After dinner, Joshua and I walked back up to our room and changed clothes for the memorial service. I was not looking forward to it, but I felt like I needed it just as much as the pack did. I was missing Douglas just as much as they were. Even though I wasn’t in the same pack as he was during the last few months, I missed being able to mind link him any time I wanted to. I had been mind linking with him at least once a week since he took the gamma position. He was my protector since I was a small child. Just thinking about all this nearly had me in tears. This memorial service was going to be heartbreaking. We walked down to the event hall and there were flowers and pictures of all four of our fallen warriors, enlarged to poster size, at the front of the hall. Joshua and I walked to the front and looked at each of the photos. I noticed the picture of Douglas was a recent one that someone must have taken without him noticing, because he was laughing and he had his arm over my shoulder
I woke up the next morning with my mate sleeping next to me. I had a horrid headache from crying so much the night before. I got out of bed and took a shower, then put on a pair of sweatpants and one of Joshua’s shirts. His shirts will always be too big, regardless of how big my belly grew. There was also the added bonus of having his scent all around me. I went to the coffee brewer in our room and poured a cup for myself, then opened the French doors to the balcony. The morning was chilly, but not cold enough for a sweater. I sat in the lounge chair drinking my coffee and just watched the scenery around me as the pack woke up. I put my hands on my belly and asked my boys, “When are you going to make your grand entrance into the world? You two will make two packs so happy. Kyle, you will be the Beta of daddy’s pack and Kenneth, you will be the Alpha of mommy’s birth pack. You will both be loved beyond belief, but especially by mommy and daddy.” I took my last sip of coffee and stood u
When we got home, Joshua and I went up to our suite and I put my yarn away and put my jigsaw puzzle on the table. I went to the kitchen and started making fried chicken for dinner. I was in the middle of cooking the chicken when Joshua asked, “Do we have any fresh tomatoes?” I shrugged, “I’m not sure. Would you mind looking in the fridge for me?” He kissed my neck and went to the refrigerator. He put four tomatoes on the counter and three chilli peppers. I laughed, “Is that a hint?” He kissed my neck again and sent a shiver down my spine then he whispered, “It could be.” I just shook my head, “All you had to do was ask. But, if you wanted it super spicy, you probably should have told me at least four hours ago. I can make enough for this evening and you will have some left tomorrow.” He held me tightly, “You are the best. How did I get so lucky to have you?” I smiled, “I have no idea… but I’m glad you did.” I started dicing tomatoes, then onion, then peppers. I put the hot-hot in the
I woke up to Jessie’s voice, “See? They are your cousins. That one is going to be your beta.” I opened my eyes, “Hi.” She turned around quickly with baby Gabriel in her arms, “Hey, how are you feeling?” I smiled, “Okay. The boys wore me out.” She laughed, “Oh, I know. It took a lot to keep me awake after I had these guys.” I smiled, “Are they sleeping better yet?” She nodded, “A little. They are starting to try to fight sleep now. I have tried to do what you do, but I think it may just be you that they will allow to do the rough rocking thing.” I chuckled, “They are so cute. I doubt that. You just may not be rough enough. I don’t know why they like it so much, but I don’t mind.” Aunt Piper, who had been sitting in a chair next to Joshua, asked, “Have you started rough rocking babies and pounding their butts?” I laughed, “How do you know about that?” She sighed, “Your mother used to do that too. I used to take Thomas to her when I was having a hard time getting him to go to sleep.” Je
After feeding the twins and putting our stuff away, I made lunch in our suite and then we all started to lay down for a nap when Joshua and I heard a loud rumble outside our door. Joshua jumped out of bed and ran to the door. I followed as fast as I could and found Josh with the door open and Matt holding a rocking chair. Josh asked, “Did that arrive unassembled?” Matt nodded and Joshua asked, “Wouldn’t it have been easier to bring it here before assembling it? You could’ve really hurt yourself getting that down here from your place.” Matt groaned, “I think I did hurt myself. It’ll heal soon though.” I laughed at him, “Was that really necessary? Seriously, Matt, you should have asked an omega to bring it down.” Matt laughed, “Yeah, I thought of that while I was in the middle of falling down the steps with this chair above my head.” I just shook my head and moved the chair to sit beside my rocking chair. I asked, “Are you guys bringing the boys down?” Matt nodded, “Yeah, I’ll be right
I looked into the light and saw Selene in a Midnight Blue gown. I smiled, “I love that gown.” She laughed, “Thank you, child. I’m glad you are more comfortable with me than most. It’s nice to be able to have a conversation with someone.” I laughed, “We are far from strangers. I’m glad I’m finally comfortable with you too. So, are we correct on your path for our boys?” Selene nodded, “You are. You’re getting very good at trusting your instincts. I want you to continue to listen to them. Red Moon Pack will be a dominant pack that will expand to the south and Cold Springs pack will continue to expand and it will also become a hub for your grandchildren and generations after that.” I asked, “Hub for what?” She smiled, “You’ll be alive to see it. It will be absolutely wonderful. Just be prepared to cook a lot!” I smiled widely, “Will we have a huge family?” She nodded, “You will be surrounded by family members of all kinds.” That comment made me furrow my brow, “What do you mean?” She chuc
A year after the twins were born, I was pregnant again and due any day. Kenny and Kyle had been growing and developing so fast. Kenny started walking at nine months and Kyle walked only two weeks after. Gabriel and Douglas were right there with them on each new development. I knew Selene was behind it, but I couldn’t be mad about it. They were all very well behaved and starting to talk. They hadn’t started forming complete sentences yet, but they were able to get their points across to us. We had all gone to the mall at Red Moon Pack when the boys were three months old. Honi was so proud of the store her brother opened for the reservation. There was a lot of merchandise that was made by the people on the reservation. There were beautiful beadwork items, paintings, pottery, and clothes. It was beautiful inside that store. I smiled, “Honi, your brother did a great job on this.” Honi smiled, “My nephew, Isaac, is running the store. My niece relieves him for days off. My brother is the on
We spent the night at Red Moon Pack that night and I went to my office first thing the next morning with Andrew. I asked, “How are we doing on cash?” He laughed, “I had to buy another safe. The combination is written with the rest of them.” I nodded in understanding and responded, “I finished all the vetting at the bank. I had to fire the manager and two tellers. Once we replace them with people we can trust, I want you to start a new account and use it. Close out the old one, just in case someone has an automatic payment going through that.” He nodded, “Should I work on hiring people?” I nodded, “Yes, please. I also need four million from one of the safes. We are going to invest some in Cold Springs Pack.” Andrew smiled, “Awesome. I think that’s a great idea.” I sighed, “Matt noticed how much happier the pack members are. He wants to try for that.” He nodded, “Is he going to ask the pack what they want?” I nodded, “He is. I think it would go much better for him if it’s their idea.” H
