“What does the letter say? Eleanor asked, sitting beside Layla on her bed.

“Here, read it yourself.” She sighed, handing her the letter and sprawling herself on the bed. When she had asked Alaric to find out what Zayne was doing, she never expected that.

“Oh. Oh.” Eleanor muttered as she read the content. “This is bad.”

“I really hope Alaric is exaggerating, but we know he isn’t. Zayne is worse than I thought. Far worse. I didn’t know leaving him would make him turn out this way.” Layla whispered, squeezing her eyes shut as her brain replayed the last time he said her name. “I expected him to be mad and a bit worried about me since I was supposedly with the enemies, but I had underestimated the degree.”

“It’s quite understandable, though. If I was kidnapped by the parliamentarians, Pyro would burn the world while trying to rescue me. The protector bond is quite strong. Especially when they have met.” Eleanor said, folding the letter and setting it on the side table.
