Penelope

“I love the knitted dress you bought. The color is perfect on you.” I tell Lyria as she rests her shopping bags on the couch. Violet slumps beside me on the couch and puffs out a couple of breaths.

After her class ended, she and Violet came over.

“Yeah, and the sandals are gorgeous,” Violet says as she sorts through the sushi boxes they picked up on the way home. I like hanging out with my friends, yet, I can’t help the aching pit of anxiety that opens up in my gut when I think about what’s going on with Argent. I didn’t like seeing the cut and scrapes that he came home with last night, but it’s something that I have to accept if I want to be with him.

There’s just something that screams warning when I look at him. He’s almost stiff and mechanical in his movements. Penelope I didn’t think it was possible to miss someone when they’ve only been gone for hours, but that’s how I feel. I miss Argent. It might be that he finally confessed his love, but I feel like somehow our bond has solidified. I miss waking up next to him this morning. I miss peering down at his slumbering form as I place a gentle kiss on his jaw. The way his lashes slowly flutter open, giving me a view of his magnificent eyes. Or the way his lips arch into a sleepy smile as his hand rises to caress tendrils of my hair. It’s almost a physical ache that threatens to drown me. I never thought that I’d fall in love with someone so deeply. I can’t complain, though, because Argent seems to be as enthralled by our newfound love as I am. He almost seemed reluctant to leave me.

Argent “Getting in was easier than I expected it to be. Almost too easy.” I tell Nicholas. It would be an understatement to say that our plan to enter Irving’s office was executed well. While we follow the plan, Logan is waiting in a nearby location in case something occurs. He gave us half an hour with the promise that he’d be ready to fight if we didn’t show up within that time frame. I know Logan well enough to know that he means what he says. Either way, the plan seemed to have been going smoother than we expected. Nicholas arrived before me and stationed himself in Irving’s office before I asked to see Irving. When the men questioned me, I told them that Irving called to meet with him but never showed up. &nb

Penelope My heart thunders in my chest as I approach my front door, and my feet feel heavy as if I’m wading through the sand. Throat tight, I carefully open the door and step inside of the dimly lit room. I blink my eyes, trying to adjust to the low light, and take a couple of deep breaths. When I walk in, the first thing that I notice is that my couch is overturned, and my television is lying face-up on the floor. “Close the door behind you.” The woman’s husky voice permeates the stillness of the room. Goosebumps spread down my back as she makes her presence known from the kitchen doorway. Turning around, I carefully close the door. I wince at the sound of the door’s lock clicking in place. Lips tight, I face the woman. Nothing has changed about her appearance. Her skin is still weat

Argent “How is she?” Sebastian asks as he gazes down into Penelope’s slumbering form. After we shot the woman, Penelope seemed to have gone into shock. She just stood there without blinking. Worried, I lifted her in my arms and took her home. She has been asleep for a while, which concerned me at first. It was only when she woke up for a second on the drive over and told me that she was fine but just tired that I was able to breathe again. Lyria cried on the way and joined her in sleep. Her girlfriend, Violet, showed up earlier and began to take care of her. I run my gaze across Penelope’s fragile form with apprehension. Her skin is paler than usual, and her lips are shut tight. She’s lying on the bed in a fetal position, and her hair is strewn around the pil

Penelope Argent is worried about me. Over the past week, I’ve woken up with nightmares of what happened, and Argent has been there to hold me, but I can feel his apprehension. It’s been a tense few days with Rogue’s loss and the mess Mateo left behind. Another thing that has me concerned is that Sebastian has been acting cagy lately. Whenever I approach him, he finds any excuse he can to leave the room. I don’t know what’s going on, but now that my head is clear of grief, I plan to get to the bottom of whatever is going on. T

Argent It has been six months since everything happened. Six months were I buried a great friend and colleague, killed a great foe, and found the love of my life. Five months ago, Sebastian’s name was cleared, and the Confradia declared him the new director of the Mexico branch. I recruited two new men in the process. Men who I knew I could trust. One of the men, Raven, was a former Army Ranger, and Drax was part of the Israeli Army. Both men were vetted personally by me and seem to be adjusting well to living in Brazil. Voodoo, as predicted, accepted Logan’s offer to transfer to Los Angeles. Sebastian was more than happy to let him

  • The Assassin's Destiny VII   Chapter 1: Nothing is forever

Argent I’ve never wanted to kill anyone more than I do, my traitorous right-hand man, Sebastian, at this moment. In fact, I’ve been feeling a mixture of emotions since I learned of his betrayal─ hurt being one of them. Sebastian was, up until I learned of his deceit, my best friend, and that’s what hurts the most. For years Sebastian and I worked together. I thought we were friends─brothers. However, recently, I found out that he was dealing with the enemy behind my back. Now, I’m on his trail, and as soon as I catch him, I’m going to…well, let’s just say it’s not going to be a friendly talk that we’ll be having. Sebastian thought he could escape the Confradia’s wrath by faking his death during a boat accident, but he wasn’t very good at covering his tracks, which confuses me. However, I’m too angry to analyze his idiotic plan

Argent I reach for my phone, and I dial Mateo’s number. Logan signals for me to proceed as soon as he scrambles my location. From Mateo’s point of view, my location will show that I am in L.A. instead of Manaus. “Argent?” Mateo answers quickly. Thankfully, I never confided with Mateo about our mission to assassinate William Kazik. I’m sure that he would have told Irving and jeopardized the whole mission if he had known. The New York branch, Logan and I, agreed to keep our plan as private as possible. The only reason Jaxon’s men are involved is that they all have a personal grievance against Kazik. “Mateo, I just received a call from a local
