Kayden's POV
I stared at the gun in my hands. I was visibly fuming. After all, I had done for Jonas, going as far as blackmailing council members to vote against banishing him after his previous stunt, he goes ahead and threatens the council as a whole and betrays me on top of all that.
"Moon Star and Nightwalker." They are referred to as the Alphas by me.
Jeremy and Luke step out of the group where they were having conversations in hushed tones and join me at my side. "Yes, Prime Alpha? You called for us. " They asked with a bow.
I want you both to summon wolves from the military forces and organize a search team of the very best we've got. Do you understand me? "
"Yes." With one another now, they hurry off to do my bidding. I slip the gun into my jacket and search around the room for Klaus. I notice him conversing with Dominic.
I walked up towards them, breaking off their conversation. Dominic bowed before as
Lisa's POVI eventually end up not falling asleep. It was an impossible task to accomplish, especially with how Jonas was driving like he had gone nuts. We weren't necessarily involved in a car chase given that Jonas had managed to put a fair amount of distance between us. I turned back and squinted, trying to pick out the headlights of any car behind us, but I couldn't see any. The head start had worked in our favor. A few minutes later, Jonas began to slow down the car, leaving me perplexed. Had the car developed a particular fault? That would put a dent in our plans if that was the case. The car eventually came to a complete stop and the light inside the car came on, illuminating the interior of the car.He unbuckled his seatbelt and turned towards me. "I need us to switch seats so you can drive for a while. I need to close my eyes for a bit. "My hands had been trembling ever since we left the estate. "I'm not in the perfect st
Kayden's POVI wipe my palms on my jeans before knocking on Brandon's metal door. What if I found Jonas inside? How would I react? What if my best friend had betrayed me to help him hide from me? Would I have to punish him too? The hard thing was that punishing a friend wasn't like punishing a traitor. It would end up hurting both parties in the long run.It took a while for the door to open, and when it did, Brandon was standing there rubbing his eyes as he let out a yawn. I felt bad for interrupting his sleep. To be fair, it was only three in the morning, and I knew he had just gotten back from work a couple of minutes ago. This is quite a surprise. I wasn't expecting to see you standing outside my door by three in the morning. ""Do you ever expect visitors?" "I ask playfully."He replies to me with another yawn before stepping to the side, allowing me to enter. I make a beeline for one of his couches and collapse
Lisa's POVI groaned as I felt Jonas tap me rapidly.Lisa, for the last time, wake up. We don't have time on our side. "I swat his hand away and snuggle deeper into the covers. Silence. I felt myself drifting off again. I wanted to sleep all day."Lisa, you're getting me angry. You know the kind of situation we're in already."You said it would take them a couple of days to retrieve the car from the bottom of the river. So why can't we take a day off and rest properly? It would help us in the long run. I pulled the covers he had removed up further."You leave me no choice then." Before I could ask him what he meant, I felt cold water pour down on me. I throw back the bed covers, water dripping from my hair. You're such a heavy sleeper. Now get up; we have to leave. We can't afford ourselves the luxury of thinking about relaxing right now. "I climb out of bed with a trail of water on the carpet a
Lisa's POVJonas nudged me. "Looks like he stepped back outside. Maybe something threw him off."I swallow. Good news. Right? Well, yes. It was good news. I still kept my head on Jonas' lap.His thumb massaged my head. "You still miss him a lot, don't you?"I sighed. You want me to say no, but I can't do that. I would only be lying to myself. " I pulled my hand away from his, feeling uncomfortable about the whole situation.I knew my instincts wouldn't lie to me. Jonas. Lisa." I instantly recognized that voice."Brandon, I can't say I'm happy to see you," Jonas muttered, trying to put on a brave face.I raise my head to look at Kayden's best friend."Kayden is worried sick about you, Lisa. He thinks you're dead and the letter only made it worse on him. Whose idea was it?"I turn to look at Jonas. I had no idea about any letter. What did he write?"That's what he's su
KLAUS' POV I slip my aviators on as I step out of the car. It didn't belong to me, so I had to fly from West Virginia to Tennessee. Driving would have taken up a whole lot of time and slowed me down, but I would have preferred to drive one of my sports cars. The handling was way better than whatever the thing I drove up this mountain was called. One of the councilmen's men approached me while I surveyed the scene of cars parked along the mountain road. The cliff where the car was said to have driven up was barricaded. What a mess Jonas had made. The man bowed as he stopped in front of me. The letter B. I smooth down the shoulder of my blazer, not willing to look at him. Has Prime Alpha been here? "Yes, Beta. But he left with Mr. Brandon less than
JONAS' POVI buried my face in my hands, not feeling in the mood for this. Going into this club at Brandon's request required me to muster enough strength, and I had none with me at this present moment.Come on, Kayden. You agreed to join me. Deep down, you know you need a drink to clear your head. "I peek out from between my fingers at the cement block in front of us and at the long line of people dressed colorfully, waiting to be granted entry into the building. I turned to look at Brandon, slowly removing my hand from my face. This is a horrible idea. Couldn't you have picked a better place? "Do I need to remind you that you're the Prime Alpha? You can easily waltz into wherever you please, wielding more power over everyone in that place that nigh
Kayden's POVThe moaning from the couple grew louder. My outburst wasn't enough to distract them. Needing another drink, I headed out of the hallway, leaving them to continue their business without any further disturbance. The scene on the dance floor had totally changed. The music had stopped playing, and the bodies on the dance floor had parted into groups of two to leave Brandon and another large man alone in the center, invading each other's personal space, clashing heads and trying to intimidate the other person. Both their hands were balled into fists.I made my way towards them and tried to intervene. "What's going on here?"The man, who was both taller and larger than Brandon and I, which was no mean
Lisa's POVThe council can't kill me. I probably won't even be tortured. The odds aren't in your favor for you not to betray me when they break down your spirit. Kayden won't even be able to save you even if he doesn't know everything that needs to be done. Some powers supersede those of the Prime Alpha. If you go back to the council, you will die. You're too much of a risk to give out sensitive information to. "What he says makes sense. There was only so much he and Kayden could do to protect me from their family. Eventually, they would have to concede defeat if it came down to it. Besides, I'm just the girl who's supposed to be dead. After about a mile on the road, I try a different style of conversation. What about breakfast? We haven't eaten anything in a day. "
