Lisa's POV
That's a weird way to put it. I don't ever recall agreeing to dance with you. "
Well, that's one of the perks of being a Beta; you don't need permission to want something.
"There are numerous girls here who would be willing to dance with you. Can't you manage to convince one of them instead of asking me?"
He tilts his head to the side. "You're right about them wanting me but I've never danced with you before. And, if I remember correctly, you were discussing how good you were with my cousin." He grips my hand and squeezes it hard enough, I know he planned to hurt me and make me afraid but I wasn't going to have any of that.
"Let go of me."
He smirks, pulling me closer to himself. For that matter, "I do not believe you have the right to tell me what to do or give me orders."
Do you find it exciting to be rude to women? Do it fuel your ego to see fear?"
His hand tightens over my wri
Lisa's POV"I have no idea why. I only just woke up myself." I reply."Oh, right. I suppose I should let you continue with whatever you were doing before I intruded. It was nice to meet you, Lisa. And, once again, I'm sorry for barging into you. "I waved off her apology. "You weren't looking, these things happen."Her phone beeps twice, signaling an incoming message. She tapped on the screen and frowned. That was my cue to excuse myself. Lisa, wait up! She practically yelled as she jogged to where I stood. My plans just got canceled and I have nothing else in mind. Do you mind if we spend the day together? "This promised to be interesting. Yes, yes. What do you have in mind? "As we walk down the hallway of the second floor, she asks if I was a part of the Council, and I tell her that I had the same relationship with the Council that she had with it. I was only a friend of someone in the Order.Would y
Lisa's POVEight hours later, I was seated next to Tiffany during dinner, but we weren't seated at the main table but one of the many others in the large dining room. The members of the old order take the seats of their sons as they didn't make it home in time for dinner. It felt weird and uncomfortable without the familiar faces I was used to. I felt like an outsider sitting at the same table as them. Jonas' mother ignores me at the table, and I'm grateful for that. Tiffany, on the other hand, seemed happy that I was seated next to her. Her smile seemed to say thank you. I don't think she would have managed alone amongst the first-class citizens of the country.Tiffany seemed like a good person, always happy and cheerful. She reminded me of my sister, who shared the same name as her. She would make a good friend. And by "good friend," I mean someone who wasn't using me to achieve a specific goal and wouldn't let me in on the plan that co
Lisa's POVAs I stared down the path of the maze, the hedges seemed to grow closer to each other with each passing second. My mouth had gone dry. I was in a very difficult position with no possibility of a rescue.Klaus, let us start over on a clean slate. Let us put aside our differences and make peace. There is no need for us to be constantly at odds. His hands tightened around my stomach, making me gasp for air. "That isn't going to happen in a millennium. This isn't a wolf and a lamb scenario. While I'm the wolf here, you're nothing but an insignificant weasel trying to seduce her way out of here. "Seduce you? Why would I ever think of doing that? I don't even find you attractive. "I don't have time for your lies. I said what I said. ""What do you want with me, Klaus?"He smiled. Now you've said it. I want to know... " He turned me to face him, and I brought my knee up between his legs, not bother
Lisa's POVThe surprise on his face lingered for a few seconds before his composure returned. He leaned back and took his hand away from my chin. “Who told you about that?"I refrain from saying anything. I didn't think it was a good idea to tell him about Tiffany. I would be a bad friend."I think I know who told you." He sighed. "Tiffany told me she spent a lot of time with you yesterday. She was the one who told you, wasn't it?"My neck suddenly grows warm. Tiffany told her boyfriend when we were together that she was hanging out with me. There was also the possibility that she told him last night when I hadn't come out of the maze and she got worried. I would prefer to go with that assumption rather than thinking Kayden was her boyfriend. I was starting to feel a little bit jealous. I mentally slapped myself and returned to the matter we were dealing with presently. Jonas may have very well killed Phoebe judging fr
Lisa's POVI decided not to press him any further. The last time we went down there, so many awful things happened. I don't think I want to experience such a thing again. ""The Senate house isn't on the bottom floor, so this time the pain from the burning would be very minimal and it should fade after the first few minutes. Trust me. "I'm still not sure that I should attend this kind of stuff; it's way above my pay."Deep down, do you want to come?""Yes, I do."So, what's stopping you from saying yes? Come on. It would help take your mind off a lot of things. "What if I don't want my mind to be taken off of what Jonas did to Phoebe? "He places his hand on my bare thigh, where my nightgown had left me exposed. Tingles spread throughout my skin underneath his hand."This is my order's first senate meeting as a whole. Everyone will be present today. Some flew back in last night, while the
Lisa's POV Stepping into the Senate room totally freaks me out. That was the best way to describe how I felt about it. The Order sat on thrones made out of skulls, while the Prime Alpha's was made out of gold. They all wore black suits with black ties to match. In front of the thrones were boxes occupied by several of the estate's women, including Genevieve, who sat in the box closest to the thrones. We wore long black dresses, similar to what you would be expected to wear at a cocktail party. Kayden had gotten the dress for me after we showered at a hotel to rinse the chocolate off our bodies. My hair still smelt of chocolate. Kayden said he loved it. He acted like a weirdo at times, but not that I was complaining. The room is dimly lit for reasons no one cared to explain to me. I hated the dark, and I was sure I would have a couple of restless nights after this whole experience. While the women are forbidden to vote, a job t
Lisa's POV It took me a while to find clothes suitable for fighting; yoga pants and a long-sleeved shirt that hugged me perfectly. I had thought about asking Genevieve, but I was sure she would only snarl and refuse to help me since it's her brother I'm going to fight, and Tiffany wasn't around, but I was pretty sure I would encounter the same problem with her since it was her boyfriend I was about to fight. I bounce around, trying to shake off my growing fear. I do a few abdominal exercises as I wait. I was about to fight Klaus Blackwater, the second most powerful wolf in the entire country. This was going to be interesting, but to be realistic, it was also going to be a bloody encounter. Klaus walked into the arena, followed by the Order, who were lined up according to their rank. I did a headcount; there were nine in total. One of them was missing. Honestly, I wasn't expecting you to be here. I thought you would be m
Lisa's POVKayden pushes himself off the couch. "How do I believe you and believe you after what Dominic revealed? I'm trying my best here.""The same way I've believed and trusted you ever since I came into your house. We've been alone several times, and each time you could have easily killed me and no one would question your decision, but you didn't. I lost count of the number of times I would wake up to you proclaiming death on me. It's also the same way we've been together and I haven't tried to kill you either."He raised an eyebrow. "Is that your defense? Is it supposed to pacify me?""You know it is good enough to prove my innocence."Resting his head on the tips of his fingers, he leaned on the desk, lost in thought. "I know what happened to your shelter house and your pack."Are you talking about how I was forced to flee from my home for fear of being killed by rogue wolves sent by the Council and how
