A Wedding Off Swords

The wedding rituals were over and I was happy to see the corpse taken out of the ceremony. However, judging from the reaction of the people present I could tell that the wedding will be forever ingrained in their minds.

Well, it was time now to dance with my bride.

We had gone through the wedding rituals but we had yet to speak since I had missed her.

Seeing her today however, reminded me of why she had remained on my mind. She was beautiful, _ethereal_.

I had not missed the jealous eyes that had bored holes into me as the priest finalised our union.

“You are beautiful,” I whispered into her ear.

“I know,” came her conceited response.

“It was a compliment, you should have said thank you,” I responded.

“You stated a fact, I have been told those words so many times,” I did not doubt her; it was hard to see her and not register that she was a beautiful woman.

“I see; what about ethereal?”

“I do not need your compliment, you do not love me,” she said.

“You refuse me your heart.
