I hope you liked this chapter. I would love to read your comments.
I thought to myself, “UGH! Rogues.” I decided to move to our bedroom, since it was farther from the door. The windows were covered, so I wouldn’t be tempted to look outside. I was in the middle of getting under the covers when someone knocked on the door. I got a little frustrated and decided to let them knock. I had a change of heart in case it was someone needing shelter and started to get out of bed. I heard scuffling outside my door and got a mind link, “Co-Beta, do NOT open your door.” I answered, “Thank you.” I continued to hear scuffling and when it stopped, I wanted to open the door to find out what happened. However, I received another mind link, “Co-Beta, do not open your door. There are rogues who were able to get into the pack house and you seem to be the target.” I replied, “Please keep them away from the safe room! Keep the children safe! Don’t worry about me!” I heard, “But Co-Beta.” I stopped them, “No! My life is not more valuable than theirs. You get downstairs and I
As Matt walked out of our suite, I wondered what he meant by, “It’s the least I can do.” What happened downstairs? I didn’t want to bother him to find out because he did have a grown ass man slung over his shoulder. I sighed as I looked at the bloody mess on our living room floor. With a sigh and a shake of my head, I went to the kitchen to get my steam cleaner. I filled the reservoir with sanitizer and started steam cleaning and sanitizing the floor in our suite until my mate walked in. I turned off the cleaner and jumped into my mate’s arms, “Oh my Goddess! I’m so happy you’re home. I was so worried about you!” He responded, “I was more worried about you, but Matt informed me that I didn’t need to be. He said you were more lethal than one of our warriors.” I laughed, “I guess my Alpha wolf came out. I set up a station at the end of the hall to be able to shoot anyone who got in.” He smiled as he looked where the door should be, “Looks like you made the right choice.” I smiled proud
As the warriors were led to the dungeons, I asked, “So, speaking of the dungeons, has anyone spoken to the guys that I shot yet?” Joshua chuckled, “I think we’ve been trying to give them a couple hours to heal a little before we injure them further, love.” Andrew laughed, “You shot someone?” Josh laughed, “She even stepped on his wounds to get him to talk a little.” Andrew raised his eyebrows, “Seriously? Shy little Izzy?” I laughed my ass off, “What can I say? My mama wolf came out. Besides, I’ve forced myself to be the Co-Beta this pack deserves and the Alpha our pack deserves.” He chuckled, “You’re doing such a great job too. I have a feeling that once this mall gets off the ground, we are going to have a mass influx of pack members too.” I laughed, “We might want to talk to the builders about starting another new neighborhood.” He asked, “Any idea where?” I laughed, “There should still be room in the east lots. Let me know if we need to buy more land.” He nodded, “Thanks. I’m sure
After we told the guys everything we found out, Joshua growled and pulled me closer to him, “Mine.” I put both hands on his face, “I’m yours, love. Nothing is changing that.” I finally told them, “Paul is willing to cooperate by allowing us to clone his phone and let us see all the texts between them. He is willing to continue texting with them, feeding them the information we tell him to give them. In return, he would like to join our pack.” Alpha Matthew nodded in agreement, “That’s very reasonable. But why is he rogue to begin with?” Luna Jessie told him the story of how he was born into the rogue lifestyle. Alpha Matthew agreed, “He can join our pack. Did you tell him we would make him a member of the pack after all this is over?” Luna Jessie nodded, “Yes. He knows. He wants to be able to help.” All the guys nodded their heads in understanding and Alpha Matthew consented, “We need to get started on a strategy.” I growled, “We need to take out Alpha Odell. I can’t challenge him at
While we waited for Alpha Rinehart to arrive, I started going through the cloned phone. There were only two threads on the text messages. One was labelled “Pack” and the other was a group chat labelled, “Pack and Alpha O.” The group chat made me smile because even though Paul had not returned from the battle, they had not removed him from the group. Joshua saw me smile and asked, “What has you smiling, love?” I chuckled, “There is a group chat on here titled ‘Pack and Alpha O’. They haven’t removed him from the group yet. They’re still talking. Alpha Odell is asking if they got you.” Alpha Lucien asked, “Can I see that? I want to see what was said already.” I handed the phone to him and he scrolled to the top of the thread and read his way down to the most recent, growling loudly. I asked, “What is going on?” Alpha Lucien replied, “He has been trying to get to you since he found out your parents were killed. He has known all along you weren’t killed with them, but he couldn’t find you
Joshua and I packed enough clothes to last over two weeks, just in case. When we were done, we went downstairs and found everyone back in the conference room. When we walked in, we noticed an extra man sitting next to Alpha Lucien. I smiled and approached him, “Alpha Rinehart, it’s so good to see you again!” I held out my hand to shake his, but he took that hand and pulled me in for a hug, “Oh. My. Goddess. It is you. Child, I tried so hard to look for you. When I found out that Alpha Ben had you, I tried so hard to get you out of their hands. I’m so happy you have your pack back and you have such an excellent mate.” I smiled, “Thank you. It was the Goddess’ will that I went through all that I did. It toughened me up to become the Alpha that I was born to be. I’m fine. Now we need to deal with a threat that could, potentially, affect every pack around you. It’s already threatening mine. I’m trying to keep my pack from realizing the threat is affecting them.” Andrew shook his head, “Iz
I gasped, “Andrew, what are you talking about?” He replied, “I’m watching the rogues coming in and I am seeing around three hundred wolves.” I sighed, “Well you guys have them out numbered by two hundred. Plus, you have one hundred Lycans included in that. One of them is equal to three werewolves. You guys have this.” He responded, “Okay. I get it.” I finished, “Let me know when it’s done. I would really like to hear about it.” Andrew replied, “Will do.” Joshua approached me from behind and put his arms around my waist and laying his hands on my growing baby bump. He asked, “Are you okay, love?” I leaned back into him and sighed, “Andrew mind linked. He wanted to tell me he’s glad we’re here because this battle looks like it’s going to be bloody. He saw around three hundred wolves running toward them.” He sighed, “Well, I guess I’m glad we’re here too. I wish we could have fought with them, but I am so glad we’re here together.” I agreed, “I would be lying if I said I’m not worried. I
I asked Joshua, “Do you think we could take a vacation somewhere tropical sometime?” He nodded, “Oh, I think we could arrange that. It may take a while, but I’m sure we could do it. We should wait until after you have the boys though. Flying can be hard on a pregnancy.” I shrugged, “I understand. We could make it a family vacation.” He smiled, “That does sound great.” I sighed as I cleared the table and washed the dishes, putting them in the dish drainer to dry. I dried my hands and went to the living room and sat on the couch with Joshua. I leaned against him, allowing him to wrap his arms around me. I asked, “Have you heard anything about the battle?” I felt his chest rumble as he answered, “Uh-uh. Not a word.” I asked, “Should we link someone and ask?” He answered, “You can try, if you want.” I searched the mind link for Andrew and waited for him to answer, “Hey Alpha, I was just about to link you. I can see an old cabin from where we are fighting. I hope you aren’t in it.” I asked
