Chapter 35

The next day . . .

Chelsea sat at the four person table as George cooked breakfast. Since she didn’t have any clothes, she was wearing a shirt of his and a pair of his socks.

The smell of cooked sausage filled the air. Orange juice and the place settings were already on the table.

Last night, she had tossed and turned until George came to look in on her. They talked about old times at Columbia. Before Chelsea knew it, she was opening her eyes to the morning light. Talking about times that were simpler had relaxed her last night.

“What are your plans today, CeCe?” he asked as he put scrambled eggs in a bowl.

“The first thing I was thinking about was getting the locks changed at Hilltop.”

“Where?” he asked as he put the bowl of eggs on the table. He also sat down the plate of sausage patties.

“Hilltop House is the place Derek bought for me when we first got married – as a wedding gift. He signed the deed over to me.”

“So, it’s legally yours. You don’t have to let him stay there,” George
