Cynthia's POV

“Hurry up!” I yelled at the top of my voice, but clearly it did nothing to faze the little boy. “why the fuck do you have to be so slow?”

“Language, mummy.” It wasn't news that I found his tiny voicr cutr and all,but right now, it took everything in me to not give him one of the biggest slaps in the whole world. “You said to not use the F word.”

“Halo.” I called out through gritted teeth. One would think that my obvious frustration would be known to my little boy, but no, he just had to be the most clueless person on earth. Either that, or he was simply doing this on purpose. “We don't have time for this. We have to pack up and go.”

“I'm trying.” He let out a small whine. “I just need to tie up my shoe laces and fix the buttons….”

I crouched to his height before he could let out the rest of his words. In one swift motion, I knocked his tiny hands from his feet just before knotting the little strands. They might or might not have come out a little tighter t

168Alora's POV I'd been taking one too many trips to the police station recently, and I would be lying if I said I liked it. It made my skin crawl and for all the wrong reasons, but that wasn't even the worst part. No matter how much I seemed to loathe the place, it didn't change the fact that I still had to come to the station, and at a given time too. When Fredrick and I had decided to sleep in today, the last thing we saw coming was a call from the inspector, and in the early hours of the morning too. “Ignore it.” Fredrick had said as he wrapped his arms tighter around me. “it's not important. If it is, he'll just have to wait till we're fully up.” Heaven knows I wanted to take his advice, but the more I ignored his calls, the more he kept calling. “Hello?” I'd spoken into the phone after so many missed calls. “Hi inspector, is there any….”“We have a situation at the station.” He'd rasped. “And we need your presence. Its about Mrs Cynthia Deutchmond.”I didn't want to g

169Alora's POV Growing up, I'd heard that you needed to think things through before you made decisions, why? Because they could shape your life and make it worthwhile or send you to an early grave. Each possibility was based on the decisions you made beforehand, and I'd stuck to this fact, until a week ago, that is. When the inspector had revealed everything about Eliaz and his family, I was beyond stunned, because everything happened so fast, I never saw it coming. Eliaz , Cynthia and Henry had ruined our lives and had been sabotaging us for the longest time, and now, they got their revenge, in the most quickest way possible. Don't get me wrong, I was super glad that things had finally settled, but I couldn't help but feel bad for them. Maybe if they'd gotten a little more time, they would have turned over a new leaf. Fredrick said the chances were dangerously low, but a girl could only dream. “New mummy?” A young boy's call was all it took to pull me out of my thoughts. I bl

I couldn't remember the last time I said that word aloud and actually meant it. Over the years, it had been just a word that didn't hold any sentimental value, and could you blame me? I was hurt and betrayed by the one person that was supposed to have my back. Not only did he not do that, he went ahead to tarnish and ruin me and my wife's reputation at any opportunity he got. Henry's death had come as a shock, but did it make me a bad person that I didn't exactly feel too bad about it? At first, I was surprised, but over the days, there was this sort of peace his death had brought. Now, I didn't have to always be on the lookout for someone trying to sabotage me or any of our plans. Cynthia and Eliaz were gone as well, but there was something that still lingered in the air. Not something though, someone. Halo. Alora had insisted

Alora’s POV Today had already started on a bad note when I accidentally spilled a cup of hot coffee on myself. Honestly, I really thought that was going to be the worst of it until I pushed open the double doors that served as the entrance to my house. “What the….” The rest of the words died on my lips as I froze in my tracks. My mind raced in confusion as I stared at the scene in front of me with wide eyes. What the hell was going on? And as if to answer my question, ”Bang!” a loud noise reverberated from the corner of the living room. I shook in fear, my heart jumping to my throat as the sound took me off guard. I flinched a bit, before turning to the direction from which the sound had come to check what was happening. Perhaps, if I had known what was waiting for me, I wouldn't have even turned. A gasp escaped my lips as my gaze fell on a tall muscular man walking out of one of the rooms holding one of my many plaques. He raised it high and before I could even stop hi

Alora's POV I think I must have passed out and regained consciousness all at once within the past few minutes. Because no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't bring myself to move, or comprehend everything that was happening. Eliaz claims he never loved me and my stepsister Cynthia was pregnant and carrying his child. When did it all come to this? Where had I been when all of this was happening? My stomach churned and I held myself from crumbling to the floor. Honestly, this time, I wasn't even scared of falling and hurting myself. If I was to be asked on a deeper level, I would say I very much preferred that level of pain, because nothing could compare to what I'd just heard. I pulled my gaze back to the duo, hoping that somewhere in between my self-struggle, things would have gone back to normal. I was mourning my father, perhaps this was one of the many unnoticed symptoms of grief. I just had to be at the highest level to be passing through all of this right? A sma

Alora's POV The entire room settled into another round of silence. Unlike the previous time, I actually seemed to have the upper hand here, and I wasn't exactly sure how I felt about it. For the first couple of minutes, I was led to think that, somehow, the world had actually frozen over. Eliaz and Cynthia stood rooted to their spots, none of them moving. I stared at Eliaz and the only thing his handsome face betrayed was an unhealthy amount of shock. His eyebrows were knit together and his lips parted in a semi-circle, yet no words slid past. Cynthia on the other hand, had her eyes trained on me, or more specifically, my belly. Whether she was just so shocked she had to confirm I was telling the truth, or she thought I was trying to pull her legs and she was trying to find some kind of loophole that would contradict my story, I wasn't exactly sure. If there was one thing I could bet my life on though, she hadn't seen the news coming. At all. “What?” Eliaz finally mustered up t

  • The Billionaire Ex-Wife’s Return    Ch-4

Alora's POV A small groan slid past my lips as I stirred awake. I had my eyes pressed close, but it did nothing to numb the pain that spread through my body. My groans intensified as the pain shot up my spine, before traveling to every other part of my body. As gently as I could, I turned to my side, but it did nothing to help. If anything, if worsened the pain by a ten time margin. My insides twisted and burned, and for a moment, I briefly wondered why I had regained consciousness. I was better off dead than feeling the way I felt. Nothing could compare to this, I was sure. I had barely come to that conclusion when a thought popped up in my mind. The mere thought of it was gruesome to the extent that I had goosebumps just thinking about it. “What did you think?” The words echoed loudly in my head. “Juice, you should take some more juice.”’No. I shook my head. I didn't want to believe that all of that had happened. There was just no way……“Ma'am.” Someone's hand pressed aga

166Eliaz's POV I couldn't believe my ears. Hell, I couldn't even believe the scene in front of me. I'd blinked back a couple of times, hoping that it would at least change something, but it did. A small part of me had thought, maybe if I blinked too fast, then the distraction that had just appeared in the form of Alora and Fredrick would disappear. But I was wrong, very very wrong. No matter how hard I blinked, then just wouldn't go, and like that wasn't traumatic enough, they both brought news; bad and horrible news too. “I wouldn't sign those papers if I were you.” Alora's voice echoed loudly in my head. . “Halo’s not your son, and the only reason Cynthia wants you to sign off your properties is so she can get everything“Do you want to know who Halo's real father is?” Fredrick added . “Henry is. 165Alora's POV A small groan slid past my lips as I gently peeled my eyes open. I had no idea what I was expecting, but it definitely wasn't a half naked man sprawled on my bed, with one hand draped around me. A closer look showed the man to be Fredrick, and I visibly relaxed. I allowed my eyes flutter shut as memories from last night riddled my mind. When I had pressed my lips against his , I wasn't thinking straight. All I knew was the fact that I'd missed him and alongside that, came something else. The realization that I just might be in love with Fredrick. No, not might. I was in love with him. I had fallen head over heels for him too. My eyes flew open again, and Fredrick's face came into view. He looked peaceful asleep, and I found myself stroking his jaw absentmindedly. Fredrick had never been one to hide his feelings about me, he always made it known to me how much he loved me and just what I meant to him. Thanks to Eliaz and Cynthia, I'd forced myself to believe th

Personally, I was getting tired of pacing about the whole place, but I couldn't bring myself to stop. If I was being honest, I wasn't sure I could actually stop. If I did stop, then best believe that I was going to go straight behind the counter, to get my husband out of there. My husband. I had no idea how the hell I was even standing on my feet right now. Right before the police had showed up, I passed out. Apparently, Henry's grip was more lethal than I thought, but somehow, I woke up midway to the hospital. The nurses in the ambulance had insisted that I follow them to the hospital, but I turned them down immediately. They'd tried their level best to convince me, but in that moment, I'd told them that my husband was the only one that mattered, and I'd be damned if I missed getting him out of prison. Fredrick was due to be out in the next fifteen minutes, those were the wo

In fact, I needed it now more than ever in my entire life.My heart hammered in my chest, as I sat rooted to my seat. Time seemed to slow to a halt, and for a moment, I found it hard to breathe. No matter how hard I tried to push out air from my nostrils, it just didn't work. In fact, the more I tried, the more I sounded like a suffocating animal. Please help me God. Neither Henry nor his minions had reacted since I spoke, and I honestly didn't know what i thought about it. I tried to think of a reason why they were yet to say anything. Was it shock? Or perhaps they hadn't even heard me and I was only panicking. That was also a possibility, right? The bar was rowdy, with the dim light bathing and giving the place little to no light. In fact, the entire interior was a sharp contrast to the bright lights that ruined the sky and the outside as a whole. Bass
