CHAPTER THREE

Avery's POV

"Who is it? Who is the man you want me to get married to, Father?" I asked, pursing my lips, as I thought about what my father had just said.

“Aiden Backwoods, CEO of Backwoods Steel Making Company, you've seen him several times during public events that we attend. It's a marriage of convenience and the deal is already signed,” I opened my mouth to say something, but he continued without letting me to, “The wedding date is already set, you would be getting married to him next weekend, but before that I already set a meeting for both of you and you'll be there, no complaints.”

After saying his piece, he got up and left, but I could feel the anger radiating off him. He's angry? I should be the one angry!

I've almost never seen him loose his composure before. I wonder what Aiden Backwoods must have done to cause this though. I also wonder why he wants to get married to me. Although I've seen him at the events we attend, I've never really had any conversation with him, but I've always noticed his gaze in me every single time. Was he getting married to me to get revenge on me? Or my father? And why is that?

I sighed, as I proceeded to take my seat at the dining table, I grabbed a plate and dishes out my food. As I ate, I thought about what I was going to do. I had no choice but to get married to my Father's choice if I wanted to regain my freedom.

I have to get married to Aiden to see how things are going to be for now. I thought about how I couldn't defile my Father's order and the consequences of doing that.

After eating, I decided to take a stroll around the mansion. I had been to Theo for about four years and I tried my best not to return home, in fear that I would either be locked up or used by him to carry out his dangerous missions.

The last time I came home was about half a year ago, when my father was hosting a ball to fund an orphanage and he requested my presence.

Upon arriving at the garden, I decided to check it out. I have always loved planting flowers and watching them grow.

I grabbed some tools and made my way to the roses, as I sat down to take care of them. It seemed like it has been a while since someone took care of these flowers. I can't blame anyone but myself, I was away being ‘married’ and left my precious garden unkempt although I had thought that my father would hire someone to take care of it, I guess not.

After taking care of the garden for hours, I went back to my room to take my bath and change my dress as I made my way out of the house. If I want to leave a good impression on my new husband I need to dress to impress him, I thought as I made my way to the garage where a fleet of my Father's luxurious cars were parked, most of them unused.

I called the person in charge of the garage and collected the keys to a black Maserati. I needed to get a new phone number and some clothes that suit my tastes. The ones I had brought were just clothes that I could wear for a function, and not a date with my future husband.

I shopped around some famous stores to get a dress, some jewelry and heels, putting everything I bought on my Father's tab.

Future husband, wait for me you're in for a shock!

Hector's POV

I slammed my fists against the wall, as I thought about the meeting I had with that son of a gun yesterday.

“Fuck!" I exclaimed, my body shaking slightly, as I paced about my office.

How'd he know about that? I could've sworn that nobody would know about it. I also threatened that little bitch, Pamelia, not to say anything about our deal so I know that she can't say anything.

I have to do something to take care of him, I need to get rid of him as quickly as possible. He can't get married to Avery, I already have my own plans for her. Him getting married to her would ruin all the things I've painstakingly planned.

Yes, I need to get rid of him, immediately.
