I ignored the pain in my back and knees and scrubbed the floor as harder as I could, my buttocks still hurting from the previous day's beating.
"Are you deaf or do you want me to bend your legs for you"
"No" I stuttered but as I bent down the pain in my buttocks increased making me wince in pain
I once belonged to a pack of one of the richest wolves in the land but when my father died my mother ran out of money to finance our pack and so she took a loan from Alpha Feston. When she couldn't pay, Alpha Feston forced her to start working for him as a maid and he also took over our pack and every other thing that belonged to us. When My mother died, Alpha Feston forced me to continue working for them as my mother's labor hadn't paid the debt. Ever since then I've been working as a slave, suffering and enduring physical and mental abuse.
I continued scrubbing hoping to be able to finish up on time to be able to wash the windows. If I didn't finish my chores I won't be given any food.
"What happened to the food in the kitchen" Lunar Esdel roared as she emerged from the kitchen, I rose to my feet instantly "you idiot" she landed a hot slap across my face as she stood in front of me "how dare you burn my food"
"But I didn't ma'am" I stuttered, "I thought you asked Harolden to tend to the food, you asked me to scrub this place, so I left the kitchen"
"How dare you say sure a thing" she shrieked throwing another slap on my face "is Harolden your slave?"
Harolden was the daughter of Alpha Feston and Lunar Esdel. We are age mates, Harolden lived the life of a pampered brat, she had me do everything for her. I clean her room, wash her clothes and run errands for her while she partied with her friends and went out with different men.
"Are you deaf, can't you answer my question?" she shoved me, and as I hit the cold hard floor a sharp pain shot through my body, weakening me
"Now listen, you are a slave, your job is to tend to everything. No one does anything for you and don't ever again mention my daughter's name, this is the weight of your debt, carry it. The burnt food is your food for the rest of the week"
I'd eaten burnt food before, I ate it almost every time Harolden was asked to cook. I struggled back to my feet when Madame stormed off. I have to clean up the kitchen too now. Tears well in my eyes, the suffering was too great. I wished I was never born, I've never been happy in the twenty years of my life but I've never had the nerve to commit suicide. I wish the moon goddess would just take me away in my sleep but she didn't answer that prayer of mine or answer any prayers at all
"I could help you if you want" I look up and saw Holden, Harolden's twin brother gazing lustfully at me I turn my gaze away from him and went back on my knees to continue scrubbing the floor "I could help you with the kitchen and get you fresh food" I looked at him with interest in my eyes, he chuckled "but you're going to have to do my bidding. You come over to my room tonight and leave very early in the morning" he licked his lips and I twitch my nose in disgust "thanks for the offer" I sneered and went back to what I was doing.
Holden had been lusting after me for a long time now, he'd been trying to get me to sleep with him and since I'd been turning him down he'd been on the quest to my life harder for me. There was a time he snuck into my room at night and attempted to force me into sleeping with him, a struggle ensued between the two of us and I ended up injuring him. He lied to his parents that I injured him when he was trying to correct me while I was working. I told them the truth but they didn't believe me, I was whipped for two weeks and starved.
"Common it'll be fun I promise you" I ignored him "oh common, I'm sorry for the other night, I'll make it up to you. I can tell mom and dad you're sick and they'll give you the rest of the week and next week off"
That idea sounded appealing, I imagined what it would feel like to rest for two weeks but then I discarded the thoughts and ignored him "please, give me a taste of you" he whined "I'll make your life easier how long will you deny me. I can't help my craving for you"
When he saw that I kept ignoring him, he carried the bucket of dirty water in front of me and splattered it all over the places I've cleaned
"Oops this place is all a mess again" he snickered "you'll have to start all over now"
I fell and shattered into pieces as I watched my hard work ruined, tears streamed down my cheeks in torrents
"You either be my mistress or suffer and die a miserable death like your mother" with that he walked away
I managed to finish up the floor and scrub the windows. By the time I was finished with my chores, it was evening, after eating my burnt food, I proceeded to make dinner since Lunar Esdel warned me never to make dinner without taking a bath. Moments after I proceeded to make dinner, I heard noises outside the house. I ignored, it and went back to what I was doing but the noise increased. I gazed out the window and saw Harolden's driver trying to drag her out of the car, she was drunk again!
The driver tried pulling her but she fought back pinching him and kicking him and screaming. Harolden's condition was none of my business as she always put me through hell but her parents would still find a way to blame me for not helping her like I was the one who got her drunk so I quickly abandoned what I was doing and went downstairs
"What happened to her," I asked the driver as I grabbed her arm and pulled her to stand on her feet "she's drunk" he answered "but she didn't have the usual drink" "what do you mean," I asked but he gave me the look that said we shouldn't discuss it publicly and I understood that Harolden had been doing drugs and mixing chemicals into her alcoholic drinks again!
"Thank you I'll take it from here" the driver bowed in courtesy and walked away "it's time to go inside, Harol" but she wouldn't budge, she held onto the door handle of the car "I want to party" she slurred " the party isn't over yet, I want to dance in the fire...I want to.."
"Of course, you'll dance," I said pulling her with all my strength but she fell, I knelt and tried to grab her hand "it tickles" she laughed "do it again" I took a deep breath as I was beginning to feel exasperated, I felt like slapping the drunkenness out of her "let's go inside Harol, you're not in a good condition"
"But it's beautiful outside, why do I have to go inside, the stars are dancing I want to dance with them" that was when I had her back on her feet and resolved to drag her even if it would hurt her but she said "you're so lovely Silene, you make me so jealous of you, you still look beautiful despite not having good clothes and eating good food, it's why I treat you badly, I only want to be like you "I stopped and gazed at her as she said those words, so all these suffering and punishment because of my looks, I felt sad and angry "let's just go inside" but she grabbed my other hand and said "how about I take you out with me some night, I could hook you up with a really good guy, you'll have the time of your life" but I only dragged her on
"What happened to her, where are you taking her"
A voice called as we were about to go inside My heart skipped a beat at the sound of the Alpha's voice but I mustered some courage and turned to face him, he was just coming from an outing "what happened to my daughter" he asked again "she's drunk sir" I answered gazing at the floor, he told me never to look into his eyes when I talked to him he said it was a sign of disrespect "she arrived not quite long ago, I've been trying to get her to go inside"
Alpha Feston gazed at his daughter with what seemed like disgust in his eyes, he was very angry, then he heaved a sigh
"Take her inside," he said to one of the men with him and walked inside. The Man hoisted Harol onto his shoulder and carried her away.

I slept that night reliving how I and Leoric met and it was the sweetest dreams I'd ever had. The garden,his eyes,his smiles his whispers, his warm hands, his musky scent...everything! Alpha Ailwyn had invited some other Alpha and their Luna to have dinner with him. He was wealthy enough, so he could spend a lot for the arrangements. I didn't know the reason though. It wasn't that something special happened or there was some kind of festival and when I inquired about it from a maid, she told me it was a usual thing. I was tempted to open my eyes by the groans of the soldiers, to see how they were being killed but Leoric kept ringing it to my ears and I kept my eyes still shut.
