Chapter Ninety Eight

Kelsey clung tightly to Denis' jacket—the one he had put around her shoulders earlier, she held on to it like it would save her from the mess she was knee-deep in.

“I told you not to trust anybody.” Denis muttered, his jaw was clenched and his face was hardened.

He did, he told her not to trust anybody, as much as it hurts and she wants to blame everything on Janet, it was her fault, it was her fault that she trusted someone. It was her fault that she drank too much. She was the one who invited Janet into their home. She did this to herself.

“I'm sorry.” She was apologizing go Denis but her yes were glued to the jacket she clutched tight to her chest. She didn’t want to see his face. She knew that whatever look he had on was going to stay with her forever, carved into her memory like words on a stone. it was better not to look.
