CHAPTER HUNDRED-TWENTY-FOUR: NEW BEGINNING

Alexander’s POV

When we finally got home, the house was extremely quiet. The night’s events hung over us like a heavy blanket. Catherine was still shaking as she walked in, and I led her inside with my heart aching for her.

Richard was there, making sure everything was safe and secure. His presence was a small comfort in the midst of all the chaos.

As soon as the door closed behind us, I pulled Catherine into a tight hug. I felt her trembling against me and tried to warm her, both physically and emotionally. "It’s over," I said softly, my voice filled with relief and sadness. "You’re safe now."

She clung to me, her tears soaking my shirt. "I was so scared, Alexander. I thought…"

"I know," I said gently, cutting her off. "I know. But it’s all right now."

Richard gave us some space before speaking up. "I’ll stay here for a while, just in case," he offered. "You both need time to deal with everything."

"Thank you, Richard," I said, feeling grateful for his support.
