The past few weeks hasn't been easy in the Sinclair's home either. Kelvin and Jessica were not in the best terms too. The whole Sinclair could feel that there was something wrong with the pair whose wedding was coming up in few weeks time.
But neither of them has said a word to their families concerning the incident which occured at the clinic two weeks ago. Meanwhile at Kelvin's bedroom… Kelvin's head was lifted from the file he was reading to the direction of the door when he heard it open. His eyes narrowed down at the figure on a deep blue ankle length gown which had a side slit all the way to her thigh. Her long Brown hair was styled in loose waves and her face held a little touch of makeup. However, her expression showed how much she was annoyed or displeased with something. “There's a reason why we place doors at the entrance of a room. It's for privacy and also to knock on it- “You think I'm here to listen to you lecture me about what doors are made for?...Well I have a news for you Kelvin" Jessica barked. Her body shook in anger as she fondled for something in her purse. Once she had grasped it, she threw it down next to his feet. “There! I hope you're happy now? I'm pregnant! With another man's baby!” Kelvin exhaled deeply as he stared down at the strip next to his left foot. He didn't utter a word to her but just froze completely. This was a big mess up. “Are you really going to stand there and say nothing? What the hell am I supposed to do with this baby?” Kelvin slapped the file he was reading close. He spared her a single glance.“Do whatever you want with it. That's not my child and so it's not acceptable to me” He uttered in a cold tone before walking past her. The sound of the door closing behind her jolted her out of her dumbfounded state. Her hand fell on her tummy. “Kelvin! Kelvin! Get back here!” Jessica yelled going after him. When Kelvin got to the office, he walked around the large desk and took his seat. He picked up one of the many files piled up by the edge of the table. Immediately, the door opened after a quick knock. “Boss. I've got everything that you requested for concerning the lady” A young man strode into the room holding a file in his hand. Kelvin raised his head up to his assistant instantly and snapped the file he was reading close. He stretched out his arm to accept the file outstretched to him. “Good. Use the door” The young man flashed his boss an awkward smile before he left the office. Kelvin flipped through each pages reading it intently. Once he was done, he picked up his phone and dialed a particular number. “I'm sending an address to you, you and your men should secure that environment and notify me when you see anything strange or anyone leaving” **** Cameron stared down at the glass of orange juice he was holding. He inhaled and exhaled loudly as he contemplated what he was about to do. After he had suggested an abortion to Maya, she made a big issue out if it. He failed to understand what was running through her mind. She didn't want to have another man's child and she also didn't want to get rid of it. Her uncertain choice has left him with no other option than to take matters into his own hands. He opened the door to their bedroom and walked in. His eyes fell on her pale figure sitting on the bed. Cameron had lost count of how many hours he had spent pacifying her. “You're right Maya. We have no right to take the life of another. I don't mind you giving birth to the child, he or she will get a mother and a father's love. I promise” Maya turned her head to him slowly. He had a small smile on his lips as he approached the bed with the glass of juice. “But you- Cameron placed a finger on her lips cutting her words short. He shook his head gently. “Don't remind me of my selfish and cruel words. You deserve a chance to be a mother and I'm not going to deprive you of that. Here..have this” He stretched the glass to her. “I made it especially for you. I guess I better start taking good care of you now” A large beam appeared on Maya's lips. She wrapped her arm around Cameron with small sobs. Once she pulled away from him she accepted the glass from him. “I don't know what to say. This is so tough for me too” Cameron placed a hand on hers. “Don't worry about all that” He whispered softly as he guided the glass to her lips. He sat there and made sure that she drank the content to the last sip. He collected the empty glass and left the room with the promise of coming back quickly with her breakfast. Twenty minutes later.. Maya picked up her phone from the bed staring at the screen. It has been twenty minutes since Cameron left to get breakfast for her. The kitchen wasn't a twenty minutes distance either. So what was keeping him so long? She pulled the duvet off her feet and stepped down from the bed. Suddenly, there was a strong pang of abdominal pain followed by the teeth gritting feeling of being stabbed with a knife. A loud scream left her lips. Her breaths became irregular while her face was covered with her own sweat. She felt a liquid rolling down her legs and when she looked down, her face paled. Blood! Her scream intensified and yet no sign of Cameron anywhere. Maya couldn't take a step forward due to the pain she was going through at the moment. More blood flowed out of her until she felt the world spinning before her eyes. Slowly, she started losing her consciousness. Her body dropped to the ground but before her head could hit the hard ground, a hand held her head up. Maya heard her name being called out by an unfamiliar voice. She couldn't keep her eyes fully open but the image of the person picking her up from the floor was blurry. This wasn't Cameron, the feeling was different at the moment. “Hang in there!” That was the last thing she heard from whoever was holding her until she slipped into the darkness. **** The sound of the beeping machines followed by the loud voices of the doctors and nurses present in the ICU made a certain figure clench his fist in anger. “Maya!” Kelvin turned on his heels the moment he heard the masculine voice behind him. His pupils dilated as he stared at the man before him. He recognized the man as Maya's husband. Forty minutes ago, he received a call from one of the men that he had stationed outside of Cameron and Maya's home. Cameron was spotted rushing out of the building making a call where he was demanding for an ambulance. If he hasn't made it there on time, who knew what might have happened. His knuckles turned white as he approached Cameron who wasn't prepared for anything. Immediately, a punch was sent to his face knocking him over to the metal bench. “How dare you hurt my baby?!” He picked Cameron up from the bench and attempted to strike again but his men surrounded the two in seconds separating them from each other. “I never did anything but if by any chance that baby dies, then I'll be grateful to the almighty!” Cameron retorted wiping blood dripping from his nose. Maya left him with no other choice. There was absolutely no sane man in the world who would accept another man's kid as theirs. Not now not ever! “If anything happens to her or the baby…you'll wish to be a dead man instead!” One of the guards ran into the building with a phone placed against his ear. He stopped beside his boss with little pants leaving his lips. “Boss. It's Miss Herring. She slipped and fell off the stairs which led to her bleeding. She's currently fighting for her life as we speak” **** After a hour of being in the ICU, Maya was wheeled out of the ICU by three nurses and a doctor. She was on a blue hospital gown while an IV drip was connected to her wrist. She wasn't awake or conscious of her surroundings. She lay very still on the bed. The moment Kelvin and Cameron spotted Maya on the wheeler, they both stood up to their feet. “Maya- “Don't!” Kelvin warned sternly. He quickened his pace and caught up with them. “Is she alright? And how is the baby?” The doctor stopped moving. He stopped on his tracks and turned to Kelvin who was panting heavily beside him. “Luckily you brought her here on time. She lost way too much blood and she's currently weak.” “And what about the baby? Did she lose it?” Kelvin and the doctor turned their heads to the person who just asked a question. Cameron cleared his throat. “It's kind of a wonder how the foetus survived this. Both mother and child are okay” No one noticed the Cameron's change of expression. His high hopes were dashed before his face. How could the baby survive? “There are some forms that needs to be filled urgently” “I'm her husband. I'll handle it” Cameron took a step forward to the doctor. He was suddenly yanked back to the spot he was standing on earlier. “She's carrying my baby. I'll fill the forms” The doctor was left confused by the two men words. He parted his lips to speak but couldn't find the ability to utter a single word. “Okay. I'll take my leave now” As soon as the doctor was out of their sights, Kelvin gripped Cameron by his collar. With a low deep voice he uttered. “Your role as her husband ends here! She's now my responsibility and you're the Cop’s business” He gave a nod to his guards standing at a distance. They were quick to rush forward to Cameron and held him down. He didn't back down without a brawl but he was still overpowered by the guards. “Let me go! I need to see Maya!”One of the guards stationed inside the Ward standing by the door approached the lone figure sitting before the unconscious lady on the bed. It's been over two hours since Maya was moved from the ICU to the Ward and yet there wasn't a sign of her waking up anytime soon. “Boss. Please have something to drink. You didn't have your breakfast this morning” Kelvin didn't utter a word. His eyes were fixated on Maya the whole time. The guard placed the bottled water next to him just in case his boss changed his mind and went back to his post. It's been more than four hours and yet there wasn't any sign of her family members. It seems like they didn't care if she lived it or died. Kelvin stood up with a deep sigh. He has given them enough time to show up and since none of them did, it was time he made his final decision. He took one last glance at her and walked to the door. “Make sure no one gets in” he gave his order to the guard and left the room. *** Later that evening… Ma
Kelvin walked out of the room where he met the old maid standing just next to the door. She bowed her head a little and stood in front of him.“Arrange for new clothes for her. And also make sure she has her breakfast. Dr Sammy will be here shortly” “Yes boss” He walked past her heading down the stairs where an univited guest was said to have been waiting for him. It was no new thing that whatever he does doesn't miss the eyes and ears of his old man. “Where is she?” Kelvin placed both hands into his pants pockets as he approached the older man sitting on a sofa. A strange aura filling the room. Their pair of blue orbs met in an unfriendly way.“I have no idea of what you're talking about” He responded in a dry tone. The old man rose up to his feet with a sharp glare directed at his grandson. “You and I know very well what this is all about Kelvin! Jessica almost lost her life yesterday and you never showed up at the hospital. She lost the baby!” Kelvin didn't act surprised at th
Maya fell on the bed panting softly. She raised her head up to meet Kelvin's annoyed gaze. He turned away from her walking to the drawer in the room. He unlocked the first drawer with a key he took out of his pocket. He soon returned back to her with a file in his hand.“You badly crave for your husband don't you? Here. Take a look at the man you're yearning to meet” He spat in distaste throwing the file next to her on the bed.Kelvin was patient enough to stand there and watch her struggle to pick up the file. He wanted her to see things for herself. According to what he found out about her, he knew she wouldn't listen to anything he had to say against her husband. But there was more to Cameron that she wasn't aware of.Maya picked up the file slowly. Kelvin placed the almost empty tray aside on the drawer next to the bed. He spared Maya a brief glance. Her eyes were puffy and her face stained with tears. He stood aside straightening his jacket and also his cufflinks he had pulled off earlier.“It's no use crying over spilt milk. He doesn't deserve to be a father. Whatever you need, the servants will provide. Just remember to be a good girl” Maya sniffed. She raised her head to him with a solemn gaze. “I need to see him” Kelvin turned around and walked out of the room without turning back. Her constant persistence to see the man that almost killed her and his child fueled a rage inside him. They didn't get along well on their first meeting and he doubted if they ever will. But fate has played its own share on them and they were stuck with it whether they accepted it or not.Meanwhile back at the room..Maya stepped out of the bed and walked to the door. Kelvin sighed staring at the road blocked up ahead with different cars due to the traffic. He took a glance at his wrist watch and pulled his gaze back to the transparent glass.“Boss there's a traffic jam ahead” The driver seated at the front seat relayed to Kelvin who was at the back seat. His face crumpled at the news. He had ten minutes to get to the office for a very important meeting with some business partners.“Take another route” he ordered. Relaxing back on his seat with a deep sigh. His phone vibrated pulling him out of whatever trance he was trapped in. He reached for the device tucked away in his inner pocket and tapped on the new message notification flashing on his screen.'Boss. The lady is gone'Kelvin sat up immediately. Maya pulled off the white scarf away from her head breathing heavily. Her mission was successful. She made it out of the house unscathed.“I have to meet Cameron. I need answers from him” She mumbled beneath her breath and resumed running as fast as she could. Everyone knew that they were enemies who couldn't stand to see the other. But the pictures Kelvin showed to her was entirely different from what everyone knew about them. What if this was all just an act they put up to fool people? Or maybe this was all Kelvin's doings to poison her mind against Cameron.Whatever answer that it might be, she still craved an answer to Cameron's inhumane act towards her and she was already prepared for the worst.****Meanwhile..Shelly was deep in her thoughts. Cameron took a large and heavy gulp of saliva down his throat. This was the same man who inflicted all those Injuries on his body because he tried to hurt the baby Maya was carrying.Who knows what he'd do to Shelly for raising a knife to the mother of his unborn baby? He was swift to pull Shelly back to his side and at the same time, he snatched the knife from her grip. God forbid he loses his life because of the two sisters.“Take her back to the car” Maya was alarmed. She took snapped her head to the two bodyguards who started walking towards her. “There's no way I'm going back there!” She retorted. Both of her arm was grabbed by the two guards sent to get her. They pulled her along with them despite the fight she was putting. “Let me go you ugly psycho's!” When they got closer to the spot where Kelvin stood, Maya broke out of their hold. She approached him with firm footsteps. “What do you think is gonna happen if you take me back to your boring home? I'll plot another escape
“Help!” Kelvin was stunned. Although Jessica was the one getting almost killed by Maya but it was Maya who was screaming her lungs out crying for help.He rushed up to the pair tearing at each other and pulled Maya off Jessica. “You see? I'm not safe in your house! She almost tried to kill me!” His stormy eyes fell on Jessica who was still wincing in pain. On noticing the intense stare fixated on her she raised her head up a little to meet Kelvin's hot gaze. She parted her lips to speak only to be pulled harshly off from the bed by Kelvin. He held her wrist tightly and began leading her out of the room without giving her a chance to speak.Once they were out of the room Jessica was the first to break off from the hold he had on her.“Let me go! Maya chuckled taking another blueberry from the glass bowl she was holding. She had decided to adapt to her new life. For the main time, she'll stay low and act like she had given up until she gained Kelvin's full trust. And then..Boom! She'll vanish from his sight before he knows it. “You're such a fool girl!” She cussed out in irritation staring at the large screen in front of her.Her new phone suddenly started buzzing disrupting the show she was so engrossed in. Her lips curled into a devilish grin knowing fully well who that was.Kelvin.Perhaps he has gotten the surprise she left for him. She picked up the TV remote and turned the volume down to listen to whatever the arrogant man had to say.“It’s show time” She placed the phone against her ear after accepting the call.“What?” She questioned dryly picking another berry and throwing it into her mouth. Her teeth clenched on the squishy berry which popped in her mouth. Kelvin sucked in a deep breath at the other end. How coul
Kelvin walked back into the room this time with a white small box. His eyes fell on Maya who was still tucked up on bed except that she was sitting with her back resting on the headboard. He walked closer to the bed and placed the box next to her on the bed.“What’s in it?” She questioned. Her brows arched demanding answers to her pending question.Kelvin didn't spare her a look. He had to be at the office urgently. He had spent all night making a presentation for an upcoming project his company was about to launch.“You have hands don't you? Check it yourself” Maya snorted reaching for the portable box next to her. She unravelled the package which had been unboxed earlier on.The shiny black device sitting inside flashed before her eyes.“A new phone? I didn't know you were this nice” her voice held nothing but ridicule. Does he think by gifting her a new phone every bad thing he had done to her would be wiped off?She took the phone out of the box examining it closely. He got her
