Wayne's POV
My downhill journey started after Marianna ended what we could have shared; a life together. I have never shown interest in a woman enough to establish a stable relationshil. I have never offered my heart to a woman. Maria was the first and unfortunately, the last. I haven't quite recovered from that would have been relationship.A son came out of it. He's a beautiful timid boy. He often disappoints me with his softness. He's weak and emotional. Even my daughter is tougher than him.
In total, I have three children. Two daughters and one son. I barely consider Marc a son.
My eldest, Raymond is fourteen. He's the result of a careless whim with a woman in Costa Rica. I was drunk and I barely remember it but he is the result. I found out about him a year after Maria broke up with me. I took him from her and paid her well to keep her away. Raymond is the kind of son any father would be
Marianna's POVMy life has been great even if not perfect for the last few years. I have made peace with a lot of tragedies that could have otherwise destroyed me. But even with a perfect cloudless sunny day, the weather can change suddenly. The clouds that are darkening my clear blue skies are Nate and Wayne. They will cause another life wrecking storm if I'm not careful to take shelter."Why papi? Why are they coming back into my life at the same time as if they agreed? Why?" I made my thoughts audible so that I'm not the only one suffering from them.My father let out a frustrated sigh. He's not happy about Nate being back. He rubbed the back of his head looking groggy from a lack of sleep. We have been up all night. Neither one of us wanted to leave. Nate has been in the hospital room all night talking to his son. At some point I eavesdropped and they were talking about his job in the navy. I seriously ho
Giovanni's POV"That's far enough. Stop. On your knees, hands behind your head." I instructed the Greek man who ruined my daughter's life.He left me picking up the pieces, putting her together over and over again until I felt just as broken. What he did to her will be hard to forgive. With every tear Maria shed, my heart grew weaker because of the pain until I was certain I would die of grief. I swore to myself that the day he will come back I'll shoot him. I didn't get a chance at the hospital but here in Florence, I don't have to be civil. Here I can get away with murder. Today is that day."Don Giovanni, let's be reasonable.""Now!" I demanded."Don Giovanni, please let's talk about this." He turned slowly his hands slightly raised. He locked his gaze with me. He has cold blue eyes. I don't know what Maria daw in this one! "I know I wronged you and I am here to make it ri
Nathan's POV"Thank you for meeting me." I shook hands with the young man. "Walk with me."I kept walking and he stayed close. I haven't had a wink of sleep after I lost my passport. I don't know who took it and why."How can I help you Signor? If Don Giovanni realizes I am here with you he will lose his mind. He's fond of losing his mind." The young boy chuckled. "He doesn't like you.""I know. He demonstrated it. I'll get to the point son. I ran into a problem a few days ago. I lost my passport.""I'm sorry about that but if it's a replacement you need, I can take you to the government offices.""I don't want a replacement. I want the one they took." I stopped looking around me. I'm getting more and more paranoid by the day.He held his hands at his waist his frown thicker than my own. "They? Who do you mean signor?""I was
Marianna's POV"Signora, are you busy? Do you have a moment?" Jenny knocked once on the door that is slightly ajar.I'm in a mad rush to compile a fall collection for the New York Fashion Week. Of all the places in the world, New York is my least favorite but it's part of the work. I have no choice. I have big clients there."Yes I do. Come in." I pushed aside the sketch book making room for the cup of tea. I'm very blank today. My creativity levels are sub zero. Once she set it down on the table she didn't leave. She lingered with a lot of uncertainty in her movement."Is everything okay?""I know it's none of my business but..." She reached into the front pocket of her apron. She placed a magazine clipping of a naked woman in front of me. I covered it with my palm my cheeks redder than tomatoes."What is the meaning of this?" I glared at her. It's too indec
Marianna's POVThree days and still nothing from Nate. Did he leave for the navy and not say anything? Is he ignoring his responsibilities? I don't even know where he lives."Nicko! Breakfast! It won't be sitting here all day for you, yourroyal pain in..." I clenched my jaw. "Come down here now!"We are officially at a stand off. He won't speak to me specifically. He's speaking to every else but not me. I don't mind the silent treatment because he will get over it when he needs something from me. But what I mind is him thinking he's punishing me by not eating. I happened to enjoy all my meals since I took away his doors and magazines. I counted hi lack of privacy as a victory."He says he's not hungry. I think he is. I heard his stomach rumble. I'll take some food up to him.""No you won't." I forbid Tony. "If he's hungry, all meals are served in the dining room a
Marianna's POV"Nickolas, it's enough. You will talk to me."He still faced away sketching on his book. Like me my son likes to draw. He draws anything if he pays attention. I get it from my father who is an architect and he gets it from me. I don't know what Nickolas will become. Will he be an oil baron like Helena? An architect like his grandfather? A admiral like his father? A designer like his mother? I'm not sure. I hope he will like his decision and it won't be forced on him.I sat beside him watching him sketching what looks like the front of the villa. The fact that he's drawing from memory is interesting."I was sixteen when I got pregnant. That's just two years older than you are sweet boy." I kissed the side of his head. "It wasn't easy for me. I flipped out on you because I'm scared you'll get a girl pregnant... a young girl. That will ruin her life. I don't want that. I want you
Nick's POV"Hey Nick! Are we going to the winery today?" I heard Tony walking in my direction. I stashed the note into my pocket but I didn't cover the box of red roses in time. "What is that?"He knelt in the floor where I set the box down after it was delivered. I told the new maid I'll take care of it. It's for my mother and it's not from my father. It's another love sick puppy dying of obsession. It has been my duty to keep them away. They can't take my father's place."Flowers Tony. You do know what flowers are, right? Specifically red roses.""They look nice. Are they Miss Maria's?""It should be Mrs Bale." I closed the box. "I'll throw these away.""Why?" Tony held the edge of the box. "She will love them!""They are not from my father. She shouldn't love them.""What if you just write a note and make it look like it's
Nick's POVI'm in heaven.I can't say my curiosity has been satisfied; maybe soothed but I'm still yet to be satisfied. I glanced over my shoulder at the beauty getting dressed. I hurried up as well. I can't be gone for too long. Mom always wakes up at midnight to eat. When she does that, she checks in on me. I have an hour to get back before that. I wish I wouldn't have to go back just yet. Another round is more than okay."I really like you Nicko.""I like you too." I smiled at her."When can we get together again?""I'll let you know.""How? Your mom banned me from the villa.""And you made your way there tonight." I locked gazes with her. She has mischievous brown eyes. I find them fascinating. Hayley is dear to me. She's making Italy bearable. "Just do it again when you can."I gave her a quick peck on h
