Kelsey walked into the lecture hall and met a group of students whispering in groups. She concluded that they were still talking about the Cole incident which was reported the previous day."I heard he was found in a ditch.""The wolves got him? How is that even possible?""How did he even get there?"Kelsey lowered her head and walked to the seat Janet had saved up for her. She smiled and sat."They are talking about Cole. His body was found." Janet whispered into Kelsey's left ear.Kelsey nodded. "I heard about it."The boy sitting next to Kelsey and Janet tapped Kelsey on the shoulder. Kelsey turned around to face him."Have you heard about what happened to our senior colleague? His name is Cole.""I....Everyone is talking about it." stuttered Kelsey."We don't want to hear about it." Janet fired at the boy. She leaned over to Kelsey and whispered "The boy is such a gossip.""Well, he was found in a ditch. The wolves tore him apart. I heard it was on the outskirts of the city. How
"I'll walk you out," Dennis said and showed the detective the way out. He returned a few moments later and found Kelsey pacing back and forth in the living room."Problem solved. Maybe you can breathe now." Dennis said to Kelsey with a victorious smile.Kelsey stopped pacing and placed two fingers on her jaw. "Now I know why you were so confident from the onset of this problem," Kelsey said.Dennis crashed on the couch opposite her and crossed his legs. "I was being hopeful Kelsey, not confident," he replied.Kelsey sat too. She smiled and shook her head. "Stop lying Dennis. You knew all this was going to come to an end that's why you killed Cole. You said you had it under control and it seems like you always did."Dennis sighed. "I don't know what you are talking about Kelsey." He looked away."Come clean with me Dennis. You and I both know you planned this all with the detective. I'm wondering though. Did you tell him where to pick Cole's body or did he find it on his own?"Dennis
Dennis drove them to the grocery store and when he pulled the car to a stand, Kelsey wanted to jump out but he told her not to. She sat back and folded her arms across her chest. Dennis signalled to her with his head, motioning that some members of their pack were moving into the store. Kelsey smirked. He opened the door for her and when she stepped out, he wrapped his arms around her. They made their way inside the grocery store hand in hand. Kelsey and Dennis kept whispering incoherent words to each other while walking into the store. Their faces were decorated with fake smiles.Dennis's right hand was around Kelsey's shoulder. She gestured to him to come with her to the fruit section and he followed her. Three ladies were standing beside the fruit section. All of them were wolves and Dennis identified them as members of his pack.Dennis gave Kelsey a peck on the left cheek and uttered to the hearing of the ladies. "I'll get the cart. You stay here sweetheart." Kelsey faked a smile
Immediately after Kelsey reached the lecture hall that morning, she spotted Janet and pulled her to a corner. Her hands were slightly trembling and her voice was rippling."I'm restless Janet. I'm so anxious."Janet arched her brow. "What are you talking about Kelsey." She lowered the tone of her voice. "I hope it's not about Cole again."Kelsey replied. "It's not about Cole.""Then what is the matter? Why are you panicking."Kelsey sighed. "Dennis's mother told me she was dropping by the house this afternoon.""Okay. Is that why you are panicking? I thought you guys have already met. Why is she coming over an issue?" Janet asked and held Kelsey's hand. She led her to their favourite row. They sat. Kelsey palmed her forehead and shook her head. "You don't get it, Janet. She said she was coming to talk to me about something really important and I spent the entire night thinking about what it was. She sounded serious when she spoke about it.""And she didn't tell you what you guys were
After the dinner, Kelsey saw Kate and Janet out of the mansion. She returned to the living room and fell on her face on the couch. She was anxiously waiting for Dennis to arrive. There were dozens of thoughts running through her mind. She was nervous, scared and sad. She couldn't tell which of her feelings was outweighing the other at that moment."And why are you lying that way?" came Denni's voice.Kelsey immediately turned around and sat up. "I was waiting for you.""Waiting for me? Is there a problem?""Yes, Dennis. There's a huge problem.""Can I at least freshen up? Or your problem can't wait?""No Dennis. We must talk about this issue now." Kelsey insisted.Dennis took off his necktie and dumped it on the stool. He sat and fixated his gaze on Kelsey. He was rubbing his palms against each other."This better be something good.""Your mom was here." Kelsey began. She heaved a deep sigh and pressed her eyes against each other."And?" Dennis asked."She wants me to plan this year's
Sunday morning, Kelsey had just received a text message from Kate. She will be coming to the mansion with some women. They will be holding a meeting regards the forthcoming ceremony. When Kelsey told Dennis about the women Kate was coming with that morning, he told Alice to drop by and advised Kelsey to invite Janet too. That way, she won't be lost among the older women. Before the women arrived, Janet and Alice had assisted Kelsey in setting up the backyard. A large round table was placed in the backyard under a shade and stools were placed around the table. The table top carried a tray of fresh cookies, wine and glass jugs filled with juice.Kate and the two women who were much older than her arrived at noon. They were led to the backyard by Kelsey. The weather was a bit hot so Kelsey felt the backyard was the ideal venue. After they exchanged peasantries and had a formal introduction, the meeting began proper. The two elderly women Kate came with are Meredith and Zoe. Kelsey was s
Kelsey's smiley face was soon replaced by a blank one immediately after the bombshell dropped."Yes, Kelsey. When is your mating ceremony with Dennis coming up?"It then dawned on Kelsey that she had never thought about her mating ceremony with Dennis. They were yet to be bonded by blood and vow.Kelsey looked up and felt the women's eyes piercing into her soul. They were all wearing expectant faces."It's high time you and Alpha Dennis have your mating ceremony," Janet stressed. The rest agreed with nods."I was thinking about it and I wanted to talk to Dennis a few days ago but he was so occupied with running the pack but I think its time," Kate told them.Kelsey squeezed the paper she was holding and forced a grin."When one discovers his mate, the mating ceremony is held in a week or two." Meredith pointed out."Gilbert and I had ours in a week," Zoe replied. At that moment, Kelsey knew she was in a tight corner. The ground seems to have disappeared under her feet. She was feelin
Kelsey returned to the backyard and met Janet clearing the table. She sighed in relief and joined her to do so."Thank you so much, Janet." Kelsey appreciated her and took the empty tray from her."It's nothing Kelsey. You know you can count on me anytime." Janet replied. She gathered the crumbs and stuffed them in the bin beside the table. The ladies cleared the table and moved to the living room. Kelsey sunk onto the couch and let out a groan of relief.Janet smiled and left for the kitchen. She returned with a bottle of cold water and passed it to Kelsey.Kelsey snatched the bottle away from Kelsey. "Thank you so much, Janet."Janet smiled. "So how are you doing Keley?" Kelsey drank the whole water in the bottle and took off her jacket. She flung it. "I'm doing great Janet but I'm damn tired.""Are you sure?" Janet asked.Kelsey sat up. Why is Janet so concerned about her wellbeing? Did she notice anything odd about her conversation with the women earlier? Could Janet be suspecti
