~Drake’s Point of View~

I had to get away from her, from the intense aroma of her. Surely Gage was just excited to be so near a new female, that’s what it had to be.

*Must have her,* he growled in my head.

*But she’s not our mate,* I said, scolding him. I mean, I was pretty sure. She didn’t have her wolf, but I would know. I was certain of it.

When Belle and I cleaned Lola up my Beta had to come in and pull Gage away. He wanted to mate her, mark her in the worst way. He was damn near there too, but Belle ratted me out.

She was right to do it, but that doesn’t mean shit to my wolf. There’s no way in hell our pack would tolerate a female being marked without her consent. And an Alpha of all people should be held to the highest standard.

*We need a mate! We’ll have to settle,* he said, believing we’d never get our fated mate.

I put up a good, hard exterior but I was a hopeless romantic. Yeah, it was hard as fuck to be patient, nearly impossible--

A deep growl cut across the still air and the hairs all over Gage’s body stood on edge. He stopped his run abruptly and growled right back at the threat.

We were on the edge of the property line, literally half a mile from Venom. The lines didn’t mean a fucking thing to those lunatics, and that was why we busted our asses to enforce them. Crazed freaks tried to get in all the time, but they were no match for the Cove.

Gage didn’t hesitate doing a spin move and running straight toward the bastard who dared threaten him. He’d tear him apart and leave the bones for the buzzards.

As we broke through a heavy wooden area a familiar pungent peppery scent filled our nostrils and he grumbled, pissed off. He stopped running, unimpressed and just sat down, soaking up the heavy afternoon sun.

*Asshole,* I said to the wolf, over mind-link.

A massive sandy and white speckled wolf slowly sauntered toward us, but he certainly had the serious face of a warrior. One of the best I’d ever seen, and the most terrifying.

*Gage is too easy to pick on sometimes,* Sawyer said, simply.

Sawyer had the most dry humor of literally anyone I’d ever met and it took some getting used to, but I couldn’t imagine him any other way.

*Get lost out here sweet cheeks,* he asked, over mind-link, when I didn’t answer.

Sawyer spent a lot of time in his wolf form, far more than most. It was how he was most at home, but it also meant he mostly only spoke through mind-link. In human form he didn’t really speak at all, I think I’d only heard him in person a few times. If he actually spoke to you, he had to be comfortable around you.

*Gage needed some space,* I said, leaving it at that. He’d know what I meant.

His wolf, Remy laid down in front of us and rested his head on his paws. The weather was perfect today, just a week before fall weather would really set in. The leaves were starting to fall, there was a nice breeze and not a cloud in the sky.

You’d never know that just three miles from here a literal blood bath happened a few nights ago.

Gage definitely got irritated with Sawyer and his wolf Remy sometimes, but we had to admit we felt better around him. I didn’t like going long periods without seeing with my own eyes that he was okay. We had way too much of a past and the bottom line was we both truly admired the other.

*Heard they had three this time. That’s fucked. Where are they getting them,* he finally asked, over mind-link.

I sighed.

*Lola claims she was taken in the woods on their east border. She was taking a shortcut to go to a friend’s house. She knew it was forbidden to go in there at night, but she was dumb and naive,* I said, only able to explain what happened to one female.

It killed me that I could only save one. It wasn’t fair, but I didn’t know until I showed up that they had so many.

*They’re getting desperate. We need to find out what they’re doing with the money,* he said.

Gage nodded. There'd been a lot of fighters there, maybe I was the only one who didn’t know about the three potential prizes. The more that fought, the more that died. But the more prizes there were, the more likely you’d get one. Goddess I fucking hated it all so much. But quarter after quarter, year after year, we do it.

We aren’t left with a choice.

*So? You going to claim this one or what loverboy,* Sawyer asked.

Gage took his paw and waved him off. While my wolf wanted her, he wasn’t about to discuss her with anyone, not even him. If everyone knew an Alpha was interested they might challenge me for her and if they won, they’d also be Alpha … cause I’d be dead. It wasn’t something to decide lightly.

Despite being a close knit pack, I dare say a family, we were still werewolves. There were some things that were unspoken. They just were.

*Cool, maybe I’ll see how Remy like the scent of her sweet and juicy-*

Gage was already growling loudly and on his feet, digging in his paws to jump on him.

*Fuck you’re so predictable. Just claim her then. Mount her, take her flower and put the thing out of her misery. Nothing worse than a dumb fucking human walking around,* Sawyer said, just enticing my wolf more. He absolutely didn’t like Lola being insulted, he’d not even seen the female. He didn’t know a thing about her.

He couldn’t possibly understand what we saw in her that day, the fight in her. The spirit she has and the strength. She’s fearless, and fuck that’s hot … human or not. Gage was rarely impressed with the females we won at Venom and over the years there had been many. We didn’t want some pushover, our mate would absolutely be a fighter. A true Luna.

*No wonder you’re always out here alone, you’re a miserable fuck,* I said, as Gage turned and walked off. He didn’t respond.

Our pack lands were so vast you couldn’t even always mind-link someone at the other end. We had some walkie talkies in various cabins should the need arise but there were always dozens on patrol so they weren’t too necessary. You could always get someone to relay a message.

Before I knew it, Gage had led us to one of the training fields, not ready to go home. My cabin was a few over from where Lola was set up and it was just too tempting to be around her right now. I needed to give her some room to heal and--

*Alpha? The human is up and walking around in just your sleeveless t-shirt you may wanna come back,* Dane said, over mind-link.

A low rumble broke out of Gage’s chest at the visual and that others could be seeing her. She had perfectly firm legs and succulent thighs, I was willing to bet she was a runner. I also knew how full and lush her breasts were, and if another male was gawking at her he might lose his eyes.

Gage broke into a full sprint, not stopping until we got back home. We quickly shifted and I threw on some cargo shorts. I liked pockets and the people that made our clothes were always sure to get me the right things.

I bolted out into the midway, it was what we called kind of the center. There was a long strip modeled after a street in a town with cabins on either side. There were also areas for food and supply distribution.

Her delicate floral scent hit me quickly and I followed it to her. She was sitting on the top of a picnic table, deep in a conversation with Kasie. Just great. It’s likely she already knows all the latest gossip now.

Dane gave me a nod in the distance and I returned it. He wasn’t usually in my sector. The pack was divided into four sort of zones since there was so much ground to cover. Dane liked it to the south where the weather was always a bit hotter.

Lola had her legs crossed and her thighs were on full display, I definitely took in several males gawking at her. I wasn’t sure I could blame them, she was a sight for sore eyes. She had long flowy brown hair and green eyes, something we didn’t see a whole lot. Added to her allure.

“Looks like you’re feeling better,” I said, crossing my arms.

“Ohh what a show off. Don’t let him intimidate you Lo. He’s a sweetheart,” Kasie said, jumping off the bench.

Lo?? What, they're already best friends?

“Let’s get you some proper clothing,” I said, flicking my head.

Lola burst out laughing.

“Uhm it’s literally skin central out here. Not that I’m complaining! This is like being in the boy’s locker room,” she giggled.

I quickly took in a couple men, totally nude. It wasn’t at all uncommon as they might have just finished a run and shifted. They might be about to. We’d rather just be naked than shred clothing.

“You’re a human, it’s not appropriate,” I snapped.

She made a face and jumped down, her breasts heaving with the movement. I instantly felt my cock stiffen at the visual.

*Hmm, she’ll make a good mother,* Gage said, practically salivating.

Most she-wolves had small tits, it was just a fact. They had lean and fit bodies, not usually a lot of cushion. But Lola was filled out in all the right places. With curves that could drive a male to do crazy shit. Like fight for her to the death in a field filled with a hundred other wolves.

“You tell me I’m a wolf, you tell me I’m a human, which is it,” she scoffed, showing her age. Little brat.

I stepped to her, getting in her face. Well, she still had to look up at me, which I appreciated.

“You are a shifter, make no mistake. But until we can awaken your wolf, you are very much a human and unmated. You’re damn lucky my men have restraint and the fear of the consequences they would have for mounting you,” I said, quite serious.

Her eyes grew wide and she made a face.

“Okay,” she simply said, as I turned to lead her back to her cabin.

Once inside I went to a sack that likely had just been left. Belle had given measurements to our dressmakers and they’d come through. I found some pants and handed them to her.

“I expect you to be fully clothed when you’re in public. These males don’t see a lot of females that look like you,” I said, as I turned to give her privacy.

“Yeah and why is that, where the hell are all the women,” she said, practically shouting.

“Did you ever notice in your human town that there were more females than males,” I asked, knowing the answer.

I finally turned to face her, and she was dressed. She looked deep in thought.

“I guess I never paid attention but now that you point it out…” she trailed off.

“Over the last couple of decades our smaller packs have been raided and disbanded. Or fully annihilated. Most parents took their pups into the cities, against the laws of said cities. But it was the only way to ensure their safety. In turn, you’re likely not aware of what you are and that if noticed by the wrong people you’re a sitting duck,” I said, sitting down.

She sat across from me.

“Who the hell were those people? Those … freaks? Why do they do that, how do they get away with it,” she said, near tears.

I sighed and rubbed my face.

“When a wolf doesn’t have a pack or a family he’s considered a rogue. It’s an extremely dangerous thing to be. A wolf needs community, needs to feel useful and that he belongs. If he’s alone he’ll do very desperate things to survive. The pack to our far north east is called Venom. Because as you saw firsthand they are pure poison in every sense of the word. They want chaos and believe only the strongest survive. They take unknowing she-wolves from the cities and stage these combats. They charge a fee to even do it,” I said, trying to stop myself. I’d already said way too much.

“You PAY to fight and potentially get killed,” she said in shock.

“You pay to save a female from them. You fight to find your mate. The hope of finding your mate,” I said, pouring a glass of water.

“What is this mate crap you guys keep going on about,” she said, as if annoyed.

Mate … crap? Gage nearly growled, he stirred in the back of my mind.

I made her wait as I chugged the glass down. Why did I feel almost nervous in her presence? A need to show my dominance to her? I didn’t want her to see me as weak. But then again she’d more than seen what Gage could do.

“Your mate is the entire reason for your existence. Your mate is why you breathe, why you live. You do it all to find her. That one, perfect being that completes you,” I said, standing and walking away.

One of the best stories I have started so far. Well edited. I have a fantasy story I wrote. Deconstruction of a fairytale. How would I submit it for review and possible addition to the app?

~Lola’s Point of View~ When someone backs me into a corner, I don’t cower. I don’t shake and whine like a little baby. I rise to the occasion and this place … this whole situation, will be no different. These guys around here eye me like a piece of meat, maybe I should act like one. I really didn’t know what it was about Drake that turned me on so much. He pushed every single one of my buttons and yet I hardly ever got more than a few words with him before he walked away. He was infuriating. It had now been a week that I’d been trying to get used to pack life. I’d met more women and even kids although they called them “pups” which was just bizarre. During the day most women were busy with their duties but it wasn’t like the men weren’t too. Everyone had a purpose, a role and certain things were expected of them. I was shocked to learn some cabins didn’t have electricity, but solar panels were expensive and I supposed they couldn’t all have them. Only the cabins in about a mile rad

  • The Alphas Of Black Cove: The Fight For Love   6 - The Rejection

~Drake’s Point of View~ *Yes! Say yes,* Gage shouted, practically pushing himself through my skin. He wanted nothing more than to shift and claim this female who was professing her desire for us. She was beautiful, she seemed pretty intelligent, just immature. I did something I’ve literally never done before: I completely fucking blanked. I didn’t move, I didn’t speak. I froze. A sharp elbow hit me in the gut and I shook myself out of it. “Go get her Alpha,” someone said, encouraging me. Suddenly catcalls and whistles broke out all over, and Lola raised her head to look at me. I finally figured out how to move my feet and stalked toward her. She had some balls, I’d give her that. But this is just not how this is done. There was also little chance she’d met all the males we had to offer, likely only half. Her fated mate could very well still be out there. Stay calm Drake, stay calm. Literally everyone is watching you, Jett is watching you. When I first agreed to be Alpha alon

  • The Alphas Of Black Cove: The Fight For Love   7 - Second Opinion

~Lola’s Point of View~ I laid in bed, tossing and turning. Part of me felt like I’d humiliated myself, the other part felt that Drake humiliated me. Granted I was putting on a hell of a show, full on Oscar winning performance if I do say. But he rejected me. Yeah I guess I have no clue what it is to find your fated mate, clearly I haven’t. It’s likely I won’t, just seems like some fairy tale. Some mumbo jumbo. There was a couple I’d met though, Ty and Bethany. They were fated mates and they couldn’t look more opposite. She was actually taller than him but together, they just fit and were totally adorable. Everything about their actions showed how in love they were. They had twin girls and another one on the way. A part of me tried to understand Drake’s logic, but the cold black part of my heart that was just desperate to go home didn’t really care. I had to be in my mom’s arms again, I had to feel my dad’s warmth and hear his laugh. My friends … did they miss me the same as I mis

  • The Alphas Of Black Cove: The Fight For Love   8 - Deceit

~Drake’s Point of View~ “Lost are you,” I said, crossing my arms over my chest. She was easily half a mile from her cabin and it didn’t appear anyone escorted her here. Although everyone thinks we’re together so males might be afraid to go near her. Either way, she shouldn’t be out here alone. “Uhm…” she said, her eyes dropping straight to my dick. I grinned, and Gage practically did a backflip. We were extremely proud of our body, just rarely had the chance to show it off to a female. And certainly not one that hours ago was begging for my bite. I hadn’t planned on her seeing me like this right now but too late. I was completely erect, as were most who’d been on the hunt. It had been a long day but we were all full of adrenaline. We’d gotten some major kills and we’d gotten more than enough meat to last us weeks. Not having to focus on that would give us the time we needed to prepare for winter. “We got this Alpha, go home,” someone shouted, witnessing this exchange. I took Lol

~Lola’s Point of View~ I sighed, feeling lighter and more content than I could remember. I rolled over and felt the chilly bed. I made a face and stared at the ceiling when I realized I was alone. Mulling over Drake's words in my head, I only got irritated. He was essentially saying I could still find my fated mate and I'd forget all about him. Yeah right! I mean, yeah all of this was supposed to be to help me get out of here, but I'm just not sure it's that easy now. Last night was the best night of my life, definitely the most mind-blowing orgasm I've ever had. Of course I've only had ones I've given myself. But was I seriously ready to just give up my plan and stay here to make babies? I really didn't know anymore, Drake was fucking amazing. I wasn't sure I could imagine leaving him now. The way he looked at me, the way his hands felt on my body… there was no way in hell I was ever going to get that feeling from someone else. Not some puny human boy. He was as real a man as they

~Sawyer’s Point of View~ “Put me down you damn brute,” she shouted, wiggling underneath my arm. *Not a chance,* my wolf, Remy chuckled. He was beside himself, why wouldn’t he be? I made my way through the woods, toward the creek that ran behind my little cabin. She reeked of Drake and even though I certainly didn’t hate the male I couldn’t stand it. Did she love him? They’d clearly had sex or something close to it for her to smell this strongly. She was also in heat, and being less than a mile from Venom this was far from ideal. The water would help mask it but only for a bit. I wonder how she’d feel about being covered in mud? That’s what I should do. Would I let her go and send her back into the center? Fuck no. I had to find out first if she did fuck him or not. If she’s in heat and they did… I wasn’t sure how I’d cope with that. Drake had begged me to come into the center and meet her. I blew it off. Admitting that I had some fault in this didn’t sit well with me. This is why

~Lola’s Point of View~ I bounced over Sawyer’s shoulder like a damn rag doll. He seemed to be obsessed with carrying me but he could do it differently! He was an Alpha. Fuck, just my luck! That had to mean he and Drake were close, I was pretty sure. Man, I just keep digging myself into a deeper hole! Whenever there was contact between us, any physical touching it was like my body just became more alive, connected to him. It was unlike anything I’d ever felt. Even though I absolutely hated my current position I could still feel him beneath me and it was so damn hot. Everything about him was so hot though. There wasn’t a chance in hell I would tell him but having him manhandle me and toss me into the stream was hot too. I had expected him to get in with me and it disappointed me that he didn’t. Also seeing him naked was more than I could take. Seeing his erection I knew would be more than I could take. He’d rip me in half, of that I was sure. He didn’t exactly seem like a gentle

In just a matter of hours I was losing my home, my territory and my job essentially. I’d still be an Alpha but it was far too dangerous for me to be next to Venom with a female. Even if we mated it wouldn’t matter. They have tried to take mated females before. The pack will likely send me south where nothing fucking happens. I was furious but I knew it was pointless to argue. I really didn’t even know the lands and borders down there. I’d always been on the Venom lines, where the worst shit happens. My men depend on me, I fight alongside them everytime. What’ll happen if they need me and I’m not there? I couldn’t live with myself, I already had enough nightmares about my failures. I got busy speaking with Patrick, one of the lead guardians and I didn’t notice that Drake went to speak to Lola. But once Remy caught them together

She put one chubby little foot in front of the other as she took her first steps … like she’s been waiting forever. Like she visualized it and had a plan. I held my arms out to her as she finally collapsed into me. “Ohh!!! Ohh god, I got it! I got it on video,” Lola screamed. My sexy mate was pregnant again, but she didn’t know it yet. I just picked up the scent yesterday. It was likely her wolf would figure it out today or tomorrow so I’d wait and let that happen. I was surprised it took this long to happen again but it was good we had some time between pups. It was damn hard for Lola to wrap her head around the fact that shifters have varying times for pregnancy. For wolf shifters it is usually 20-25 weeks. We had Jess at 21 and she was absolutely perfect. “Did I miss it,” I heard, and looked up to see Lola’s father. She

~Three Months Later~ ~Drake’s Point of View~ *That’s it baby! You got him,* Gage shouted at Helena through mind-link. Gage sat back on his hind legs and proudly stared at the beauty in the snow, who was devouring a large gopher who had given her quite a chase. Corinne was two and a half months pregnant and already growing quite tired from shifting, so this may likely be the last time she does it until after our twins are born. We’d had to start from scratch when her wolf came. It was as if Helena was a brand new wolf coming into her own, and we had to teach her everything. I couldn’t be happier to see her hunting skills were this good already. *That’s my girl,* Remy cooed, over mind-link, open to us both. I rolled my eyes. It was bad enough that Sawyer and I damn near came to blows over Lola, but now we were destined to fight over another female’s attention for all our days. The pull of a full moon can last a couple of days at minimum. I didn’t sleep a wink, my body was crippled with spasms and pain that seemed not to stop. Why couldn’t I just sleep with him? Why hadn’t I just done it? *No,* I heard, making me pop out of bed. “Helena,” I said, barely in a whisper. *It needs to be special, not rushed,* she said. I couldn’t possibly help myself despite knowing I had to tread carefully. Even touching Corinne before she was ready could be disastrous. I had no idea when the last time was that a male touched her, maybe the last time she had a pup but I just didn’t know. I’d already spent a lot of time speaking with the doctors about PTSD. It was hardly something I dared to ask her about, the female seemed to resent me and try to run away every chance she got. Gage liked at first, cat and mouse. But after a few days it just became depressing. I didn’t have the heart to just come out and tell her we were mates. Not to mention Sawyer told me to let it run its course. I couldn’t even believe that I had slept, basically only because my body was THAT tired. That exhausted. I still couldn’t even believe it. Venom was no more. There would be no more cave, no more hole in the earth we called home for so long. But above all … no more males coming in the night and invading our bodies. In a weird way, I’d miss our little bunker. The only home my babies had known. We were now in a large cabin with tons of rooms. Tons of light and colors. Real furniture. A deep breath already told me someone was cooking and my stomach practically lurched me out of bed. I couldn’t believe how nice everyone was, maybe being the Alpha’s sister will have perks. Digger had attacked Belle and Lola, now he was on the loose. There were easily a hundred guardians already there on site but our lands were so damn big finding him wouldn’t be as easy as you’d think. They all believed he was heading toward the beach though, and everyone said Jett took Alice there. I knew he would take her to the ship, there’d be no chance in hell anyone could find them hidden away in the cove. It was a perfect hiding spot and likely how the ship ended up there in the first place. Then went to hide their treasure then couldn’t get back out. Everyone had theories. It took some serious effort but Duncan was actually a massive help getting all the babies to bed. We’d had to make beds out of dresser drawers for the tiny ones, there was so little space. Belle and I were going to be sharing a cot as it was. I didn’t think Sawyer would want me snuggling up to a male. We’d gotten a mind-link earlier that our guardians had defeated Venom and everyone was on their way back. But it could be dawn before they’d be back. I’d gotten some weird feelings and sensations through my mate bond for the last couple of hours and I didn’t know what to make of it all. Sawyer was sad, but yet happy and relieved. Jett’s wolf must have sensed it at the same moment because he dropped my foot and leapt to the window. There were two guardians on patrol outside the house and I immediately realized that wasn’t enough. An awful kind of dread fell over me, and Maura was begging to shift. We had planned to stay holed up in Dane’s old cabin while everyone was gone, but I was too curious to see the infamous beach house and didn’t think it should sit empty. So we passed the cabin on to Belle and her pups, with Duncan going along. It would be tight for all but it was far enough in the south. T

The babies were all scared and restless, having been woken twice in the night now. But this gruff voice in the dark, it was like a beacon of light and hope … more than I’d ever felt. The Goddess was shining her light on me, in my darkest hour. I handed my pup to Viv and took a step forward. She put her free hand on the small of my back as I began to shake uncontrollably. The last time I’d seen my brother’s face he was a contorted mess of anger, rage and half wolf. It was torture to have that as the last memory of my best friend. “Corrie! I’m here, I’m here.
