Chapter 34

As dangerous as it was, Chelsea had left Constance’s car key on the windshield of the Bentley. She was too humiliated to face her sisters right now. She had run down the street and jumped on the first city bus that was pulled over to the side.

The bus went through a neighborhood an old dear friend lived in. So, she hopped off. When she went to the apartment complex to visit said friend, she was told he didn’t live there anymore. Luckily, his former roommate had given her the new address.

Chelsea wasn’t sure how long she had been waiting out in the cold breeze of October outside of the townhouse. All she knew was she was cold and it was dark when he had finally showed up.

George Nelson walked up the steps of the townhouse carrying a brown backpack over his shoulder. “Chelsea?”

“Georgie,” she croaked.

“What are you doing here, honey?” he asked with concern as he took the last step.
