“Who is the visitor?”

“Your mother.” She replied.

“Rose, thank you for informing me.” I got up from my chair and walked towards her.

“It’s—my job. You don’t have to thank me. “ Her gaze was glued to the tiled floor.

“Rose, what have I told you about gazing at the floor when someone is addressing you?”

“You—you said that I should stop doing it.” She timidly replied.

“Then why haven’t you?”

She chuckled nervously, “I can’t do it. For as long as I recall, I have always had low self-esteem. I guess it’s because of what everyone thinks of me.”

“And what is it that?”

“They think that I am a fat loser. I mean, no one wants to hang out with me because of my body.” She sighed.

“Rose, look...” I called. She shyly gazed at me while chewing on her lips. A habit that she was used to. “You are a beautiful, smart, and kind lady. Let whatever hurtful words they say not affect you. You are beautiful just the way you are.”
