#53 You are Strong

I leaned back in my chair, staring at the message Xander had just sent me, the images still glowing on my screen. I was right about Sylvie. How could I not see this before? She kept vanishing, claiming she went deep into the forest to interview rogues and hunters and whatnot. All that was a facade to cover up her illicit affair.

I should have let Xander tail Sylvie. He was the one who helped me gather information about Elsa. Only if I had pushed further and not believed in the sacrificing story, that Sylvie had put for the world to believe. Sylvie had dropped her car off with some woman dressed like her—same hair, same clothes, same everything. It was a cheap decoy, and I couldn’t believe I hadn’t seen through her tricks sooner.

At that moment, I got a call from Tyler.

"Jake, I think you were right." Tyler's voice was low, but I could feel the undercurrent of anger.
