At that moment, she felt the ground should open and swallow her. She had never been embarrassed all her whole life.

She lifted her head up and when her eyes came in contact with his, her fists clenched.

His gaze was mocking and intimidating and if she didn’t need his help, she would have mocked him with words.

“What’s all this fuss for by the way?” She asked, pointing at the helicopters.

“Don’t want to be caught in traffic.” As Harry replied, his gaze was fixed on his Patek Philippe grandmaster chime wrist. “How can I help you, Mrs Zara? I can’t waste another minute standing here with you.”

Zara barely heard what he said. The sound coming from the helicopters didn’t make Harry’s words audible, but she was still able to pick some from it.

“Can we go to somewhere cool to talk and maybe get food? I’m hungry.” After saying those words, Zara bit her lower lip, praying not to get ridiculed by Harry.

They’ve always hated each other and Harry wouldn’t care if she was hungry or not, but she decided to give it a try.

She was stranded and if Harry leaves without buying her food, she would definitely die of hunger before getting killed by the cold outside since she had no where to stay.

Her brows creased when the man dressed in black suit behind Harry whispered something to his ear.

She developed instant hatred for him. He didn’t say anything to Harry ever since, but now that she spoke about being hungry, he finally had something to say.

She was getting impatient by Harry’s silence. It was annoying how he just had his gaze back at his watch, ignoring her.

She was about to remind him of her presence when he spoke up.

“I don’t give a fuck if you’re hungry or not, I don’t mind you starving.”

Zara lowered her head to the floor in shame, regretting why she had to ask in the first place.

“But…”

Her eyes lit up when he continued, she immediately looked up.

“I don’t want cops flooding my office asking me questions because I was the last person seen with you before you died.”

A deep frown appeared on Zara’s face, causing her forehead to form wrinkles. “What do you mean by that?”

“The fact that you called me means you have no one else to help you, I am your only hope. If I leave you, you might die of hunger.”

Zara scoffed. “You are indeed my only hope, otherwise I won’t be f**king with you right now… So is that a yes?”

Harry stared at her for a while before turning and walking to the helicopter entrance.

“Go along, Mrs Zara.” The bodyguard said.

She sighed in relief and took few steps till she got to where the man stood. “It’s miss now.” She patted his shoulder and walked into the helicopter.

In one of the biggest restaurants in California, Zara and Harry were seen at a corner, with variety of food on their table.

The restaurant was empty, not because there wasn’t no customer, but because Harry had booked the whole place.

A normal citizen would have had to make reservations days to or a day before, but Harry? He could do anything he wanted to. There was nothing money couldn’t do.

Zara ate quietly, picking from each meals on the table. She had forgotten the last time she ate with this many food present.

Felix never took her out for once ever since they got married, and homemade food couldn’t compare to this.

As she chewed, her gaze was focused on Harry who had his attention focused on his phone.

She stared at the bodyguard standing beside him and noticed he was staring back at her, but he looked away immediately.

The other security were outside, standing in front of the cars they came with. After the helicopter landed, they drove to the restaurant in a Rolls Royce and a Mercedes.

When Harry raised his head from his phone, he spoke up. “So what is it you want to say?”

“Can he give us a minute.” She said, her eyes fixed on the bodyguard.

Harry didn’t say a word, and after some seconds, the body guard walked away, going to stand a distance from them.

Zara shifted the plate of creamy pasta away from her front, and rested her hand on the small space, leaning further.

“My father didn’t allow me into his house, and it confirmed the rumors I heard that he had disowned me…” She paused and sighed. “I’m highly disappointed in him.”

Harry’s brows raised slightly. “You’re disappointed in your father?”

She nodded. “I’m still his daughter no matter what. He shouldn’t have done that.”

Harry scratched his forehead with his index finger, his brows dropped. “So what do you want me to do, Zara? I have somewhere important to be.”

“I need you to help me, I have no where to stay.” She replied.

“Then go back to London.” Harry was blunt.

Zara sighed in frustration. “If I could go back to London, do you think I’ll be here right now?”

Harry studied the look on her face and he could tell something had happened that made her return to California, but he didn’t know what.

He bent his wrist to his face and when he saw what the time was, he adjusted the collar of his tuxedo.

“Forward your account details, I’ll have my secretary send you a million dollars. That should be enough for you to get somewhere to stay and get food.” As he said those words, he stood on his feet.

Zara stood up in rush. “You are leaving?”

“Yes.”

“No, you can’t leave. I’m not done talking.” She pushed her chair back and stepped out, going to where he stood.

She grabbed his arm, so he wouldn’t be able to leave. “You have to listen to me.”

Harry’s eyes narrowed as he stared at her hands on his arms. “Let go.” He didn’t need to say too much.

Slowly, she loosened her grip on his arms. “Sorry I didn’t mean to, I…”

“I’ve offered you help, what more do you want?” Despite being annoyed, he remained calm.

“I do not want money, I need something else. And if only you’ll listen to me.”

“Why should I? Have you forgotten how you left me humiliated two years ago?”

Zara suddenly went bereft of words. It was true Harry was publicly humiliated after she ran away on the day of their wedding, but then she was blinded by love.

The bodyguard whom was standing at a distance, walked up to them, and leaned close to Harry’s shoulder.

“It is time for the meeting, sir.” Although his voice wasn’t loud, Zara heard him.

Realization dawned on her. Harry really had somewhere to be and that was why he kept checking the time, she thought he did all that because he didn’t want to talk to her and was looking for ways to leave.

“I didn’t know you have a meeting, sorry for wasting your time.” The apology definitely didn’t come from her heart, but she just had to.

She went back to her seat and resumed eating slowly.

She felt uneasy and when she looked up, she found Harry’s gaze on her.

What was he still doing standing there? Well, she didn’t care.

With his gaze still on her, he declared, “Cancel the meeting, I will spend the rest of the evening here.”
