Layla POV
“Has anyone heard anything from Ricky?” Cruella asks, and I keep my eyes on my phone. Of course, he won’t be calling me, and he probably doesn’t even have his phone with him. But as if it was magic, my phone rang, and I saw Jo’s number.
“Hey,” I say as I stand up and walk out of the living room. All eyes are on me, and I smile. “It’s not him,” I announce before stepping into the kitchen, where I am completely alone.
“Any news?” Jo asks, and I take a deep breath as I sit on the kitchen island stool.
“No, and I am worried. It was all because of me,” I whispered, looking back at the door as if I was afraid someone would walk into the kitchen and listen to my conversation with my best friend.
