It was all over in a matter of seconds. Austin was pulled away from me with the force of a hurricane and no sooner had I seen his eyes widen in fear, they were looking up at from the floor, torn from his skull. An unearthly scream echoed throughout the basement before a squelching, tearing sound silenced it forever. I felt something warm splash my legs and tried to blink through my dehydrated fog to see it; I could have laughed from the sheer justice of it, but I was too badly injured. Austin’s eyes, head and heart lay at my feet alongside his torn off genitals. A wave of exhaustion and relief washed over me and I blacked out for a few seconds, before my saviour released me from my chains catching me as I fell. “Whoa whoa whoa, not yet. Stay with me”, the firm voice said. “Wyatt…you came for me…”, I whispered through parched lips. A large strong hand softly stroked my hair before I felt something wrapped around my body to protect my modesty. “No, not Wyatt, sweetheart. It’s me, C
After a hot shower I made my way downstairs, following the scent of bacon and coffee to a grand marble open plan kitchen where Cole waited for me. “Mornin”, he said cheerfully. “Morning-how long was I asleep?”, I asked, not certain I wanted an answer. “Only ‘bout 14 hours or so. Want some food?”. He gestured over to a petite, attractive blonde flipping eggs at the double oven. “Sahara here makes the best food. Have whatever you want, girl”. Sahara kept her eyes down dutifully concentrating on her task. She was tiny, maybe 5’0 and she was definitely at least one dress size smaller than my slim frame. I thought back to the jealous voice I’d woken up to and quickly decided it hadn’t been her. I greedily ordered pancakes with a side of eggs and bacon and sat down opposite Cole at the large marble table. “So, Nova. How you feelin’?”, he began. “Surprisingly great, actually. Your healers are truly miracle workers”, I said truthfully. I felt brand new-suspiciously so, but I wasn’t abou
I lie in bed twirling my fingers over the naked exposed flesh of my bosom, tugging at the nipples as I stared into the darkness. I had been at Pack Jackson for three days now and there was plenty on my mind- it wasn’t just how all the serving Omegas avoided my gaze and skittered off when I entered a room, or even the way Cole had politely ordered me to stay within the compound “for your own good”. There was plenty to unpack there, but not right now. It was the silence. Not the volume of the physical place, because Pack Jackson easily had twenty times more Weres than Meridian and they all had plenty to say to eachother here. It was my mind. It was eerily still, with almost an afterbuzz like a TV that had been turned off after staying on all night. Ever since stepping foot in Cole's compound I hadn’t had a single dream, vision or ‘feeling’ about anything. When I closed my eyes it was just the pitch black holding me close with no more mental intrusions by the handsome vampire, nor
I shivered in the night air, as much from fear as the icy wind whipping through my hair giving me gooseflesh. I was still in the slinky low-cut evening gown, nipples cutting through the fabric as they responded to the chill. Cole kept his hand tightly wrapped around my upper forearm even as we waited for his snipers to get into position, delaying the inevitable showdown between myself and the Alpha I had left behind. I was so anxious I could vomit. Without warning, Cole pulled my body against his and the instant warmth of his solid form ignited a curiosity within me. He wasn’t unattractive, quite the opposite. He was handsome in the dark, mysterious way that all girls fantasised about with his black hair, dark olive skin and warm brown eyes, wearing a short stubbled beard that only highlighted his chiselled jaw. I wouldn’t kick him out of bed on a good day. Which was good, considering I’d hedged my bets on him-lies and all. The heat from his body enveloped me in his scent that was f
“You motherfucker!” I launched myself at Cole in a flurry of nails and teeth, allowing my wolf to fully surface to unleash hell upon him. The air crackled with electricity and I felt my humanoid limbs break, bend and reform into my graceful wolf. The wind no longer penetrated my delicate human skin but gently brushed over my long white and grey fur, and relished in feeling the power surge through me. I reared my head back ready to latch onto Cole’s neck but he saw me coming, and in the blink of an eye shifted down to his own wolf form to meet me. Had I not been raging beyond all sense I would have reconsidered my attack upon seeing his sheer mass, but as I was too far gone. He’d shifted down to a large black wolf, which was fitting given his human appearance. He was almost the same height as Wyatt in his wolf form except nowhere near as muscular, rather more lanky. His eyes burned amber and he howled into the night air, accepting my challenge. A chorus of yips and barks broke out ar
I slowly came back to the world of the living, peering through one eye to see the mousy face of Leah staring at the floor glumly. She was lost in her thoughts and hadn’t noticed me waking up. “Now. Answers”, I croaked. She practically jumped out of her skin as I startled her out of her reverie, a regular habit of hers it seemed. “Oh, Luna thank the Goddess! Let’s have a look at you”. She pulled up the sheet and sighed in satisfaction. “There. Sophie’s magic has worked its charm once again. See, it’s completely healed!”. I tested my toes first, wiggling each digit. No pain. I sat up too quickly and my vision went dark and the blood drained out of my face. Leah started fussing over me, trying to push me back down to the pillow once more but I was fixated at my leg-it was indeed completely healed. I stroked the smooth skin, massaging the muscle underneath in wonder. “How long have I been asleep?”. “Only about 7 hours. It’s the herbs, they speed up the natural Were healing process”,
I was dragged into the cold light of day by Cole’s Beta Jethro and several other burly Weres I recognised as being among his inner circle. They held each of my arms and lifted me easily up the stairs until suddenly I was outside his bedroom door. “Alpha, we have her”, Jethro barked. There was a pause and some shuffling, then the handle clicked and out came the dishevelled form of Rosie. Her hair was tousled, skirt back-to-front and her sweater was inside out. She looked me up and down in amusement and smirked before sauntering off down the hallway. “Send her in”, Cole ordered. I was pushed into the room with an almighty shove in the middle of my back, landing on the floor in a heap. The door slammed shut and I heard the lock turn ominously. He was standing by the window looking out towards the front gate. “Your Alpha has declared war on Pack Jackson, dearest Nova. It seems the time has come to make good on your promise to join me against Wyatt and call your pack to our side”. His
“HELP ME! Somebody, please help!”, I cried, choking on my sobs. Tears streamed down my face as my body jolted from the force of Cole’s wild thrusting. He was relentless and intentionally rough, pummelling into me with all of his might. He shuffled his weight and repositioned, somehow managing to plunge even deeper into me and I screamed with all I had causing a collective growl of irritation among the men. “Shut her up”, Cole snapped, and right on cue I was pulled up by the hair to enable one the Weres to unleash a savage blow to my face. I heard a loud crack as my nose broke followed by the warm gush of blood running down my face. I focused on the blood spatters as they dripped onto the carpet, my vision jolting as Cole used me ruthlessly. He moaned in pleasure and began thrusting even faster and I winced in pain. He was right-Wyatt won’t have me now. Whatever we did or didn’t have doesn’t matter anymore. The vision was wrong. I was so lost in my despair I didn’t notice the rumbl
