Kylie
“Are you sure you don’t want to return home before midnight?” Lucas exhaled before his fist was thrown at my face.
I lifted my right arm and blocked his punch with my palm. As soon as I got a grasp of his bulge and hefty fist, I shoved it away and extended my other arm to hit him.
“My birthday was nothing special. I’d rather stay here to train.”
Beads of sweat rolled down my forehead, but I was too preoccupied to even wipe them. Fighting for me was a piece of cake but it was kind of harder with Lucas because he was our late Alpha’s son.
The motivation to be good enough as their Beta was the only thing that kept me going.
“I’d like to say you were looking forward to being the Pack’s Beta rather than meeting your mate,” Lucas laughed.
That’s a truth I won’t deny.
His balled-up fist landed on the left side of my jaw, which caused my face to wince with a slight hint of pain. I was ready to hit him back when both his hands were abruptly raised into the air as an indication of surrender.
Staring into his face covered with sweat and his head continuously shaking, we both burst out laughing.
I know he didn’t mean to hurt me, and it was nothing but a pure accident.
My shoulders were both slumped, and my eyelids were getting heavier. I was indeed tired of training for the entire day, but this would be my last day of training anyway, so I might as well enjoy every bit of it.
“Logan will be here for your next training session,” he mumbled before filling his mouth with water.
Wiping a white towel over his face, he glanced at his wristwatch.
“I’m ten minutes ahead, but who cares? Happy birthday, Beta Kylie.” Lucas’ brows wiggled, teasing me by addressing me as his Beta. He granted a tap on my shoulder before he pointed out the exit.
After I was left alone, I decided to sit on the bench while waiting for Alpha Logan to arrive.
It was already pitch black outside the training hall. Only the dim lights around the Packhouse gave luminosity to my sight.
“Shall we start?”
My shoulders vibrated as I gasped in shock at the sudden baritone yet hoarse voice that rang behind me.
“Alpha,” I called, hastily leaving my seat to turn around and bow my head.
Unlike Lucas, his twin, Logan was more intimidating. With his stone-like face and his cold Alpha demeanor, nobody was entitled to have a casual chat with him. His aura screams respect and high recognition.
His hands were positioned while his feet were in place, ready to fight. I did the same, though my attention was drifting to something else.
My heart was suddenly racing as if I was nervous. I’ve never felt nervous with any of my training before.
Logan extended his right arm until his fist bumped into mine. Within only a blink of a second, I felt volts of electricity rushing through me with his skin touching mine.
I forced myself to focus on the fight. I can’t lose right now and make him think I don’t deserve the place I worked hard for.
A few seconds had passed, and he had yet to throw me any attack. His sharp eyes were peering at me beneath his long and thick lashes with a hint of a devilish smirk painted on his lips.
Realizing he had no intention of initiating the attack, I was the one who started. Firm and quick, I stretched out my arm with my tightly clenched fist.
I had already calculated my fist to land on his left cheek and as his initial response, I knew he would block it. But that’s not what happened.
Logan’s rough palm grips my wrist as he tugs at me. I was caught off guard and that made me just lifelessly follow his pull.
My chest banged against his hard and toned chest before I was twisted into the air. And the next thing I knew, my back was pressed into his chiseled body.
With him this close, my body began to hyperventilate until I felt his heavy breath brushing against my nape. My breathing became rapid with a sudden intensity, and my knees wobbled.
“A-Alpha?”
His arms that were wrapped around my waist got tighter.
“What about Logan?” he playfully chuckled, making me lose my sanity.
I’ve never come to see nor hear him like this. Never in my entire existence, regardless of being by his side throughout our childhood, have I come to have him this close.
In a swift motion, he lifted me with his hands on my waist and pinned me to the nearest wall. Parting my legs apart as he pushed himself, leaving no space between us.
He looked down and took out a wristwatch that was inside his pocket.
“Two minutes more,” Logan mumbled.
“No,” I immediately responded, shaking my head.
With confusion and denial consuming me, I forced myself to face the man with my head held up high. But it didn’t last long as he towered over me with a playful smirk on his reddish lips. Nonetheless, I seemed to betray myself as the urge to kiss him sank in.
“I-I’m just mistaken,” I whispered, holding onto his shoulders as I gently pushed him away from me.
He’s my Alpha. This is impossible, though my wolf’s saying otherwise.
“No, you’re not mistaken, Kylie.” His brows furrowed, dampening his bottom lip with saliva.
“I waited and let you take your time until you turned eighteen. Don’t you think two years was enough torture for me?”
I couldn’t help but firmly bite my lower lip to prevent myself from saying a word when I felt the tip of his nose hit my skin.
“Hmm?” And I was completely lost when he sniffed my neck.
I know this shouldn’t be. He’s my Alpha, and I am just a mere she-wolf who will be his Beta. But just like a normal werewolf, I lost my thoughts and was driven by the mate bond.
His gentle touches make me feel like I am some porcelain vase that’ll break any minute. And I never felt that good in my entire life.
Without any hint of hesitation, I gave in.

I was awakened by the bright rays of the sun coming from the window of the room. As soon as I opened my heavy eyes, pictures from last night were still imprinted on my head.
Was it just a dream?
I immediately sat down and even got confused to find myself wearing a plain oversized white shirt which was definitely not mine. I hopped off the mattress, and my aching core confirmed what happened last night between me and Alpha Logan was real.
With the walls painted gray and with a few baby pictures of them hanging on the wall, I knew Logan had taken me into his room.
Just thinking of him made my wolf jump in glee and excitement. The need to see him fills me, so I quickly got myself ready and made my way out to see him.
I stepped outside and noticed everyone seemed to be busy with something. I continued to wander down the grand stairs hoping to see Logan, but I instead came across his twin.
“Hey, Kylie,” he warmly greeted, smiling widely.
“Good morning, Alpha Lucas.”
Being identical twin brothers. They look exactly the same, the only difference is that Lucas has a small mole on the bridge of his nose.
“I am wondering if you know where Logan is?” I added, fidgeting.
“Logan? No, I don’t know,” he laughs, shrugging.
“I mean, Alpha Logan,” I nervously chuckled back, realizing that I had just addressed Logan with his name.
Lucas raised his brows before pointing out his index finger behind me. Looking back, I saw Logan walking towards me.
An automatic smile formed on my lips as my eyes locked with him. I felt a slight ache in my chest as I got nothing but a cold glance in return. My smile slowly faded when he turned away and attended to the wooden double doors instead of coming to me.
Before I could question it, Logan opened the door and two women went in with a couple of bodyguards behind them.
And to my surprise, I knew those women. They are the twin Luna of our neighboring Pack.
I froze in my place when one of them reached Logan and kissed him on his cheek while his hands immediately snuck into her waist, gently pulling her towards him.
What the hell is going on here?!
KylieThe slight ache in my chest grew bigger as I watched them walk past me as if I were just a ghost. No one had warned me that seeing my mate being intimate with another woman would hurt me this badly. The feeling was so new to me that I failed to snap back.Being left standing in shock, Victor, the Pack’s Gamma, brought me back to reality.“Let’s go, Kylie. You’ll be the Pack’s Beta anyway.” He pulled my wrist until reaching the dining room where all of the Pack officials were seated.Too many thoughts lingered in my mind that I couldn’t even pay attention to the meeting. My eyes were locked on Logan trying to find any answers. However, he was not even giving me a look.“I want the marriage to take place as soon as possible,” his stone-cold voice echoes through my mind, pushing me to listen attentively. My heart pounded so loudly that it vibrated against my quivering flesh.“Can’t wait to be my Alpha, huh?” one of the Luna twins playfully chuckled.I felt like a ton of arrows were
KylieI sobbed into his shoulders like a bullied child, which I never did when I was a kid. I let no one see me cry because I believe that’s a signal of weakness and surrender.“I’m sorry,” he whispered in between my sobs before I felt his face sniffing my hair.Within a second, he lifted me into thin air while I kept my face buried in his shoulder. The next thing I knew, he was gently putting me down on his bed.“What was happening? Why are you getting married to another woman? You didn’t tell me any of this, Logan. Why—” I was caught off guard as his lips made their way to mine, claiming every corner of it.“Hush.” He was smiling from ear to ear.“Stop that,” I murmured, averting my eyes from his.His laughs feel like a sweet melody through my ears. I wish we’d just stayed like this for tonight, but I knew I had to confront him about what was happening.“I hate the way you held her a while ago,” I began.Logan seemed to notice despair in my voice as he held my chin, forcing me to lo
KylieLogan was sitting on his bed with a woman, who I am certain is Hanna, on top of him as they kissed passionately.“N-no… No!” my whimpers turned into anger, yelling at both of them.Hanna was startled by my sudden outburst, but before she could say a thing, I leaped towards her, grabbing her hair as I pulled her out of Logan’s lap.She shrieked in pain and tried to fight back, making us both fall down. My back hit the floor, causing me pain, but I was too preoccupied with anger to even bother my pain.“Let me go! Damn it!”If it weren’t for Logan, I could have removed every strand of her hair from her scalp. Logan held her wrist, lifting her while I was left on the ground, hurt alongside my weeping wolf.Going to see him hopeful that he'd ease all of my worries only to catch him red-handed with the woman he promised me not to worry about.“Who the hell is this bitch, Logan?!”I forced myself to stand up and was ready to hit her again when Logan pulled her, hiding her behind him.
KylieBut I wish I could believe my Mom's eyes, because why would Logan say something like that while my mother was on her knees apologizing for my stupid actions? I just knew he wouldn't choose to lie in the middle of a chaotic situation, but I am as well as lost in my thoughts.I was kept in one of the cells inside the dungeon at the Packhouse underground for so long that I had no idea what time it was. Curled up in the corner, my heart jumped in excitement upon hearing footsteps approaching.Given all Logan has done towards me, I’m still here getting excited about the idea of him visiting me inside a cell he locked me in.I crawled towards the door that was locked and waited until the footsteps halted. It felt like my entire world had crashed into seeing Lucas in front of me. “Lucas?” I called, disappointment audible in my tone.He forced a smile before crouching down to level my face.“Why are you here? Where’s Logan?”His eyes squinted. “Are you being serious right now? After wha
KylieMy wobbly knees gave up and the tears I was holding back the whole time fell down like a waterfall. My heart sank deeper into the abyss watching Logan take steps away from me, knowing so well that this would be the last time I was going to get a glimpse of him. The bitterness of our goodbye lingered on until the next thing I knew, I was dragged inside a black van before it drove away to the Packhouse.Reaching the end of our Pack’s border, one of the men opened the door. I didn’t wait for them to push me out, and I got out by myself. The second I walked out of the van, I thought they would immediately fly away to abandon me in the middle of the dark nowhere. But one of them pulled out a black duffle bag, handing it over to me.“Alpha Lucas asked us to give you this.”As soon as I accepted it, the van quickly moved away. Being left in the dark alone, the cold breeze blew, and yet all I could do was shed a tear in resentment.I opened the bag from Lucas, I couldn’t thank him anym
Kylie“Stop right there!” I screamed as one of them began walking forward to me.“What the hell do you want?!” I questioned, my heart thumping heavily, disallowing me to take breaths normally. But two of them hastily moved towards my place before I could hear him respond. They were so fast that I wasn’t able to move before their hands clasped both my wrists.“I want you,” he whispered, clinging his face to my neck.My face winced in disgust. I kicked him in his balls, forcing my wrist out of the two men’s grip. Just when I thought I could flee, his hand reached my hair, pulling me down.Using my claws, which I made sure to stick out, I scratched his face. I could feel my claw digging into his eyeballs before he screamed in agony. And soon afterward, his hands reached for my neck and seized me.I choked, feeling his claws replacing his nails as he delved deeper into my skin.My body squirmed in pain as I held oxygen. Death was nearly onto me, pushing me to break his wrist with my bare
KylieI could feel tears welling up in my eyes as I looked down at the handkerchief covered with my blood. Hearing that I ain’t good enough brings me back to when Logan decided to choose a helpful and wealthy Luna over me.Without waiting for my tears to fall down, I turned around and walked away. Jacob was calling me, and even so, I didn’t look back and instead continued to walk faster. Hot tears filled my cheeks that synced with every heavy step I took.“Kylie, please don’t be hopeless. I promise you that you’ll be my Pack member, won't I?”“I don’t fucking believe in promises anymore!” I screamed. “They were meant to be broken anyway.”Holding onto my wrist, Jacob pulled back, making me face him. “I mean to comply with my promises, Kylie.”“That won’t change the fact that your own Beta and Gamma didn’t want me. They don’t think I’ll fit into your pack! So you’ve got to accept it too!” I sobbed, sniffling as tears flooded down like what I’d kept the whole time poured out.“I am the
KylieAt exactly six in the evening, I began getting ready for a simple banquet dinner that Jacob held to officially introduce me as a Pack member. I was relieved to see that almost everything I needed was provided in my room, since the bag Lucas gave me which was left in the hotel was probably in the trash now.In the end, I just decided to wear the black halter dress and make my way to the Packhouse. The number of people wasn’t something I expected. I was hoping to see many people, but rather only a few attended because the number of members wasn’t actually large. Their Pack seemed to be very rigorous in accepting new Pack members.Jacob was seated on the corner of the huge rectangular table with his Beta, Allan on his right side, while I was on his left.“It’s a pleasant evening to be gathered with all of you. The main purpose of this dinner is to acknowledge our new Pack member, Kylie,” Jacob began, shutting everybody’s mouth as he rose from his seat. All of their eyes shifted to
Logan“When do I even turn my back on you? I have trusted you with the throne, Logan, isn’t that enough to prove how much I see your potential?” his voice was braided with pleas. My father’s lips were downward, with his eyes filled with disappointment.Every single day, I’ve strived not to give him a chance to feel that. I never wanted to disappoint him. But today’s different. If he was wrecked when Mom left us, then how about Lucas and me?We knew nothing about the world at that age! He had us believe Mom had gone on a special vacation without us. Lucas and I always spend the night in the Pack’s lobby, peeking through the windows, waiting for her; hoping that we were the first thing she’s going to be seeing as soon as she comes back home. But no Mom had come back. We’ve never gotten tired of waiting, but as we grew up, we realized there was no Mom that would come back because she was slaughtered by that Lycan King Larry. So, anyone who might convince me to just forgive them without a
LoganMy brain failed to grasp what Hanna said, staring at her wet face with tears, while I was completely stunned.“Lucas will replace you, Logan.”I’ve never thought of nor even seen Lucas as my rival for the throne. Since we were kids, I had always been transparent with him about how much I dreamed of leading the Pack, even to my parents, especially to my father. Because, unlike every other Pack wherein if the Alpha’s son ends up twins, they both can be the Alphas to lead the Pack, this doesn't apply to our pack.In contrast, the very first Pack elders and officials believed having two Alphas to lead a Pack would only result in disruption in the Pack's governance. Although Lucas and I were both addressed as Alphas, seen as Alphas, and respected like Alphas, only one can step up and actually lead the Pack. And that’s me. That's why I can never lose my place. Not on my watch.Seated on my throne, which I had no idea how long would last to be mine, I watched the Pack elders and a few
LoganI woke up with Lucas standing beside the bed I was lying on, while a Pack doctor was seated on my left side. Raising my left arm, the Pack doctor examined my left elbow, which was wounded by Kylie’s dagger.“It’s fully healed, isn’t it?”“Yes, Alpha.”“I think I’m good,” I said, sitting upright, seeing him digging into his briefcase where tools and medication were placed. The heavy feeling I was having back in the mountains was now nothing and I felt so much better.“We need to take out the remaining wolfsbane before it can cause further damage to your wolf, Alpha,” the Pack doctor announced.Without even waiting for my response, he took out a six-inch syringe. I could only respond with a nod. The Pack doctor then inserted the syringe right into my healed wound. My jaw clenched with the pain I managed to encounter. This kind of pain isn’t even comparable to what Kylie had brought me when she stabbed me her dagger tied with wolfsbane.Just after making sure there was no wolfsbane
LoganSeeing her standing beside Jacob Williams right in front of me, on the battlefield, made my chest ache with a feeling I would forever deny. All this time, I convinced myself to believe I had no affection left for her. But witnessing her standing full of pride and confidence beside another man to support my biggest enemy made me rot in jealousy.I couldn’t help but think that she was supposed to be on my side, the one supporting me in taking the Lycan Pack down, but what happened was most likely the contrary. The war had begun with a single flick of my fingers. I can already sense victory coming our way because beating the Lycan Pack was my only goal and why I wanted to save our Pack in the first place. Because how would we be able to take them down if we cannot even stand against them? All the pain and remorse I’ve endured should pay off by crushing them down. With the scream of anger along with the squeal of pain filling everyone’s ear, my eyes locked with Kylie watching her st
KylieWatching the corner of his lips twitching, the sound of Larry's hand as he clapped caused the wide smirk I had to vanish completely. He kept on clapping until my brows furrowed in confusion.“Hurting their Alpha? I’m impressed, Kylie. Really,” Larry sarcastically convinced, continuously nodding. “But how would you explain what Carlo said? It’s not about what you contributed.” He shrugged. “Because here in our Pack, no one did enough until we won.”I stood still in my place, biting my lower lip that almost bled with shame, replacing the victory I had just felt a while ago. Larry managed to make me feel ashamed of the things I said in just a snap of a second. It was like he knew how to manipulate people really well.“Your courage and strength to hurt their Alpha is nothing if you’re crying towards the death of an enemy.”Larry’s last statement was pinned onto my head the whole day after the meeting. I couldn’t function nor even pay my daughter a visit.I was ashamed of myself.Th
KylieI was hesitant to give Jacob an answer. My mind was contemplating why he would warn me about this.Although Larry’s personality and character are already clear to me—he’s ruthless and merciless. And now, knowing that he cannot accept defeat just adds up. He’s the Lycan King for a reason. Of course, he’s used to nothing but victory. However, I know something about him for sure. He somehow looks out for important people in his life. Just like how he punished those rogues for me, even though violence was still present, it won’t change the fact that he cares.“Do you understand?”I wasn’t able to answer Jacob’s question.“I know you do. You may be confused right now, but trust me and remember this when we get there,” Jacob added. And because of that I was feeling anxious, my stomach twisting in nervousness as we made our way to where Larry requested an immediate meeting.Jacob was the one who opened the door for us and let me enter first. KylieJacob only stopped sprinting upon reaching the opening of a small cave. He gently placed me down, and before I could even ask what we were doing here, he had his right hand on my wrist while his left hand was on my waist, pulling me with him inside, giving me no other option but to step in.There, I saw our Pack members. Some were hurt while the majority weren't. I scanned my eyes through each one of them to see if anyone had been badly injured. The good thing is that they only got minor injuries.I went on to check on Bianca, Allan, and even Carlo. I was getting paranoid every minute that passed with the fear of losing other loved ones, destructing me.Walking back to Jacob to inform him that everyone seemed fine, my brows furrowed with fright that quickly began to crawl into my chest, seeing blood flowing down Jacob’s chest.“You’re bleeding!” I shrieked in panic.I traced it with my index finger from his chest down to his abdomen to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating.“It’s blo
KylieI was miserably shaking that my breathing began to hitch. The black wolf’s eyes glistened with tears before it turned around. My dagger that was still stabbed into its flesh didn’t hinder him from fleeing as fast as he could be away from me.I was left with remorse and dread, not because of what I did, but because I knew how dangerous it would be for Logan. That dagger was laced with wolfsbane and Jacob made sure it had enough amount to make sure any werewolves would undergo severe pain or, worse case, death. But it has already been done. He left, and I couldn’t do anything to take it back anymore.Realizing I could not stay thunderstruck, thinking about Logan while our Pack was in the middle of a battle, I rolled myself up. But as if the heavy burden on my chest wasn’t enough, I caught Bianca not far from my place fighting in her human form.Just a minute later, Bianca flew into the air before her body weightlessly dropped. It was a good thing that she fell on her back and she
