A knock on my door jolted me from my sleep. I groggily rubbed my temples as I stretched my limbs. I couldn't remember when I had fallen asleep.

I must've been really tired.

My bleary eyes surveyed the unfamiliar walls that enclosed me in the well-furnished room and again, I remembered where I was and why.

The knock echoed again, snapping me back to reality, and I remembered there someone was waiting at my door.

“Gina.” A familiar feminine voice called from the other side. It struck me as odd that they knew my name considering I couldn't recall telling anyone here.

Hurrying, I leaped off my bed and swung the door open. The gorgeous Wolf woman from earlier stood, wearing a welcoming smile.

“I was starting to worry you wouldn’t wake up.” She said as she made her way into the room without permission.

“Morning.” I greeted, unsure of what to say.

“Good morning. Get ready; I’d like to give you a tour.” She said with a pleasant expression on her face like the tour was such a cheerful activity.

“I don’t have my things with me yet,” I replied.

She chuckled softly, rising from the bed, and gracefully moved to the expansive wardrobe on the other side of the room.

“You don’t need to worry about that, Devyn already took care of it.”

For some reason, the mention of his name made my stomach flutter weirdly.

She pulled the wardrobe open, revealing a large collection of clothes and shoes.

Following her lead, I approached the wardrobe, sifting through the clothes. There were far more clothes than I owned and most of them were leather and sexy outfits.

All of them were sexy outfits.

Was this some kind of whore house?

“Are you sure these are mine?” I asked, eyeing a dress in my hand that looked like someone had cut out pieces of fabric from it.

“Devyn likes his women dressed like that.” She grinned mischievously.

Like I cared about Devyn’s women's outfit preferences and I also chose to ignore the reference she made to me being his woman.

“Here’s the bathroom.” She walked to a door and pushed it open, with me following behind her. The bathroom was luxurious with a jacuzzi and elegant decor. It was also spacious, nothing compared to mine in my house that barely let you walk through it.

This place felt like a literal five-star hotel and I was starting to like it.

The bathroom was stocked up with a brand-new toothbrush, a towel neatly hanging from a metal railing, a loofah, and expensive skincare products I could never afford. I couldn’t believe he got all of these. I had only asked for my stuff and he brought a whole store instead.

He was extremely rich—no doubt about that.

And a part of me felt thankful for it.

“When you’re done, you can meet me downstairs.” She was at the door, preparing to leave.

“What's your name?” I called out right before she left. She turned on her heels, a smile gracing her pretty face.

“Wilona.”

After enjoying a soothing hot shower, I headed to the dresser to do my morning routine. To my surprise, he had even bought makeup cosmetics, accessories, and a lot of sensual underwear. The crazy part was that everything fit me so perfectly, making me wonder how he managed to get it accurately.

I couldn't help but imagine him selecting each piece himself, and the thought of him picking out the underwear made my cheeks redden.

He probably sent Wilona to get them.

I slipped on a pair of tight leather jeans and a black tee that clung to my body like plaster but was still comfortable enough to breathe in properly. Just before leaving the room, I gazed out of the window for a quick glimpse of the environment.

It was like an estate with fewer buildings and more towering tall trees, providing space for fresh, clean air. People were going about their day, some driving in their cars. I spotted an elderly man mowing his lawn and two kids joyfully running around. But what was special about this place was the view of the evergreen forest on the highland, the sun rising behind it and casting its golden glow across the estate.

The possibility of everyone here being werewolves here was oddly terrifying. They all lived normally like humans would. I didn't know what I expected but this was not it.

The place didn’t seem so bad. It was even better than my place, where the relentless cacophony of vehicle horns and city noises filled everywhere. This place on the other hand was quiet.

I exited the room when I remembered Wilona was waiting for me. I moved carefully down the hallway, not sure where I was going until I caught sight of a staircase. Descending the stairs, I held onto the railing for support until I got to what seemed to be the living room.

The living room was of minimalistic decoration and well furnished with plush sofas, and an elegant dining table at the other side of the room. The walls were adorned with artwork and a large bookshelf was placed where a TV should have been.

Sounds echoed from a room and I followed which led me to what appeared to be the kitchen. I spotted Wilona perched on the counter, swaying her long legs as she talked to an elderly woman who stood by a stove.

“Look who’s here,” Wilona said, casting a glance my way, while the elderly woman did the same.

“You must be hungry, dear.” The woman said and my stomach grumbled in agreement, drawing a chuckle from her.

“You can have a seat over there,” she pointed to a long stool which I pulled closer to the counter before sitting. I placed my hands in my lap, rubbing them together as I tried to feel relaxed. They were nice and all but it would take time to adapt to these people who were not entirely humans. The fact that they could eat me didn't make me feel any better.

I won’t let anything hurt you

Devyn’s words echoed in my mind. I was Important to these people, and it was unlikely they would eat me.

At least not yet.

“Relax,” Wilona assured me as if picking up on my discomfort. She scooted closer to me, concern evident in her features. She looked about my age. Just a bit older. I couldn't help but wonder if she and Devyn were a thing. She was a stunning woman and he exuded divine sexiness, so they suited each other fine.

But for some reason, I didn't like the idea.

In a matter of minutes, the woman was done cooking and placed a plate of tortillas and eggs in front of me. The aroma wafting from the dish hit me suddenly, causing my mouth to water. I dived into the food without hesitation and by the time I was done, I felt filled. Wilona made a joke about my eating, relating It to how Devyn ate. She seemed close to him with the way she talked and seemed to know a lot about him, sparking my curiosity about their relationship.

Wilona guided me outside the house and the feel of the gentle wind immediately caressed my skin, the earthy scent of the outdoors filling the air. I immediately spotted someone familiar heading towards us… Mr Ponytail.

“Sorry, I didn’t introduce myself earlier.” His gaze assessed me, “I’m Liam.” He stretched out his hand for a handshake which I returned reluctantly.

I responded by telling my name, although I was certain these people probably knew every information about me. Liam seemed like a cool guy, his demeanor a blend of friendliness and an underlying sense of danger. He reminded me of Nigel, and I couldn't help but think of how he was Kristen’s type of guy. Thoughts of my friends sent a sinking feeling into the pit of my stomach.

Wilona, Liam, and I strolled together, exploring the estate’s environment as they gave insights into the places we passed. There were restaurants, cafés, even grocery stores and so much more.

It was like an entire city here.

“How many people live here?” I asked as I skimmed around me, my eyes widened in astonishment.

“Over a thousand,” Wilona answered.

My mouth fell open.

We made our past the training grounds, where Wilona would train me later, and then the moonlit Park close to the forests which Liam explained was a place of unity where werewolves could transform and run freely, strengthening their connection with their primal nature. The place I found the most interesting was the Witchwolf’s Apothecary where ancient magic and wisdom were conserved by the oldest werewolf in the clan who also happened to be half-witch.

“Witches are real?” I asked, my voice tinged with excitement. It was a stupid question to ask though. If werewolves existed, certainly witches and other mythical creatures did too.

As we walked, an eerie sensation of being watched washed over me. When I turned, I found a sea of fixated on me. People gaped at me, some even watching from the windows of their houses.

“Why are so many people staring?” I questioned, the excitement in my voice now replaced with apprehension. I refused to meet their prying gaze, almost holding on to Liam’s arm to feel protected.

What is going on?

Before I could get a response, a little girl rushed towards me, her tiny fingers gripping my arm with a surprising strength for someone her age. She flashed a wide grin, revealing small canine teeth that made me startled me.

She said something aloud, and though her speech wasn't fully developed, her words were crystal clear. My heart raced instantly, and an unsettling chill ran down my spine as I began to question the true depth of my role here.

"You are the Sacred wolf.”
