Chapter 97

After dinner, Joshua and I walked back up to our room and changed clothes for the memorial service. I was not looking forward to it, but I felt like I needed it just as much as the pack did. I was missing Douglas just as much as they were. Even though I wasn’t in the same pack as he was during the last few months, I missed being able to mind link him any time I wanted to. I had been mind linking with him at least once a week since he took the gamma position. He was my protector since I was a small child. Just thinking about all this nearly had me in tears. This memorial service was going to be heartbreaking.

We walked down to the event hall and there were flowers and pictures of all four of our fallen warriors, enlarged to poster size, at the front of the hall. Joshua and I walked to the front and looked at each of the photos. I noticed the picture of Douglas was a recent one that someone must have taken without him noticing, because he was laughing and he had his arm over my shoulder
