Maddox’s POV I spent the night in wolf form next to an irate Alpha Hudson. Every sound Xavier was on point. I am not sure he slept much at all. He was extremely restless. Something was bothering him, but when I asked him, he didn’t seem to know. In the morning, Parker walked into the valley with a breakfast for Alpha Hudson and me. He slipped one into the cage and headed in my direction, which was when Xavier gave me back control of our body. I put some shorts on while I was eating. “How was your evening?” I asked my brother. “Informative,” he says, looking around us. “I spent the evening being entertained by the Beta’s oldest daughter, Ella Thorne. She was a bundle of energy and liked to chat.” He looked around the valley and nodded towards one warrior walking around. I nodded, acknowledging what he meant. He wants to have a private conversation, where no one can hear what he is about to say. “According to Ella, her dad has been Beta here for nearly 18 years. He only came
Millie’s POV I have been hiking for hours and have not come across either of my girls. They have to be somewhere, I tell myself as I sit, having a drink of water. When I heard growling coming from behind the trees, ‘crap’ is what I thought to myself. My only hope is that they think I am a lost hiker and leave me alone. There are not many human disappearances in these parts, mainly because no one wants the human authorities wandering around the area. I text Lottie ‘911’, hoping she knows I need help and can track me using our family app. Aidan told me once that wolves love a chase, so unless you are confident you can get away, but your best bet is to climb, hoping they will get bored. If they think I am a human who has climbed a tree, they won’t stick around as they usually have a job to do. As soon as I spotted a tree that I may be able to climb, I ran towards it. But I didn’t make it very far before a wolf snapped its jaws on my trouser leg and was dragging me along
Caren’s Pov I have been staring at that stupid tracking app for hours. It was getting beyond a joke. I am literally tapping out a text to Maddox when Parker comes bursting through the door. “Lottie needs you. NOW” he practically screams at me while grabbing my wrist and dragging me out of the house towards his SUV. If Lottie needs me, he doesn’t need to drag me. I would go at any pace. Deana asks who Lottie is. I gave her a brief summary of who my twin sister is. Deana doesn’t quite understand the dynamics of our sisterhood and I am not in the right mindset to explain it to her. I told her I would explain it all to her later, but right now, what she needs to do right now is to trust me. What I also know right now is that if Lottie needs me this desperately, there is a situation only my witch powers can deal with. But I haven’t used them since Deana arrived and I don’t know how strong they are. I pray to Hecate that I still have enough witch left in me to handle whateve
Maddox’s POV I couldn’t believe what I saw when I watched Lottie dragging Millie out of that building. Nor could I believe the state Millie was in. Considering how Millie treated me when I first met her, it’s shocking to see the state of her now. “I need Caren,” were the words Lottie practically screamed at me. I mind linked Parker immediately after he responded to me. I went to console Lottie. She didn’t appear hurt, but her expression was alarming. I felt helpless to help my mate right then. If we were back home in my pack and someone made my Luna feel this way, I would kill them. Once I get her home, I never expect to see that look on her face again. Alpha Hudson is staring at her like she is a figment of his imagination. But how else would you look at the daughter you never knew you had? She must look like her mother. As it was the physical description he gave of his mate that allowed me to make the connection between Veronica and Lottie. Thankfully, when Caren a
Lottie’s POV’s I am so mad, mad at how we have been treated. Fuming at what those arseholes did to my mom and seething now that I have processed everything that has happened and now the fucking Alpha of that pack wants to get near her again. He must be having a bloody laugh! Let him be near her? What so he can finish the job? I do not think so. I stood in front of him. I am not intimidated or afraid of him. I calm told him the truth when I told him I did not regret killing his men, they both deserved it. In fact, they deserved much worse in my opinion, but seeing as they are now dead, I can’t inflict anymore pain on them. Then he started smiling at me. My anger level just ramps up a few notches. I have never been this mad in my life. Is he smiling because of what they did to my mom? “Who the fuck are you smiling at?” I said, challenging him. When he tells me to watch my tongue, my head nearly exploded. I couldn’t actually speak for a few seconds. I grit my teeth and pucker my
Maddox’s POV I was outside, talking to Alpha Hudson about Beta Celeb. I have a few questions and all I really know is what the Beta’s daughter told Parker. But this information is not fact and an Alpha needs evidence and facts, not gossip or opinions! What is a fact, though, is what the border patrol did to Millie. That I saw with my own eyes and I didn’t like what I saw. Alpha Hudson tells me that Beta Celeb has never given him any reason not to trust him. He has been loyal to him for the entire duration that he has been his Beta. He has taken care of the pack when he has not been at his best and he has the best interest of the pack at heart. When the pack’s population was declining, he managed to bring together about 100 warriors and their families. I look at Alpha Hudson, processing what he has just said. Every time I have encountered Beta Celeb, he has actually tried to fulfill his Beta role. Covering up for him when he was not at his best. Not involving the Wolf C
Lottie’s POV What a day, I think to myself. Not only did my sister fly off to who knows where? But I met a girl in blue, got myself kidnapped, watched my mom nearly be beaten to death, killed two men and discovered I had a real father. Now I find out my sister has an elemental gift and to top it all off, it’s still her birthday. “Crap,” I say out loud. suddenly realizing it is still my sister's birthday, her 18th birthday, and we have not done anything to help her celebrate it. I grabbed her and started jumping around like a lunatic singing happy birthday to her. She just laughs at me. “You have no idea what happened to me, Lottie,” she tells me with a smile on her face. “You have no idea what happened to me either.” I respond with a sad face. But right now, I am just happy I have my family home, where we are all safe. “Let’s go and have a catch-up sis.” I told my older sister. “Then we need to celebrate the birth of this beauty” she says, laughing and pointing at herself.
Lottie’s POV I walked into the house, hoping to take our annual photo. But no one was there. The house was almost quiet. Almost. While I was walking through the house, I heard people laughing. I walked into the garden outside. I saw Caren hovering several meters in the air, jerking left and right. Mom looks concerned, probably in case she falls. Maddox laughing and staring at her. Parker shouted at her, “go higher.” Mom walks up behind him and slaps him across the head, while mom tells her “Not to bother and to come down.” I just stood and watched my sister practicing with her elemental gift. I mean, she has been able to make a light breeze for years, but this is on a whole new level. She sees me and comes down. “Better than the first time?” she asks. “Definitely,” I respond. “Deana is helping me with my control,” she says, smiling. “Do you want to meet her? She wants to meet you.” Caren’s face lights up with excitement when she asks. “Of course, I do. She is my sister’s bet
