Chapter fourteen

Sweat trickled from my face, it freely drenched my thin layer of clothes, even flowing all the way to my feet, despite the freezing darkness.

The rogue wolves had still not relented as they bared their fangs towards me with killing intent.

I did not know how long I had been running.

My face down to my body was decorated in mud as I had fallen in different lakes.

Their hot chase increased, closely tailing behind me while I flung my legs carelessly, ignoring the thick bushes that pierced my arms and legs in the process. It was way better than being dead, afterall.

We continued for a few torturous minutes as my strength finally weakened, and my tirelessly working limbs slowed gradually.

My body could not obey the panic in my heart, I was too scared to look back now. The trees ahead of me blurred gradually, till I could only see sheer darkness.

Yet, I forced my limbs to keep going as I could no longer control the tears. I had come too far for me to be caught by them.
