I appreciate all the well wishes. I still have no definitive answers as to what is going on with me. Good news is my heart is fine. Bad news is lungs are slightly worse and there are still no answers for my mobility issues. Oh well, such is my life. I will get through it. As always, I do hope you enjoyed this chapter. I would love to read your comments.
I asked Joshua, “Do you think we could take a vacation somewhere tropical sometime?” He nodded, “Oh, I think we could arrange that. It may take a while, but I’m sure we could do it. We should wait until after you have the boys though. Flying can be hard on a pregnancy.” I shrugged, “I understand. We could make it a family vacation.” He smiled, “That does sound great.” I sighed as I cleared the table and washed the dishes, putting them in the dish drainer to dry. I dried my hands and went to the living room and sat on the couch with Joshua. I leaned against him, allowing him to wrap his arms around me. I asked, “Have you heard anything about the battle?” I felt his chest rumble as he answered, “Uh-uh. Not a word.” I asked, “Should we link someone and ask?” He answered, “You can try, if you want.” I searched the mind link for Andrew and waited for him to answer, “Hey Alpha, I was just about to link you. I can see an old cabin from where we are fighting. I hope you aren’t in it.” I asked
I have had several comments asking for the fry bread recipe, so I thought I would include a free chapter with the recipe. I never measure anything when I make it, so this is the recipe closest to what I do. Authentic Indian Frybread 4 cups flour ▢1 teaspoons salt ▢1 ½ tablespoons baking powder ▢1 ½ or more cups hot water ▢2-3 tablespoons vegetable oil ▢1 quart vegetable oil for frying Instructions In a large mixing bowl, stir together the flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add in the water, mixing with a spoon or your hands until combined. It will be sticky. Drizzle 2-3 tablespoons of oil over the dough to keep it from drying out. Cover and let rest 2 hours. This is not a risen dough so the dough will not rise, but it does need to rest. Pull off golf ball sized pieces of dough and stretch or roll out until very thin, without ripping it. The thinner the better. Pour enough vegetable oil into a pot to cover it with 2 inches of oil. Heat to 350 degrees F. Workin
As a way to kill some time, I made some fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and hot-hot for dinner with a blackberry cobbler for dessert. Joshua laughed when he sat at the table, “You would think we are having company for dinner.” I laughed, “Well, we will have leftovers for later.” He smiled, “Very true. I could have blackberry cobbler for breakfast. That would just be perfect for me.” I laughed as I shook my head, “I just wanted to kill some time. I’m worried about this battle. It’s taking a lot longer than it should. I can’t help but worry if they brought more rogues to the battle.” He agreed, “I’ve been thinking the same thing. All we can do is wait for a mind link.” I nodded, “I’m not going to try to link any of them. I don’t want to distract them.” Joshua nodded in agreement and sighed, “After dinner, why don’t we play spades?” I smirked, “Now I know you’re bored. You’re actually asking to get your butt kicked.” He just laughed and shook his head as we continue
After eating my breakfast and taking a shower, I put on a pink sundress and looked in the full-length mirror in the bedroom. My belly was already huge and I was five months pregnant. I couldn’t help but wonder what I was going to look like in three months. I decided to just accept it because there was nothing I could do about it. It was just another price to pay for bringing two new lives into the world. I rubbed my belly and sighed, “Kyle, Kenny, I don’t care what you do to my body. I will heal from it quickly. All I want is for you boys to be happy.” Then I felt it. One of them kicked… hard. I laughed as I rubbed my belly, “You aren’t going to take it easy on mommy; are you?” I walked into the kitchen and poured a cup of coffee. I joined my mate on the couch and asked, “What movie caught your eye? Should I make popcorn?” He smiled as he put his arm around me and I leaned into his chest, “It’s a bit early for popcorn. The movie is a modern version of the story of King Arthur and the
I sat back on the couch and covered my face with both hands, “What the hell is going on?!” I mind linked Jacob, “Jacob, we have new news and you are not going to like it.” I could tell he was hesitant to hear it, “What is it, Alpha?” I replied, “The rogues took Andrew. You have got to see if you can find Alpha Odell there. If he’s up here, we will squash him.” Jacob added, “And if he’s here, we will do the same. I am choosing the warriors now.” I reminded him, “I want you to stay with the pack. He is trying to get to me by taking as many of my ranked members as he can. I want you to increase security around you and your family. I have a feeling he will try for you next.” Joshua asked, “Are you okay, love?” I shook my head, “No, I’m not. They are doing this to get to me. I know it.” Joshua agreed, “Yes, they are. They left a note. They want you at the place they took Andrew from at midnight tonight or they will kill Andrew.” I growled, “Alpha Odell will be dead long before then.” Joshu
I started relaxing in my mate’s arms when Jacob linked me, “Alpha.” I answered, “Jacob, how is it going?” He replied, “It’s going well. They found Alpha Odell and his mate. They met him on the road. They turned around and followed him to our pack. They had parked down the street from my house and his warriors started walking toward my house. The guards that I had set up around my house were able to take care of them. Alpha Odell and his mate came to the pack house with some warriors. Our team around the pack house was able to get them. They captured Alpha Odell. They made him watch as they killed his mate.” I growled, “He needed to feel some pain. So did they kill Alpha Odell?” He asked, “Do you want us to?” I explained, “That’s what the Goddess wanted us to do. He will never stop trying to take over all of the surrounding packs or coming after me.” He acknowledged, “Then that’s what we will do.” After ending the mind link, I smiled at Joshua, “They captured Alpha Odell and his mate.
We spent three more days in that cabin and, reluctantly, went back to reality. The next morning, I went to my office and sat in my chair. I sighed thinking about how much I missed this room. I walked to my coffee maker and made a cup of hot tea for myself. I sat back at my desk and started on all of the budgets for the pack departments. I had been at it for a while until I caught movement in front of me. I lifted my gaze and found my sister-in-law sitting in one of the chairs across my desk from me, a silly grin on her face, “So, when do you want to go baby shopping?” I chuckled, “You would think my boss would want me to work a full week before I took another day off.” She laughed, “Nah, we need a girls’ day out.” I smiled, “I would like to invite my uncle and aunt up for the weekend and I would like you, Matt and Honi to meet them. I want my Aunt Piper to come with us to shop for baby stuff and the décor for the boys’ room.” She nodded in agreement, “I think that’s a really good idea.
The rest of the week went the same as Monday until Friday morning. I was sitting on the front porch of the pack house with my mate waiting for my Uncle Ace and Aunt Piper to arrive. We received the mind link from the gate guards that they are on pack grounds, so I knew they would be here shortly. Alpha Matthew and Luna Jessie walked out to the porch and Joshua and I took our places beside them. At that moment, two SUVs parked in front of the house and it looked like Aunt Piper didn’t wait for the vehicle to stop before her door opened and she ran out. I giggled like a schoolgirl as she ran to us without waiting for her mate, her giggle matching mine. When she reached us, I took her hands into mine and then wrapped my arms around her in a hug, “Aunt Piper! I’m so glad you’re here.” Uncle Ace caught up with her and hugged me tightly as he whispered in my ear, “The mission was a complete success.” I laughed out loud, “Yes, it was!” We laughed as Aunt Piper looked at us with narrowed eyes
