Chapter twenty two

The eyes only speak the truth.

Locky's intense scrutiny did not miss Laura's expectant gaze. He definitely knew her.

Ha! Lyra had better braced herself for her arrival at the palace. Yes.. because she was not leaving here without any answers.

“Why have you come, Laura?”, His lips pursed in a thin line as he waited for her response.

His arms were spread over his legs which were firmly hooked to a small four-legged chair.

Laura's eyes curved at him in a sly manner, before responding, “I believe you already know that, Locky”.

His eyes cast downwards as he smiled faintly.

Laura was, in fact, not surprised that he knew her name. She would have been surprised if he did not know her instead.

Her doubts were dispelled in that moment as she now believed he was truly as good as they said.

“We only see what is shown to us, Laura. We do not read minds”

The slyness gradually dissipated from her eyes as she leaned forward in helpless curiosity.

“What do you mean?”
