Renzo 12. Saoirse 8

Renzo's POV:

Saoirse got out of the car and quickly clasped her mother's hand. Her long red hair blew in the wind, and while her parents talked to me, she stared at me. It took me a few moments to look away from that mesmerizing hair, which seemed to glow under the strong sun's rays. But when I did, my mouth almost dropped open when I saw her big, gorgeous eyes. They were framed by perfectly arched eyebrows and long, thick lashes. And their color! I had never seen eyes like that before—one was emerald green, and the other was half brown and half green. I knew I had read about that eye condition, but seeing it in person was something else.

My mom, Luna Helen, gently touched my shoulder.

"Why don't you go and show Saoirse around, honey, while your dad and I show Healer Colin and Healer Aela their new home and the hospital?"

I nodded and stretched out my hand to the little girl. Her porcelain white skin was slightly pink from the sun. She took my hand with her delicate one and smiled at me. My heart skipped a beat, and I smiled back.

"I'm Renzo. Would you like to see the lake and the school, Saoirse?"

She nodded happily and walked ahead of me toward the buildings. Mom told us to be back in an hour for lunch.

The hour flew by too quickly. People kept staring at her, mostly because of her hair. It had all the shades of red that you see in a live flame.

"Do you like the Pack, Saoirse?" I asked. She looked at me with uncertainty but answered cheerfully, "It's beautiful. The forest surrounding it is huge, and the lake is amazing. I want to swim in it one day. Did you know I can swim? I learned back at home when..."

She trailed off, looking nostalgic as she talked about her previous home.

"Is it okay to miss home and your friends? You will make more here. You can count me as your friend from now on," I said, and she beamed. "But promise me you'll never go to the lake or the forest on your own, not even when you get your wolf."

My father had very tight security around the Pack's perimeter, but rogues sometimes ventured too close for our liking. "Come on, they must be waiting for us to eat."

Saoirse's POV:

Renzo is so nice to me, and he says he is my friend. I was sad about leaving my best friend, Deirdre, back home. But during this short time, he has managed to lift my spirits, and I know I will love it here. He has this mega-watt smile that fills me with reassurance. His eyes are light brown with green and blue speckles. He is a lot taller than me, and his black hair looks unruly in a cute way.

The dining room of the mansion is huge and elegant. We washed our hands, and when we entered the room, everyone was already sitting down.

There was Beta Max and his mate, Lottie. Their son, Shane, was next to them. I know their names because Beta Max proudly talked about Shane to my parents on our way from the airport.

Alpha Lorenzo was at the head of the table. He was huge and had the same olive skin as Renzo. Seated to his left was Luna Helen. She looked refined and pretty, with her brown hair styled in an elegant updo. Her warm blue eyes lit up when she saw us. Renzo sat to his father's right, and I went and sat next to my mother. Luna Helen spoke then.

"You're just in time, my dears. I hope you like it here, Saoirse. Soon you'll make lots of friends. This is Shane, the son of our Beta couple, and soon-to-be Beta himself when Renzo becomes Alpha."

Shane looked at me and blushed at the introduction.

"Nice to meet you, Saoirse."

"Nice to meet you, Shane."

I turned to look at Renzo, but he didn’t seem happy. He was probably just hungry. The helpers started bustling about, serving us food while the adults talked with my parents. My dad answered all the questions while Mom was quiet around people. Dad would get jealous whenever Mom talked to other men, no matter who they were. She is petite and very pretty, with dark red hair and green eyes. My dad is blond, and somehow, my red hair became a mix of both. He promised her he would be different here; he was the one who applied for the transfer. He was madly jealous of one of the doctors in our Pack. My mom can’t help being so pretty that men stare and want to talk to her. When I’m older, I don’t want a jealous and possessive boyfriend. Nope.
