Lisa's POV
The surprise on his face lingered for a few seconds before his composure returned. He leaned back and took his hand away from my chin. “Who told you about that?"
I refrain from saying anything. I didn't think it was a good idea to tell him about Tiffany. I would be a bad friend.
"I think I know who told you." He sighed. "Tiffany told me she spent a lot of time with you yesterday. She was the one who told you, wasn't it?"
My neck suddenly grows warm. Tiffany told her boyfriend when we were together that she was hanging out with me. There was also the possibility that she told him last night when I hadn't come out of the maze and she got worried. I would prefer to go with that assumption rather than thinking Kayden was her boyfriend. I was starting to feel a little bit jealous. I mentally slapped myself and returned to the matter we were dealing with presently. Jonas may have very well killed Phoebe judging fr
Lisa's POVI decided not to press him any further. The last time we went down there, so many awful things happened. I don't think I want to experience such a thing again. ""The Senate house isn't on the bottom floor, so this time the pain from the burning would be very minimal and it should fade after the first few minutes. Trust me. "I'm still not sure that I should attend this kind of stuff; it's way above my pay."Deep down, do you want to come?""Yes, I do."So, what's stopping you from saying yes? Come on. It would help take your mind off a lot of things. "What if I don't want my mind to be taken off of what Jonas did to Phoebe? "He places his hand on my bare thigh, where my nightgown had left me exposed. Tingles spread throughout my skin underneath his hand."This is my order's first senate meeting as a whole. Everyone will be present today. Some flew back in last night, while the
Lisa's POV Stepping into the Senate room totally freaks me out. That was the best way to describe how I felt about it. The Order sat on thrones made out of skulls, while the Prime Alpha's was made out of gold. They all wore black suits with black ties to match. In front of the thrones were boxes occupied by several of the estate's women, including Genevieve, who sat in the box closest to the thrones. We wore long black dresses, similar to what you would be expected to wear at a cocktail party. Kayden had gotten the dress for me after we showered at a hotel to rinse the chocolate off our bodies. My hair still smelt of chocolate. Kayden said he loved it. He acted like a weirdo at times, but not that I was complaining. The room is dimly lit for reasons no one cared to explain to me. I hated the dark, and I was sure I would have a couple of restless nights after this whole experience. While the women are forbidden to vote, a job t
Lisa's POV It took me a while to find clothes suitable for fighting; yoga pants and a long-sleeved shirt that hugged me perfectly. I had thought about asking Genevieve, but I was sure she would only snarl and refuse to help me since it's her brother I'm going to fight, and Tiffany wasn't around, but I was pretty sure I would encounter the same problem with her since it was her boyfriend I was about to fight. I bounce around, trying to shake off my growing fear. I do a few abdominal exercises as I wait. I was about to fight Klaus Blackwater, the second most powerful wolf in the entire country. This was going to be interesting, but to be realistic, it was also going to be a bloody encounter. Klaus walked into the arena, followed by the Order, who were lined up according to their rank. I did a headcount; there were nine in total. One of them was missing. Honestly, I wasn't expecting you to be here. I thought you would be m
Lisa's POVKayden pushes himself off the couch. "How do I believe you and believe you after what Dominic revealed? I'm trying my best here.""The same way I've believed and trusted you ever since I came into your house. We've been alone several times, and each time you could have easily killed me and no one would question your decision, but you didn't. I lost count of the number of times I would wake up to you proclaiming death on me. It's also the same way we've been together and I haven't tried to kill you either."He raised an eyebrow. "Is that your defense? Is it supposed to pacify me?""You know it is good enough to prove my innocence."Resting his head on the tips of his fingers, he leaned on the desk, lost in thought. "I know what happened to your shelter house and your pack."Are you talking about how I was forced to flee from my home for fear of being killed by rogue wolves sent by the Council and how
Lisa's POVJonas rested his head against mine. "There's nothing for you to worry about."I sighed. He was asking the impossible of me. "I have every reason to be worried."I'm in charge of them. I have control over all their actions apart from their personal lives. Even if they hate to admit it, all the time. I am their Prime Alpha and they listen to me without hesitation. "He smoothed back my hair, leaving me to ponder. It seemed like the best option available to me at this moment was to run away with Jonas. I was risking a lot by deciding to stay here for Kayden, but running away would mean hiding all over again because the Council would come after Jonas now that he is now the Delta. They wouldn't give up on him, and the chase would become deadlier than before.Kayden kissed the top of my head, and we stayed like that for a long time, outside of time, outside of death; two seemingly different people on different pa
Lisa's POVThe council members around us went silent as every pair of eyes was fixed on me. I managed to sit up and tuck my legs underneath me. I wasn't going to lie down like a submissive stray dog and beg for my life. No, I would never do that. My secret had been exposed and there was no need to hide any longer."Following your confirmation, you ought to know what has to happen. There's only one question left for me to ask you, " Klaus pulled out a gun from his suit jacket and pointed it at my head. I heard the safety go off. Will you be the one to do it, or shall I have the honors?"Kayden turned to face him. "You will not shoot her."Klaus let out a long sigh. He was becoming impatient. "Despite my desire to end this myself, I'll have to acknowledge your order." He bowed and held the gun for Kayden. "Here, aim between the eyes."Kayden took the gun from him and began to disassemble it right in front of the council
Kayden's POVI stared at the gun in my hands. I was visibly fuming. After all, I had done for Jonas, going as far as blackmailing council members to vote against banishing him after his previous stunt, he goes ahead and threatens the council as a whole and betrays me on top of all that."Moon Star and Nightwalker." They are referred to as the Alphas by me.Jeremy and Luke step out of the group where they were having conversations in hushed tones and join me at my side. "Yes, Prime Alpha? You called for us. " They asked with a bow.I want you both to summon wolves from the military forces and organize a search team of the very best we've got. Do you understand me? ""Yes." With one another now, they hurry off to do my bidding. I slip the gun into my jacket and search around the room for Klaus. I notice him conversing with Dominic.I walked up towards them, breaking off their conversation. Dominic bowed before as
Lisa's POVI eventually end up not falling asleep. It was an impossible task to accomplish, especially with how Jonas was driving like he had gone nuts. We weren't necessarily involved in a car chase given that Jonas had managed to put a fair amount of distance between us. I turned back and squinted, trying to pick out the headlights of any car behind us, but I couldn't see any. The head start had worked in our favor. A few minutes later, Jonas began to slow down the car, leaving me perplexed. Had the car developed a particular fault? That would put a dent in our plans if that was the case. The car eventually came to a complete stop and the light inside the car came on, illuminating the interior of the car.He unbuckled his seatbelt and turned towards me. "I need us to switch seats so you can drive for a while. I need to close my eyes for a bit. "My hands had been trembling ever since we left the estate. "I'm not in the perfect st
