And for the first time, I became the prey. The hunter became the hunted and trust me this deer or rat or whatever animal I am in the eyes of the BBC (scoff) sucks for sure. I walked with my eyes constantly looking over my shoulders. I mean I needed to check just in case someone had the genius idea to spray some tomato juice or whatever on my skirt again. The good part though was the laundry services Charlie said the school used would be able to get the stain off.
I decided to camp in the library during the break where not many students would be. From the bookshelves I found some novels to read and took them to a seat to read, four seats were arranged around square tables at almost every side of the room. I wasn't much interested in the books as I was in maintaining a low cover first so I could get my bearings again and plan the sweetest revenge.
"Hey." The voice came from directly above me. I looked up at the person lowering himself on the seat opposite me.
Tyler.
His short black hair was upswept and that was alone was unfair because it only made him so irresistible and made my mouth hang limp like a fool. Yes, I have always been a sucker for handsome boys but I played this one-off cool with an arrogant raise of my brow.
He quirked a smile. "You don't remember me?"
Uh...Asides from the incident that put him and his friends at the top of my jerk list I had no recollection of him and a face like his would have been hard to forget. So I searched my entire jerk face list couldn't find him, looked through the jackass list couldn't find him there either and he didn't appear in any of my other lists so I gave up.
"I know you're a jerk but I honestly can't find you on my list right now. Try later"
His lips quirked higher "You still have that mouth on you," he chuckled in a way that put me on guard and set my teeth on edge. "7th Marie Avenue?"
I searched my brain again and just as I was about to give up when the name clicked. It was the name of a street dad had taken us to before we moved here. He had said his boss invited him to dinner and had wanted us to come with him, and just like that memories of that dinner in the big stately house came to fore.
"Jerk!" I said from between clenched teeth. Memories of that dinner came rushing in. We had had the best dinner ever with the Edwins and then the adults had left us to do whatever. Beatrice had gotten a call from her boyfriend and had gone out to the Edwins' very large garden leaving just jerk-face and me. I was chatting with Mark and jerk face had tried to kiss me until I kneed him in the groin.
"You deserve what I did to you," I said angrily. He chuckled again. From the front of the library, the librarian shushed us.
"You are very cheeky," he murmured. His lips were smiling but suddenly his eyes were not. The intensity of those blue eyes seared me with both heat and anger.
"Eff off," I said.
"Will do. Just keep watching your back." He stood to leave and I stopped him.
"One thing, Tyler, you guys, BBC? should seriously consider finding a new name and a new acronym too because neither you nor any of your friends have the right tools to do it any justice."
That succeeded in wiping the smile clear off his face. He tapped his nails on the back of the seat he was clenching but soon he smirked and left. I had a sinking feeling I was in for crap, at least I know my senior year at Edwin and co will not be boring.

"It's time for study! ". These four words echoed throughout the hostel around 4:00 pm while I was still running through some of the things I did at school today. Charlie swung her legs to the side of her bed and started throwing her clothes on. The hostel uniform was just a black polo shirt with the Edward and Co badge sewn at the breast. I dug out the one I was given today during the lunch period after school from my bag, pulled it on and wore a pair of jeans under it. Some of the girls wore skirts and knee-length pop socks.
"Where do we go for study time? " I asked Charlie.
"The school building. There's a hall I didn't show you today that's where we read."
She collected some books and put them in my bag since she didn't have any intention of bothering herself with a heavy load.
"I'll carry the bag, " I offered already putting the straps on my shoulder.
We joined the moving line of students to the school section of the...school.
Instead of moving straight up the main buildings the students curve round, passing behind a huge tree with thick leaves and marched towards a building that was totally obscured from the front. It was painted in cream.
"This is the study hall ", Charlie announced.
The interior was vast, as hinted by the size of the building from outside, and in it were a large number of chairs and tables. For each table, there were six chairs with two on each side of the length and one on each side of the breath.
I let Charlie choose a seat and followed to seat with her. What's with the Mind your business thing that can't make me trust anybody.
As soon as we took our seat Zoe and some lanky guy with a pair of glasses perched on his nose took the other side of our seats.
"Hello, Jess, " Zoe said in her thin voice. Her shirt was so flat against her chest it was almost impossible to see the tiny bump of breasts behind the shirt. Some juniors were coming in whose shirts pushed out because their breasts seem to take more space than any other part of their body and here we were with a senior whose breasts were barely visible.
"Charlie " the guy grunted as he took his seat opposite me. He dropped his bag on the floor.
"Meet Jess, Dave," Zoe said to the boy. He smiled and held out a hand to shake "David Winters,"
I shook his hand carefully and offered my first name only since that was all he knew. From the corner of my eyes, I saw Charlie nod approvingly, mother hen nodding her approval.
"I'm so sorry about what happened at English class this morning," Zoe said. "Even I don't understand.... "
"No one cares about you, Zoe, and stop trying to rub some salt on a fresh wound, ok? " Charlie interrupted.
I could have hugged Charlie but there was no need for that since I barely even felt the brunt of what happened this morning anymore.
As we settled down and started to chat a tall, lean form with hair severely cut short stepped in front of my vision "Enough talking from this table" Head girl Annabel Reed announced.
She took the seat closest to me while a junior took the last seat.
She seemed oblivious to my shock as she took a piece of paper from her book and started writing the names of the people present in the study hall. So professional and strict.
"You know Tyler Edwin " Charlie whispered from the side of her mouth as the blue-eyed devil walked in his own black polo and a pair of equally black jeans. "That's Jordan Coker" she pointed towards a guy with curly black hair, a straight nose and proud lips pulled into an easy smile. "And that's Christian Ward," this time this guy didn't have blue eyes instead his were smoky gray, his dark hair was all over the place like he had just woken up but he still somehow made my mouth water. Says a lot about me when I drool over my enemies.
The three guys seemed to draw the attention of everyone in the study hall. Curly head and friends walked behind them with their noses in the air "And those are their bitches " Dave and Zoe said in unison.
"Those 3 guys are the founders, owners, stakeholders and whatever else kind of ownership there is of the Bad Boys Club."
At this Annabel Reed's eyes came up from her book "I said no talking! " she looked at me "I heard you got into trouble at English today? You should learn to do more than drool over people who will laugh at you after pranking you and get your nose buried in your book."
The poor juniors seating with us flinched at the sight of their head girl's rage but if Annabel Reed noticed it she didn't say anything about it. With her never smiling face and commanding tone my guess is she grew up in a military base.
Dave, Charlie and Zoe had already started reading but I was finding it a difficult thing to do since the head girl was right beside me, looking at me so intently as if watching my every move. Her attention was making me uneasy and queasy and she didn't seem bothered to be inconveniencing me I turned my attention to the study room door.
"Are you just going to keep staring at the door, Underwood? " Annabel Reed asked after a while.
I caught myself with a start quickly glancing her way to find out she wasn't even looking at me anymore, she was done with the list and was flipping through pages of her voluminous textbook.
From the back of the study, hall laughter erupted, followed by more laughter and more and more and more... And noisy speeches and comments.
Annabel Reed stood up from her seat, scraping her chair back with a determined push at the same time as the boy Martin Sanchez. The noise was coming from the back of the hall where the Bad Boys Club..... And their bitches sat.
"You guys over there " Martin's voice boomed "I'll not have any unruly behavior from you this evening! You will have to maintain quiet throughout these 2 hours for study, have I made myself clear? "
I turned around in my chair to get a better look at them. They were barely looking at Martin as he stood a few tables from them barely struggling to keep his anger under control.
"You heard what he said didn't you? " Annabel asked with deceptive calmness.
"Yes, " they responded, albeit grudgingly and after a long pause.
"Good" scanning the room to make her point Annabel continued "Now we can all go back to reading, any form of disturbance from any side would have to answer to me. For those who have decided to hide away at the hostel to avoid Study time pass the message to them that they shall be punished accordingly, am I clear? "
The Yes that followed her question was very resounding.
Pleased, she plopped down on her chair and continued with her book.
The hall resumed with its deafening silence. The boys of the Bad Boys Club..... And their bitches went back to their discussion but it was a quiet, whispered discussion. The only one who didn't seem to be interested in the conversation was the one Charlie called Christian Ward. He was scanning the hall as if looking for something while the redhead was beside him apparently trying to get his attention. After some time he gave her his attention and smiled at something she said. I almost sighed at the deep dimples that appeared, lightening the gray of his eyes.
"Drooling over him now, are you? ". The question came from no other than the head girl who had suddenly made herself my mother's watchman.
I tried to hide my scowl and swallowed the words I was about to say to her. Instead, I picked through the leaves of my books, waiting for the mandatory two hours allocated to reading to be over. Charlie seemed to be interested in solving some geometry questions when she's not whispering to Zoe or passing her notes. If Annabel noticed the notes she said nothing about it. David was busy scribbling, drawing on his book. The rest of the Class 3 seniors were holding the fort on the other tables, there was so much order like there was at the dining during breakfast and except the little incident involving the Bad Boys Club... And their bitches, there was no other incident of disorder. However cruel it may sound I just wish the seniors would stay in charge till I leave, who knows, they might have the power to stop whatever punishment those boys have for me. Yes, I'm not some baby who needs a guardian but I promised mom and grandma so I have to keep to my promise however uncomfortable it may be for me and to achieve that I need to live in an orderly place with orderly people. These seniors can get the people to be orderly so if they stay with me and make everything nice and good I have no fear of hurting mom and grandma.
I'm not exactly a bad person you know, sometimes I do care about other people's interests like I care about mom's.
"Should I assume you're thinking of the best way to have my head then? "
I blinked in confusion at Annabel. Charlie, Zoe and Dave seemed to have noticed her sudden interest in me and they shared my frown this time. What's with this possessed doll?
"What? " I asked.
Her lips moved in a tiny ghost of a smile "You've been staring at my neck for the past 10... 20 minutes. "
I blinked again fighting a blush. I didn't even know I was doing that. Could be some sort of reflex reaction towards her sudden antagonism.
"I'm sorry?" I said. What am I apologizing for anyway?
She shrugged off my apology and kept reading only to pull out the textbook I was reading and ticked some chapters in it.
"I want you to read those chapters and give me a summary of it after school tomorrow ".
This time I couldn't hold my tongue "What the …What the eff do you mean read and write a summary? Are you my teacher or something? "
"You'll do as I say," she said sternly.
"I'm sorry to disrespect you, Anabelle but hell no! " I pulled my book back from her "Enough of these already. If you hate me or like me or have control issues just tell me, ok? I'm in no mood for any drama I've had enough of drama for one day. "
Charlie bit her lip and hummed a toneless song, Zoe covered her face with her textbook only Dave didn't bother looking up to react to anything even the juniors seemed to sink into their chairs as they peeped from the top of their books.
"Uh... I see" Was Annabel's simple reply.
"I want you to see I have a lot on my plate right now and becoming your protagonist in this movie of the Head girl and the new girl is not gonna work so pick on someone your size."
With a grin that didn't reach her eyes, Annabel nodded "Doesn't change the fact that you have to report the summary to me tomorrow" she pushed her chair back and stood up before I could even say a word.
I banged the table with my fist in an attempt to suppress the urge to go after her and grip her throat "Who the hell does she think she is?! " I growled low in my throat.
A few heads turned towards our table trying to find something juicy to talk about so I sank into my chair and closed the books I wasn't even trying to read.
No one on the table spoke. We didn't look at each other we just kept mum and minded our own business.
Great! Those words are finally sticking in!.
“Okay, Jessica, what did you do to make Annabel so much on your case?” I shrugged. It was just after reading hours and I was too exhausted to even rant about the vampire-cold-blooded head girl, Annabel Reed. I dumped my bag on my bed and plopped on my bed. “If I didn’t know better I would say she had the hots for you?” Charlie said. She pulled the chair from her reading table and dropped her bag on it before sitting on her bed. “What do you mean?” “Rumor has it that she and Martin Sanchez are banging. Don’t know how true that is since they never act like they do. Besides the rumor was passed by the juniors who don’t even live in the senior quarters so how do they know?” I wrinkled my nose. Annabel and Martin? Nah, not likely. They were like two opposite poles. “I won’t wish her on Martin. I bet her kitty is as cold as she is. And no one likes cold kitty.” Charlie sat up with a mock expression of anger on her face. “Excuse me, I do love
My third period of the next two days was chemistry. Half of the second-year seniors moved towards the library. Charlie walked briskly beside me. I must be honest, I envy Charlie a lot. From what I’ve seen here in Edwin and Co the student system was divided into two, the popular students and the unpopular ones (these were prey to the popular ones). But Charlie, she was in a world of her own neither popular nor unpopular, she didn’t care what category she was anyway, she was herself without a care in the world for anything. She walked too fast for a short girl of 5’4. The lab was at the end of the hall and opposite it was what used to be the former lab although now it was used as a store of some sort. According to some rumors by the students in the hostel, it also served as a rendezvous for smooching and making out. Outside the lab was Ms. Elena the chemistry teacher and Mr. Denver the lab technician. “Two to each station, make sure your apparatus is complete,” Ms. Ele
I growled my frustration under my breath. I was sitting at my reading table with my chemistry report note in front of me, the sheets staring blankly at me with my pen tapping at the edge of my desk. It was the second day since our practical class and I still did not have a headway at understanding the question Christian and I were supposed to answer. The due date for the report wasn’t until tomorrow. I read the questions over and over. Find the concentration of your base with respects to moles and grams. How was I supposed to do that? Beside me, Charlie was sleeping. Somehow yesterday she had convinced Heather to solve their questions so she was done with her own report while I mulled over mine. She tossed on the bed and shot me an evil look. “If you don’t stop tapping that pen I swear I’ll grab it and break it in half,” she growled sleepily. “Sorry,” I murmured and sighed. “But Charlie can you not help me out here?” She tossed again and came to a half-sitting position. “I already
The road leading to the seniors’ quarters was lined with trees and streetlights and the road was tarred. Mr. Edwin definitely put a lot of work into making the life of the final-year students a memorable one. There were flowers and even a drive that held a few cars and after the drive was a red gate. There were no guards but there was a buzzer on the wall which I pressed. A few seconds later I heard a click and a small part of the gate was thrown open, the sound of loud music nearly deafened me. “Yeah?” It was the sports prefect Johanna. She cocked a brow and from the dull look in her eyes, I could tell she was drunk. She swayed from side to side. “I need to see Annabel Reed.” She staggered and stepped back. “Sure, come on in.” As I stepped through the gates I was shocked at what I saw. The first thing that caught my attention was the large swimming pool that took up the entire front yard, it was lined with black tiles which were wet. There were some seniors in the pool splashing
Ask Diddy your most personal interrelationship questions. Tell Diddy everything. Go on! We dare you! Remember, the reason Ask Diddy is added to the school newspaper is to help students interact with a fellow yet an anonymous student. All secrets told to Diddy remain secret. Dear Diddy, Dear Diddy, I am sick and tired of being body-shamed! I’ve been called a lot of names; hippo, a cow. I’ve been asked questions like: “Are you really going to eat all that?” One time I was dating a guy online and he asked to see my picture, when I sent one he just vaporized into thin air, and I never heard from him again. It hurts, I feel like I can’t do better because of how fat I am and I need help, I’m tired of being made fun of, of trying various diets that don’t work. Please help me, Diddy. _Fat Cow Dear Fat Cow, The fact that you name yourself Fat Cow is very disturbing. It’s almost as if you do not see anything better about yourself and it’s alarming. I
“You didn’t say Heather was in charge of the cheerleading team,” I threw a death look Charlie’s way. She had the good sense to look guilty for omitting that one piece of information. “I knew if I told you you wouldn’t want to join again.” I rolled my eyes at her but followed her down the bleachers to the race tracks where Heather, Dahlia, and Lola stood with the rest of the cheerleaders. Heather was holding a clipboard and was writing something on it with a marker while Dahlia and Lola were speaking to some of the cheerleaders. Heather looked up from the board and started to speak when she saw Charlie and me. She narrowed her eyes at Charlie and huffed. “Forge, I thought I told you never to show your face here again? First, you’re short, and second, you peep under our skirts.” She turned to the group of cheerleaders who were now looking our way. “Watch out guys it’s the Skirt Peeper again, be sure to hold your skirts with both hands while doing a flip.” That was an insult to Charli
Before school ended for the day I found myself registering for the Taekwondo and Basketball team. I didn’t want to try out for the cheerleading team anymore if Heather and her mean attitude and side chicks were going to be there. Why bother? Charlie was on the team though but I figured she would survive without me. The last thing I want is to deal with Heather right now, I really do not have the strength for that. In fact, I was encumbered with more important things like the enigma that was Christian and why I was finding myself pulled towards him. He was such a difficult subject for me to understand. He was cute, dark, and brooding, a member of the BBC but still somehow brilliant. From what I was able to glimpse when I submitted our reports at Ms. Elena’s office it was obvious Christian was the smartest of the three boys. Tyler with all his good looks and money was kind of an average student but the surprising thing is Tyler has a record for being top of the class with Christian just
As soon as the bell rang for dinner a throng of students squeezed out of the reading hall heading towards the dining. I sat back to wait for the crowd to thin out and told Charlie to go ahead without me because I really wasn’t in the mood to rush for dinner of fish stew and potatoes. Besides I needed to finish my assignments and the new report Annabel assigned to me. As much as I hated her weird attention and her need for entertainment at my expense, I was happy to do the reports because doing them was getting me ahead of the session’s syllabus which means good grades and good grades would make mom and grandma happy. I was on the last line of my report when I looked up to see that the hall was empty. It was just me in the entire hall, everyone else had gone for dinner. I quickly finished my report and assignments, packed my books and pen in my bag, and stood up. The walk to the dining was eerie especially since the only sounds were my footsteps and the noise of insects. Usually, the w
Hi there, So this is the end of Bad Boys Club. Thank you so much for supporting this book. I actually started this book a long time ago and it has taken two years to finally finish it. Along the way of writing , however, my creative juices kept flowing but I didn't want to make this book too long the I realized that I could do a sequel to this book by focusing on the characters lives after graduation from Edwin and Co. And if you noticed they are a lot of openings for that, for example, Christian's live story and Tyler's full story along with his dad's connection to Heather and Christian. Also, I will be focusing on Tyler, Heather and Charlie's relationship. So the sequel will focus on their lives years after graduation. I may not be able to start the sequel this year since I have a lot of other books I'm working on but in the near future I will be releasing so stay tuned. Anyways, thanks a l
The junior class 3 outdid themselves with the creative decorations they put up in the dining hall. The light bulbs they put up displayed a variety of colors all over the dining floor. The tables and chairs had been moved aside to allow for open dancing space. Streamers and balloons were hanging from window corners and even from some of the ceiling fans. At one side of the dining was a bar that was set up using the excess drinks rolled out by the outgoing senior class 3 and Jake Newman and some other guy I didn’t recognize served drinks to people. There was also a buffet with a variety of goodies and some of the first and second-year juniors occupied this table as they helped themselves to the food spread out. At the entrance of the dining was a huge banner that read “Happy Graduation!!!” Charlie and I scanned the hall. Charlie wore form-fitting slacks with an open-neck long-sleeved shirt and low heels. She and Tyler came up with the idea to dress the exact same way for whatever reaso
“I appreciate everyone who has taken the time out of their busy schedules to attend our 10th graduation ceremony. It gives me great pleasure…” Mr. Jorge, ever the simp went on and on about what achievements patrons of the school have done, he talked about Mr. Maximilian’s efforts in contributing to the welfare of the staff and students, he spoke highly of the graduating students, you know, all that good stuff we already knew. The majority of the students weren’t even listening to his speech but the parents were because that’s what you do when you grow up, get married, and have kids, you listen to speeches because they become interesting to you in your old age. After praising Mr. Maximilian to the skies he invited the graduating students to the podium for the presentation of their certificates. Looking at them walk orderly and with an aura of maturity around them, it was hard to tell that these year 3 seniors were the same who once threw parties and staggered drunkenly behind the close
“I can’t believe we need a graduation assembly before the party.” Charlie and I were at the hostel laundry pressing our uniforms with hot irons, the pleats on my skirt were razor-sharp as requested by Miss Diana. She came to the hostel two nights after the conclusion of exams to announce the date for the graduation, not that we didn’t know already but her services as matron to the girls required her to give us the information we already knew about. The graduation ceremony for Edwin and Co. is done in two phases. First, the announcement of the achievements of the graduating students, the announcement of the new perfects, the head boy and girl speech, the principal’s speech and Mr. Edwin’s speech, followed by the presentation of certificates to the graduates. For this, all parents were invited but the after-party was strictly for the students. “We never had a graduation assembly at Lake George. I can barely even remember what graduation was like back then but I do remember the booze, t
“Time up,” Ms. Elena announced. “Leave your papers and apparatus on the table and move out. This is your final exam in senior year 2, what an amazing year it has been to teach you all.” Her words were heavy with sarcasm. Students stood up and left the lab one after the other. As soon as they left a cheerful noise erupted as the students of senior class 2 celebrated the completion of exams but Christian and I sat in silence. “Ward, Underwood collect the papers on each slab and bring them to me. When you’re done with that clean up the lab.” Without waiting a second Christian stood up and started picking the exam papers on one side and I did the same on the other side. In a few minutes, we finished with that and submitted the papers to Ms. Elena’s office. “Good,” she said eyeing Christian and me with curiosity. “Now you can clean up the lab until you both work off that tension between you.” Great, she noticed. “Yes ma’am.” We went out and began to rinse the conical flasks, test tube
Over the next week and the week after I had no chance to take Heather’s advice because of my exams. I studied hard with Charlie and let me tell you Charlie is a blessing when she explains difficult topics. Everyone should be blessed with a friend like Charlie Fudge who supports, loves, and looks out for her friends. I had expected her to prod me on what Heather and I talked about but she didn’t ask any questions, we simply moved on from it and went back to being friends and roommates but I know she hopes Heather and I come to an understanding soon. My new friendship with Tyler was also blossoming at a rather rapid pace. When he is not against you Tyler was quite the charmer. He is funny and his carefree lifestyle was just what I needed to deal with the pressure of exams and the knowledge that I would have to confront Christian one day. While he never left Christian’s side he did show his friendliness by shouting my name across the dining hall and playfully slapping my shoulder when we
“I already knew about Christian even before I met him because Tyler couldn’t shut up about his amazing friend.” Heather laughed. “He claimed Christian was intelligent, he was smart, he was cool. I think he looked up to Christian.” That’s not surprising because Christian seems more reasonable and responsible than Tyler. I guess they kind of balance each other, one is reasonable the other is wild and carefree. The perfect fit. “Do you know that the first time I met Christian, which was at the very beginning of our last junior year, he was studying,” she laughed again. “He’s too serious sometimes.” I tried to imagine a younger Christian bent over his book reading. It’s quite like him. Everything about him is contradictory; the intelligent bad boy who really doesn’t do any bad stuff. What secrets does he keep? Why does he have a wall built around himself? “Do you know how Tyler and Christian became friends?” I asked, mildly curious. “Not much, only that they knew each other years befo
“As you already know I was impressed with the view of Mr. Maximilian’s house. I finally understood how he could afford to take care of my mom and me…” The house was huge, at that time the gazebo was still under construction. Rachel’s car drove up the long drive to the front of the house where a maid welcomed both Heather and her mother. The interior was the house was quite impressive for a small-town girl like Heather. Immediately they arrived the maid ushered Rachel into the study where Maximilian was waiting for her. Heather was taken to a separate room where a TV was turned on and a show was running. She wasn’t as interested in the show as she was in the ornaments that adorned the room. There were ceramic figurines of ballerinas, shepherds, and sheep on a shelf, polished bronze, and gold sculptures, and some beautiful paintings were arranged on the wall. The maid who brought her to the room appeared with a tray of juice and chocolate chip cookies that smelled delicious. As soon as
“The first time I met Maximilian Edwin was when I turned 13 I think…” Before then Rachel was beginning to stay out late again and Heather spent more time at Charlie’s than ever before. “Going out again tonight?” Mrs. Fudge would ask. Rachel would laugh and reply. “Yes, I am working late hours again tonight.” But Heather knew she was lying. She knew that because she saw her mom pack an overnight bag containing fishnets, handcuffs, a black whip, and some packets. On one of the packets the words “Cummy edible panties” were written across the black package. And since she had heard her mom tell someone over the phone to meet her at someplace in an hour she knew she was not going to work but was seeing another man. But she didn’t say anything to Rachel, she simply allowed her to drop her off at the Fudge’s, at least she got to study and play with Charlie. The Fudges were very kind to her. Mrs. Fudge baked the best cakes and Heather loved cakes as much as she loved her mom, it was uncondi
