One of the guards stationed inside the Ward standing by the door approached the lone figure sitting before the unconscious lady on the bed. It's been over two hours since Maya was moved from the ICU to the Ward and yet there wasn't a sign of her waking up anytime soon.
“Boss. Please have something to drink. You didn't have your breakfast this morning” Kelvin didn't utter a word. His eyes were fixated on Maya the whole time. The guard placed the bottled water next to him just in case his boss changed his mind and went back to his post. It's been more than four hours and yet there wasn't any sign of her family members. It seems like they didn't care if she lived it or died. Kelvin stood up with a deep sigh. He has given them enough time to show up and since none of them did, it was time he made his final decision. He took one last glance at her and walked to the door. “Make sure no one gets in” he gave his order to the guard and left the room. *** Later that evening… Maya's eyelids fluttered open slowly, her blurry eyes scanned the unfamiliar surroundings. Her eyes were weak and her lips quivered. “Cameron” she called out softly. Her teeth clenched, feeling a slight pain on her lower belly. She sat up from the bed and that was when her eyes snapped fully open. “Ma'am you're awake” Her attention was drawn to the slightly opened door where an older woman stood with a tray in her hands. Maya's eyes rounded in surprise. “Stay back ma'am. I'll go inform the boss” “What did you do to me?! And where have you brought me?! Where is Cameron?” She made an attempt to step out of bed but felt weak to the core. After attempting to step out for the third time in a row she gave up the idea. **** “Boss, the lady is awake! ” Kelvin placed down the glass of water on the table and stood up to his feet. He followed behind the middle aged old maid he assigned to keep an eye on Maya. When he got to the door, he heaved a deep sigh and dismissed the maid. He twisted the door knob and took a step in only to be struck in the face with a soft pillow. Kelvin was caught off guard by the direct attack launched on him. He snapped his head to the lady sitting on the bed. Her brown eyes glaring at him with hatred and shock. “What did you- “You're lucky i couldn't grab something more dangerous. I'd surely love to see your ugly face get broken” She scorned. Kelvin was bewildered at the audacity the lady possessed. The only reason she wasn't on her knees begging for her life to be spared right now was because she was carrying his baby otherwise, things would have been messy. “I'll forgive that- His speech was cut off short after another pillow flew in his direction. Luckily, he caught it with his left hand before it could touch his face. “You were saying?” She arched a brow at him. Kelvin sucked in through his teeth. And here he thought that Jessica was wild and hard to control but who knew that the lady occupying his beloved bed was even worse? “Don't let me chop off your pretty little fingers to teach you some manners” His voice was cold but it didn't seem to faze Maya at all. Maya snorted. she pulled the comfy duvet off her feet and helped herself down from the bed. One thing she knew very well was that this arrogant man had kidnapped her and she wasn't going to sit back and watch him have her way. "Now isn't the time to threaten me. Where is my husband? and why have you brought me here?" Kelvin tossed the pillow back to the bed while he took a step closer to her. His eyes sizing her every expression. Her heart shaped lips pout in annoyance and her perfect brows furrowed. There was a quick smile that appeared by the corner of his lips but it disappeared as soon as it had appeared. "I'm afraid you don't have a husband anymore. Forget him like a bad memory and channel your focus on having my baby and after that, you can leave" Maya's jaw dropped in shock at his arrogance. His words were dry and plain. Just because she was carrying his child doesn't mean he could make her his captive. "What did you do to Cameron?! I need to see him right this moment do you get that?!" Kelvin remained silent. He pulled his gaze off her which she mistook as his defeat, she further took steps and attempted walking past him only to be pulled back into his arms. "Let me go!" She struggled. Her fist meeting with his chest at every second she got. But her strength couldn't match that of his own. He held both of her hands and led her back to the bed where he made her sit. His hands still clasping hers. "Stop trying to be difficult with me. I don't like you either... you'll only leave after my kid is born" "Cameron tried to reason with me about this. But now I'm suddenly regretting my decision. I don't want to carry your child..I'll get rid of it!" No sooner had the word dropped off her lips, her back touched the bed's surface in the next second with Kelvin hovering over her. His blue eyes locked against her eyes which widened in shock. From what he could see, fear wasn't part of the emotion in her eyes. "I dare you to say that again" He whispered in a firm tone. His lips almost brushing hers. "You'll give birth to my child and you can do anything you want with your life after that. I hope I've made myself clear?" "I wasn't paying attention" She responded. She placed both of her hands against his chest and pushed him off her.Kelvin walked out of the room where he met the old maid standing just next to the door. She bowed her head a little and stood in front of him.“Arrange for new clothes for her. And also make sure she has her breakfast. Dr Sammy will be here shortly” “Yes boss” He walked past her heading down the stairs where an univited guest was said to have been waiting for him. It was no new thing that whatever he does doesn't miss the eyes and ears of his old man. “Where is she?” Kelvin placed both hands into his pants pockets as he approached the older man sitting on a sofa. A strange aura filling the room. Their pair of blue orbs met in an unfriendly way.“I have no idea of what you're talking about” He responded in a dry tone. The old man rose up to his feet with a sharp glare directed at his grandson. “You and I know very well what this is all about Kelvin! Jessica almost lost her life yesterday and you never showed up at the hospital. She lost the baby!” Kelvin didn't act surprised at th
Maya fell on the bed panting softly. She raised her head up to meet Kelvin's annoyed gaze. He turned away from her walking to the drawer in the room. He unlocked the first drawer with a key he took out of his pocket. He soon returned back to her with a file in his hand.“You badly crave for your husband don't you? Here. Take a look at the man you're yearning to meet” He spat in distaste throwing the file next to her on the bed.Kelvin was patient enough to stand there and watch her struggle to pick up the file. He wanted her to see things for herself. According to what he found out about her, he knew she wouldn't listen to anything he had to say against her husband. But there was more to Cameron that she wasn't aware of.Maya picked up the file slowly. She took a glance at the man standing before her contemplating whether to flip the hard covers or not.She knew deep down that whatever this file entails wasn't going to sit well with her and she was equally afraid to find out what it w
Kelvin placed the almost empty tray aside on the drawer next to the bed. He spared Maya a brief glance. Her eyes were puffy and her face stained with tears. He stood aside straightening his jacket and also his cufflinks he had pulled off earlier.“It's no use crying over spilt milk. He doesn't deserve to be a father. Whatever you need, the servants will provide. Just remember to be a good girl” Maya sniffed. She raised her head to him with a solemn gaze. “I need to see him” Kelvin turned around and walked out of the room without turning back. Her constant persistence to see the man that almost killed her and his child fueled a rage inside him. They didn't get along well on their first meeting and he doubted if they ever will. But fate has played its own share on them and they were stuck with it whether they accepted it or not.Meanwhile back at the room..Maya stepped out of the bed and walked to the door. She locked it and ensured that the key was still in the keyhole. Her attentio
Kelvin sighed staring at the road blocked up ahead with different cars due to the traffic. He took a glance at his wrist watch and pulled his gaze back to the transparent glass.“Boss there's a traffic jam ahead” The driver seated at the front seat relayed to Kelvin who was at the back seat. His face crumpled at the news. He had ten minutes to get to the office for a very important meeting with some business partners.“Take another route” he ordered. Relaxing back on his seat with a deep sigh. His phone vibrated pulling him out of whatever trance he was trapped in. He reached for the device tucked away in his inner pocket and tapped on the new message notification flashing on his screen.'Boss. The lady is gone'Kelvin sat up immediately. His hand squeezing the phone as the seconds ticked by.“Turn the car around. Now!” ****Meanwhile…Maya brought a finger to the unconscious lady's nose to check if she was still breathing. Maya pulled off the white scarf away from her head breathing heavily. Her mission was successful. She made it out of the house unscathed.“I have to meet Cameron. I need answers from him” She mumbled beneath her breath and resumed running as fast as she could. Once Kelvin finds out that she was out of the building, he'll do his best to sought after her.As best as she knew Cameron, he and Shelly don't really go along well. Everyone knew that they were enemies who couldn't stand to see the other. But the pictures Kelvin showed to her was entirely different from what everyone knew about them. What if this was all just an act they put up to fool people? Or maybe this was all Kelvin's doings to poison her mind against Cameron.Whatever answer that it might be, she still craved an answer to Cameron's inhumane act towards her and she was already prepared for the worst.****Meanwhile..Shelly was deep in her thoughts. She glanced briefly at Cameron who was deeply engrossed in his meal to
Cameron took a large and heavy gulp of saliva down his throat. This was the same man who inflicted all those Injuries on his body because he tried to hurt the baby Maya was carrying.Who knows what he'd do to Shelly for raising a knife to the mother of his unborn baby? He was swift to pull Shelly back to his side and at the same time, he snatched the knife from her grip. God forbid he loses his life because of the two sisters.“Take her back to the car” Maya was alarmed. She took snapped her head to the two bodyguards who started walking towards her. “There's no way I'm going back there!” She retorted. Both of her arm was grabbed by the two guards sent to get her. They pulled her along with them despite the fight she was putting. “Let me go you ugly psycho's!” When they got closer to the spot where Kelvin stood, Maya broke out of their hold. She approached him with firm footsteps. “What do you think is gonna happen if you take me back to your boring home? I'll plot another escape
“Help!” Kelvin was stunned. Although Jessica was the one getting almost killed by Maya but it was Maya who was screaming her lungs out crying for help.He rushed up to the pair tearing at each other and pulled Maya off Jessica. “You see? I'm not safe in your house! She almost tried to kill me!” His stormy eyes fell on Jessica who was still wincing in pain. On noticing the intense stare fixated on her she raised her head up a little to meet Kelvin's hot gaze. She parted her lips to speak only to be pulled harshly off from the bed by Kelvin. He held her wrist tightly and began leading her out of the room without giving her a chance to speak.Once they were out of the room Jessica was the first to break off from the hold he had on her.“Let me go! Kelvin walked back into the room this time with a white small box. His eyes fell on Maya who was still tucked up on bed except that she was sitting with her back resting on the headboard. He walked closer to the bed and placed the box next to her on the bed.“What’s in it?” She questioned. Her brows arched demanding answers to her pending question.Kelvin didn't spare her a look. He had to be at the office urgently. He had spent all night making a presentation for an upcoming project his company was about to launch.“You have hands don't you? Check it yourself” Maya snorted reaching for the portable box next to her. She unravelled the package which had been unboxed earlier on.The shiny black device sitting inside flashed before her eyes.“A new phone? I didn't know you were this nice” her voice held nothing but ridicule. Does he think by gifting her a new phone every bad thing he had done to her would be wiped off?She took the phone out of the box examining it closely. He got her
Maya chuckled taking another blueberry from the glass bowl she was holding. She had decided to adapt to her new life. For the main time, she'll stay low and act like she had given up until she gained Kelvin's full trust. And then..Boom! She'll vanish from his sight before he knows it. “You're such a fool girl!” She cussed out in irritation staring at the large screen in front of her.Her new phone suddenly started buzzing disrupting the show she was so engrossed in. Her lips curled into a devilish grin knowing fully well who that was.Kelvin.Perhaps he has gotten the surprise she left for him. She picked up the TV remote and turned the volume down to listen to whatever the arrogant man had to say.“It’s show time” She placed the phone against her ear after accepting the call.“What?” She questioned dryly picking another berry and throwing it into her mouth. Her teeth clenched on the squishy berry which popped in her mouth. Kelvin sucked in a deep breath at the other end. How coul
