of Warren Desmond. And if she squinted a little, she could tell that his eyes were no different from Raven too.Well, it doesn't matter. What's important is the kid's uncanny resemblance to the Desmonds gave her the success of her plans until now. He would exploit it over and over again if it meant furthering her said success. She doesn't feel an ounce of love or attachment to her own son."Who are you?" Keith inquired, tilting his head to the side as he took a bit of his apple bun. After all, he is the product of all her past mistakes. "Oh, your father didn't tell you?" It was after school. Thanks to her men, she found out what school Keith was enrolled at. It wasn't easy. Being the youngest Desmond in the family, his security was top notch. It was a great challenge infiltrating his school. This is a one in a million chance that she must ensure the success of. Stephanie kneeled and r
As much as she tried to hold back her tears, her heart and mind wouldn't cooperate. "Hush, it's okay...I'm not blaming you." Raven gently cupped her cheeks and kissed the trail of her tears starting from her eyelids down to both sides of her nose until he reached her lips. The moment Therese tasted his tongue on hers, she gave in. "'Mmmm sorry. I'll make it up to you." She uttered in what she thought was the most genuine her voice ever sounded. She tangled her tongue with Raven, swallowing his every grunt and groan as she explored the inside of his mouth she once memorized. The rain should have helped drop the temperature inside the car. But it seems like their heavy and passionate kisses and rising body heat dominated the cold. Therese's chest and neck was flushed red while the tips of Raven's ears were tainted pink. "I thought I'd lost you." He mumbled between the kisses, snaking his hands around Therese's neck as he pressed her face closer to her, diving down to suck on the colum
