I hope you liked this chapter. As always, I would love to read your comments. I would also like to thank all of you for your well wishes. It has been a long road and it's going to get longer, apparently, but I'm hoping to be better soon.
All the way home, Aunt Piper told us stories of when she and my mother were kids and Honi told us stories of Joshua’s and Matt’s antics when they were little. Jessie and I were enthralled with all of the stories and I was so happy to be learning things about my mother. I did find out that my dad was friends with Uncle Ace while he was growing up. They were from neighboring packs and went to the same school. Aunt Piper suggested that I talk to him to find stories about my dad. She smiled, “I know he has some really funny stories of the things they got into.” I smiled, “I can’t wait.” When we got home, Joshua, Matthew, and Uncle Ace stepped outside to greet us. All of their jaws dropped as they watched the omegas file in and out of the pack house making repeat trips with armloads of bags. Joshua smiled, “Please tell me a large portion of this is yours.” I smiled, “I spent a lot of money today.” He laughed, “That’s good.” I threw my arms around him, “We had so much fun and we heard all k
When we got to the hospital, we waited in the waiting room until Matt came out of the delivery room, “We have two boys.” I smiled as Aunt Piper yelled, “I told you! Jada is never wrong!” I laughed at her level of excitement, “Aunt Piper, your level of excitement cracks me up!” I turned to Matt and asked, “Is Jessie ready for visitors?” He replied, “She will be ready in about thirty minutes. She’s getting cleaned up and they are moving her to a room.” When we were notified that she had been moved, we followed the nurse to her room and we walked in. I approached Jessie and hugged her, “You were right. You got the boys you wanted.” She smiled as she looked at Matthew, “Yeah, I won the bet.” I laughed, “I don’t even want to know what kind of bet you had with your mate. I just want to know how you are feeling.” She smiled, “I’m tired, but also on an adrenalin high.” I smiled, “I guess all the walking today made them decide to make their entrance.” She smiled, “I made it more uncomfortable
It had been two months since Jessie gave birth to the twins and I was absolutely in love with those little boys. Every time one or both of them were cranky or whiney, Jessie would bring them to me and I would rock them to sleep while roughing them up and singing a lullaby. I didn’t know why they loved it, and it only seemed to work when I did it. I had tried to show them how I did it, but they just didn’t get rough enough with them, I guess. I was also starting to get really frustrated with my belly. It was in the way of everything and making me crazy. The only thing it was really good for was holding stuff like stitch markers while I crocheted. I spent a week with Aunt Piper showing me how to crochet and I fell in love with it. I got really good at it too. I had made each of our boys a blanket and some slippers with teddy bears on them, a Native pattern throw for Honi which she fell in love with (even though it was a Navajo pattern instead of Arapaho), I made a blanket with a silhoue
I woke the next morning to the sun shining into our room and birds chirping. I felt next to me and my mate was already out of bed. I sighed as one of our boys chose that exact moment to stretch. I smiled as I rubbed my belly, “That’s a good idea, sweetheart.” I stretched my arms and legs as much as I could, hearing every joint in my body pop, then pulled the covers off my body. I threw my legs over the side of the bed and looked around to see if my mate was in our room. I looked at the clock and realized it was ten am. I remember thinking, “I must have really needed a day to sleep in.” I got out of bed and walked to our bathroom. I did my morning routine and put on a short sleeved maxi dress and a pair of flats. I walked downstairs and followed the smell of sausage to the dining room and found my mate at the Alpha’s table with Andrew and Jacob. I went to see what the cooks had already sat out, but none of that really looked good, so I sat down with them and asked, “How’s everything g
After dinner, Joshua and I walked back up to our room and changed clothes for the memorial service. I was not looking forward to it, but I felt like I needed it just as much as the pack did. I was missing Douglas just as much as they were. Even though I wasn’t in the same pack as he was during the last few months, I missed being able to mind link him any time I wanted to. I had been mind linking with him at least once a week since he took the gamma position. He was my protector since I was a small child. Just thinking about all this nearly had me in tears. This memorial service was going to be heartbreaking. We walked down to the event hall and there were flowers and pictures of all four of our fallen warriors, enlarged to poster size, at the front of the hall. Joshua and I walked to the front and looked at each of the photos. I noticed the picture of Douglas was a recent one that someone must have taken without him noticing, because he was laughing and he had his arm over my shoulder
I woke up the next morning with my mate sleeping next to me. I had a horrid headache from crying so much the night before. I got out of bed and took a shower, then put on a pair of sweatpants and one of Joshua’s shirts. His shirts will always be too big, regardless of how big my belly grew. There was also the added bonus of having his scent all around me. I went to the coffee brewer in our room and poured a cup for myself, then opened the French doors to the balcony. The morning was chilly, but not cold enough for a sweater. I sat in the lounge chair drinking my coffee and just watched the scenery around me as the pack woke up. I put my hands on my belly and asked my boys, “When are you going to make your grand entrance into the world? You two will make two packs so happy. Kyle, you will be the Beta of daddy’s pack and Kenneth, you will be the Alpha of mommy’s birth pack. You will both be loved beyond belief, but especially by mommy and daddy.” I took my last sip of coffee and stood u
When we got home, Joshua and I went up to our suite and I put my yarn away and put my jigsaw puzzle on the table. I went to the kitchen and started making fried chicken for dinner. I was in the middle of cooking the chicken when Joshua asked, “Do we have any fresh tomatoes?” I shrugged, “I’m not sure. Would you mind looking in the fridge for me?” He kissed my neck and went to the refrigerator. He put four tomatoes on the counter and three chilli peppers. I laughed, “Is that a hint?” He kissed my neck again and sent a shiver down my spine then he whispered, “It could be.” I just shook my head, “All you had to do was ask. But, if you wanted it super spicy, you probably should have told me at least four hours ago. I can make enough for this evening and you will have some left tomorrow.” He held me tightly, “You are the best. How did I get so lucky to have you?” I smiled, “I have no idea… but I’m glad you did.” I started dicing tomatoes, then onion, then peppers. I put the hot-hot in the
I woke up to Jessie’s voice, “See? They are your cousins. That one is going to be your beta.” I opened my eyes, “Hi.” She turned around quickly with baby Gabriel in her arms, “Hey, how are you feeling?” I smiled, “Okay. The boys wore me out.” She laughed, “Oh, I know. It took a lot to keep me awake after I had these guys.” I smiled, “Are they sleeping better yet?” She nodded, “A little. They are starting to try to fight sleep now. I have tried to do what you do, but I think it may just be you that they will allow to do the rough rocking thing.” I chuckled, “They are so cute. I doubt that. You just may not be rough enough. I don’t know why they like it so much, but I don’t mind.” Aunt Piper, who had been sitting in a chair next to Joshua, asked, “Have you started rough rocking babies and pounding their butts?” I laughed, “How do you know about that?” She sighed, “Your mother used to do that too. I used to take Thomas to her when I was having a hard time getting him to go to sleep.” Je
It has now been twenty years since that awful day. We have had so much happen since then. Kenny took his rightful place as Alpha of the Red Moon Pack when he was eighteen and Kyle took his place as Beta of Cold Springs pack at the same age. Kyle met his mate, Kelly, when an Alpha from another pack brought his family to visit the pack. This is common practice when an alpha wants his daughter to find her mate. They had a boy and a girl and we are so happy to be grandparents! Kenny hasn’t found his mate yet, but I’m sure he will. He is about to go overseas for a summit with a wolf pack in Russia. There is really no point in an alliance with that pack, because it would serve no purpose. We wouldn’t be able to provide aide in a timely manner and we wouldn’t be able to invest to be able to see where the money is going. I have a feeling he is just going to see if his mate is there and I am very happy he’s at least trying to look. Andrew stepped back from his duties as Co-Alpha and built a h
Five years later, I had just given birth to my sixth, and final, child. My son, Ace, may be the youngest, but he is an Alpha through and through. He was a huge baby, weighing fourteen pounds, six ounces and he was twenty-four inches long. It seemed like giving birth to him took forever! He’s a sweet boy, but very impatient. He does love having his butt pounded and being rocked roughly though… just like his brothers and sisters. He started sleeping through the night at one week old and nearly scared me to death. I got no sleep that first time. I was up every hour, checking to make sure he was still breathing and listening to his heartbeat. He has been doing everything earlier than his brothers and sisters. He’s the chubbiest little boy I have ever seen and I giggle each time I see him laugh. Yes, he is one month old and already laughing. I mean laughing so hard his fat rolls jiggle and I love every second I get to see him do it. So do all of my other children. Kenny and Kyle are in sch
The next morning, Joshua and I went to the doctor and found out that I am only one month pregnant, so there is plenty of time. It also looked like there was only one this time, so I was grateful for that. When we left the clinic, Joshua took me to his car, “Get in. I need to show you something.” I got in the car and I giggled as I watched my big, burly mate nearly skip to the driver’s side of our car. When he got in and started the car, he was almost giddy as he started driving. I laughed, “You are acting like a kid with a huge present in front of him.” He laughed, “I can’t wait for you to see this.” We were only on the road for ten minutes and we pulled into the driveway of a house that looked exactly like the house we had designed. It had a huge, fenced-in yard and the house had a Victorian design with lots of windows, curves, and a beautiful porch with a porch swing. I smiled, “This is really pretty. It looks like the house we designed for our family.” He smiled, “Because it is the
Six months later, my little girl was already starting to learn sign language from one of the pack members in Cold Springs Pack. Her name was Lindsay, and she recently moved to the pack in order to accept a teaching position at the new school. When she heard that Jessica was an oracle, she offered to teach her sign language so she could have the ability to communicate her visions. I paid Lindsay extra for the lessons, because she was teaching me, Luna Jessie and our mates at the same time. That extra ability to communicate was invaluable for all of us. We didn’t expect our boys to be so comical about it though. Once in a while, Kenny would try to get Jessica going by standing between me and Jessica while she tried to sign to me for something. I would shake my head at him, chuckling, while he tried to sign back to her, making random movements with his hands. She would get so frustrated she would start yelling, “MA!” I laughed out loud and asked, “What do you need, sweetie? Is brother ma
Joshua and I slept like rocks that night. The next morning, I had to laugh. Joshua asked, “What’s so funny?” I laughed, “I can remember a time when a night away from the kids caused us to get horny as hell. Now we get sleepy.” He laughed, “I guess we need more than one night in a row. One night to catch up on sleep the next night to catch up on each other.” I smiled, “I like that idea. We will have to remember that for next time.” He smiled, “I think we need a weekend away at the enchanted cabin. Just the two of us.” I smiled as I felt his arms snake around me and a kiss on the back of my neck, “I think we need to make that happen soon. For now, we need to go find out what Jada found out.” He reluctantly agreed, “Sometimes, responsible parenting is the biggest cock-blocker.” I sighed, “But it’s worth it. Don’t even try to say different.” He chuckled, “You’re right. These kids are our biggest blessings. I would just really like to try for more.” I laughed, “We can do that any night, aft
That evening, we were in the dining room, eating dinner with all of Red Moon Pack. After everyone was done eating, I stood up and waited for the room to quiet. When I had everyone’s attention, I spoke up, “Red Moon Pack, I’m so happy to be back with all of you and so is my family. As you all know, our daughter was born. Her name is Jessica Marie. I have something to tell you about her that I need to keep within the pack. She is an oracle. I need all of you to keep this information about her in the pack. If word got out, it would set a target on her and our pack. There are still alphas who would use her abilities for nefarious purposes. Are we all in agreement with that?” I heard the whole pack agree, “Yes, alpha!” I continued, “Now, your alpha heir would like to make an announcement, then I will clarify it.” I watched as Matthew and Joshua stood Kenny and Douglas on the table. Kenny put his arm over Douglas’ shoulder and puffed out his chest. He yelled, “My beta, Douglath!” Everyone l
Two months later, Cold Springs Pack was really starting to transform. The school buildings, the rec center and the Jo-Ann Fabrics store were all being built at the same time. The roads leading to each had been created and parking lots for each had been cleared. I had the franchise agreement signed within a week, because I was able to pay all franchise fees for a term of ten years up-front. When they had that much money offered to them, they couldn’t refuse. Jessica started sleeping all night at one month old and Joshua and I couldn’t have been happier about it. I sometimes wondered if she had already started having visions, because she was waking up so much more than our boys did. There was no way to tell if she was. Joshua and I decided that we needed to go down to Red Moon Pack for a couple of days, just to introduce her and have our pack meeting about her. I know that since we already had two oracles in the pack, it won’t be a big issue for Red Moon to keep her abilities to themsel
Joshua’s back stiffened instantly so I started rubbing comforting circles on his back to help him chill out before he answered. Joshua linked, “Thank you, love. I needed that.” Then he turned to the man and replied, “A gifted wolf of any kind makes a pack much stronger. They are highly sought after by alphas with nefarious intent. An oracle has the ability to see into the future from a very early age. Our daughter will be training at Red Moon Pack with a couple of my mate’s cousins to learn how to deal with the things she sees and what to do with them.” The man lowered his gaze, “I’m so sorry, Beta Joshua. I didn’t mean to sound bitter, but Alpha said he would take questions after the meeting, but with all the other excitement, he probably just forgot. Your secret is safe with me. Co-Beta, thank you for all you are going to do for our pack. I think they are all really good ideas.” I smiled, “You’re very welcome. I want to see our pack happy and flourishing.” Joshua replied, “You’re fin
One week later, Alpha Matthew called a mandatory pack meeting for all pack members. Joshua and I had decided to eat dinner in the dining room with our children this evening, so that we could make it to the meeting. We were bombarded with pack members constantly walking up to us and gushing over all of our kids. Joshua waited until no one else was around us and leaned into me, “This is what happens when we don’t eat with the pack regularly.” I sighed, “Okay. I get it. Should we eat down here a couple nights a week?” He replied, “That might not be a bad idea. It may get to be a bit much for you to cook after you work in your office all day. Especially with these three, if you aren’t going to use the daycare.” I sighed, “I want all of our kids to learn by example. They will learn what a co-beta does and what a beta does by watching us. I think that’s really important. I would also like our girls to spend time watching Jessie too. Some of our girls may end up being luna.” Josh laughed, “
