ROSEANNE
“Roseanne, Grandpa will match you with an Alpha, and you two will be married in two weeks.”
The words hit me like a punch to the chest. I had just stepped into Grandpa's office after four months in a coma. Instead of the warm greeting I had expected, I received this announcement.
I stood frozen in front of his desk, my heart pounding. “Grandpa, what do you mean? You must have said something wrong, right?”
“Grandpa, you couldn’t possibly do something like that to me. I know that you love me very much, so something like this can’t happen.” My eyes trembled with worry, and as much as I could, I refused to believe him.
But his face showed no signs of guilt. Andreas Moonveil, the most powerful man in the country and my grandfather, just stared at me coldly, without hesitation or regret.
“There’s no mistake here, Roseanne. I’ve picked the perfect man for you,” he said with authority, leaving no room for argument.
“Grandpa!” I finally raised my voice, trying to get his attention. “If this is a joke, then it really isn’t funny. Stop it now, or I’ll get mad.”
He didn't answer, didn't even look at me at all. The pile of papers on his desk was more interesting than the look of disappointment clearly visible on my face.
Instead, his hand pointed to the brown folder on the table. “Open it, Anne,” he said shortly.
With trembling hands, I took the folder. It contained a biodata sheet. There was no photo, just a series of information that made me feel like I was reading a catalog of goods, not a person's data.
How can I recognize the man without a photo in the data?
“Damian Fenrison?” I mumbled, trying to dig into my memory. The name sounded familiar, but his face remained vague in my mind.
“He’s the owner of the Aeternum Group,” Grandpa said, his voice calm but full of authority. “You may find the name familiar. But since you just woke up from a coma, you should still read up on him.”
I stared at him in disbelief. “Grandpa, you’re kidding, right?! Damian Fenrison? Aeternum Group? Hasn’t his company always been your’ main rival? That man has been trying to bring you down for years! But why did you decide to match me with him now? Isn’t that crazy?!”
“You don’t need to understand,” he said coldly. “I have decided, and you just need to carry it out.”
A wave of emotions hit me — disappointment, anger, and sadness all mixed together. It had only been a week since I woke up from my coma, and today, I came to Grandpa's room with a big smile because I missed him so much. But that smile has now disappeared because Grandpa has changed like this for some reason.
I thought Grandpa would be happy when he saw me awake, maybe I would also get the warm hug I had longed for. However, reality hit me mercilessly.
“Grandpa, you never let any Alpha approach me all this time. You always guard me, limiting my interactions with any Alpha. I thought you did that because you wanted me to find my own mate someday, but arranged marriage? Grandpa, this is so unreasonable!”
“I don’t want to marry that man. I refuse to be matched with Damian Fenrison,” my voice trembled as I spoke, tears beginning to well up in my eyes.
This time, Grandpa lifted his face and looked at me sharply. “You can’t refuse, Roseanne,” he said, his voice getting louder. “This isn’t a request, it’s an order.”
“But why me?!” I clenched my fists, gritting my teeth to hold back the tears starting to force their way out. “You can’t control my life like this, Grandpa! I will decide for myself who I will marry, and Damian is not the man I want!”
His sharp eyes stared at me without a trace of pity. “Who says I can’t? I raised you for dozens of years, Roseanne. After your parents died, I was the one who took care of you, protected you, and gave you a life of luxury. I loved you more than my other children or grandchildren. Now, it’s time for you to repay me.”
I laughed bitterly, and tears finally fell without me being able to stop them. I was already speechless after hearing all of Grandpa's words. "So that's your reason, Grandpa? I thought you really loved me. It turns out this was all just my illusion."
Where is Grandpa Andreas, who loved me so much and was always warm to me? Why has that man now changed into someone different and unrecognizable?
“You’ve always been nice to me so that you can sell me when I grow up? This is all about reciprocation, huh? Can this marriage bring you great benefits, Grandpa, that you will sell me to Damian?”
Him’s expression remained unchanged, cold as ice. “It’s good that you understand without me explaining further.”
I stood stiffly, my body shaking with anger and disappointment suffocating my chest. I really didn't know who this man in front of me was, he was really very different from the person I met before I fell into a coma.
I crumple the paper in my hand to vent all my emotions at the moment, tears still falling down my cheeks without me being able to stop them. It feels so suffocating to be in this room, the same room, but it feels different, not like a few months ago.
“Roseanne,” Grandpa’s voice broke the silence. "Don’t get too emotional. Damian is the perfect match for you. I agreed to this marriage for your own good. You will thank me one day.”
I laughed bitterly, I couldn't listen anymore. Grandpa's words felt like a knife stabbing my heart again and again. Without another word, I turned and left the room, leaving Grandpa with a pile of papers that were more important to him than my feelings.
I wiped the tears from my cheeks as I walked away. Every step felt heavy, not only because of the order I had just received but also because of the feeling of betrayal by the one person I thought was on my side unconditionally.
At a time when I should be celebrating my second life, I have to face the fact that my life is not mine.
“Miss Anne, are you okay?” It was the voice of Kiren — my personal Beta guard, who sounded worried when he saw my condition after coming out of Grandpa’s room.
I ignored him, leaning against the wall and taking a deep breath. I tried to calm myself down to think of another way out of this problem.
'If I can't break this arranged marriage through Grandpa, then I have to talk to Damian directly to resolve everything.'
I looked at Kiren seriously. “Kiren, I want to meet Damian. Please investigate some things about him and arrange a plan so I can meet him.”
DAMIAN“Alpha Damian, we have successfully located Tion.”The puff of smoke that had just been exhaled floated and mixed with the air, left a sharp aroma in the room. After hearing that name, the nicotine that I had been sipping on no longer felt delicious. The cigarette butt was still unfinished, but I immediately crushed it in the ashtray. A tiny spark slowly disappeared at the tip, in contrast to the anger inside me that was burning even more.I leaned back in my chair, my gaze fixed on Blair coldly. My fingers tapped the arm of the chair in a steady rhythm, resembling the sound of a tense ticking clock. “Blair, have you forgotten what I ordered?” I asked in a low tone.Blair bowed his head deeply. “I’m sorry, Alpha Damian, I should have brought Tion to you immediately. But a bit of a problem happened, so I could only give a report.”I snorted, getting annoyed. “What big problem is blocking you from bringing the traitor to me?”“I got information that Tion is currently in the South
ROSEANNEThe afternoon wind blew through the broken window at the end of the warehouse, bringing with it swirling dust before landing back on the long-untouched floor. I stood in the middle of the dim room, arms folded across my chest, my eyes staring at the figure tied up in the corner of the room— Tion. His mouth was gagged with a cloth, but his sharp gaze still tried to fight back even though his body was limp.Kiren and Raven stood not far from me, watching with a vigilant attitude. After getting some important information, I immediately ordered Kiren to catch a man who betrayed Damian, only after that did I contact Damian.I know this is an exaggeration, but meeting a man like Damian Fenrison certainly requires extra steps because I'm sure he wouldn't want to meet me if I didn't have something important that is directly related to him. I don't know him well, but the stories I've heard are enough to give me an idea.An Alpha is ruthless, ambitious, and notoriously cares about no o
ROSEANNENight had fallen when I returned to the Moonveil mansion. The place that was supposed to be called home instead felt like hell to me. Tonight was the first night I appeared among my family after my long coma, and I knew they were not expecting me.I entered the dining room with slow steps. The long table was filled with familiar faces, but none looked friendly. Aunt Eleanor, sat on the right side with her husband, Uncle Walter. At the end of the table was my cousin, Lavinia, who was busy with her cell phone but still gave me a disdainful look every now and then.Grandpa Andreas still has two other sons, but tonight, I heard they cannot join us for dinner because they have business abroad.“Oh, look, who’s finally risen from the brink of death,” Aunt Eleanor quipped in a high-pitched voice, a sarcastic smile spreading across her face.I held my breath, trying to ignore her and sat in the chair usually reserved for me. But it seemed they didn't want to let me rest for a moment.
ROSEANNEThe next day, I had to attend a werewolf gathering at Grandpa Andreas’ command. Usually, an Omega like me wouldn’t need to come since most attendees were Alphas. I had only attended once, years ago. I immediately received too much-unwanted attention from other Alphas, so Grandpa never brought me along again. But he ordered me to come today, and I had a bad feeling about it for some reason. That night, a knee-length black dress wrapped my body beautifully, my hair was styled elegantly, and my light makeup made me look stunning yet still appropriately modest. Even though I felt incredibly uncomfortable, I had to uphold the image of the Moonveil family. As I stepped into the grand hall, my eyes searched for Grandpa, but instead, I found countless Alpha gazes fixated on me. The sweet scent of my pheromones must have filled the room, instantly drawing attention.‘Damn it, Grandpa should’ve come with me instead of sending me alone. Now I must deal with all these lecherous Alphas st
ROSEANNEI pulled Damian out of the hall, searching for a quiet place to talk privately. I needed to set things straight and make him understand that I absolutely did not agree with our marriage. He couldn't just claim me in front of everyone like that.We stopped at the eastern side of the hall, which, fortunately, was empty. This gave me the freedom to say whatever I wanted.I turned around and glared at Damian with fury. "Damian, you can't just randomly talk about marriage in front of everyone when I haven’t even agreed to this arranged marriage!"I felt like I was about to explode at any moment. This man was driving me insane with anger. "And you can’t just say that I belong to you in front of all those people! Do you think you can claim me like an object?!"Damian didn’t answer immediately, but I could feel his sharp gaze on me. It was as if I wasn’t the only one angry here—he was, too. Yet I hated how calm he looked as if everything that had just happened was nothing more than a
ROSEANNE After finishing the scenting, Damian pulled his face away from my neck. However, he still didn’t release his embrace around my waist. For a few seconds, I remained silent, trying to process everything that had just happened.‘This is strange. Why is my body reacting like this?’ I murmured in my heart. My body felt different after Damian’s scenting. I could feel every inch of me wrapped in his scent, which now clung to me more intensely. I never expected that our scents would blend so well together. The scenting also made me more sensitive to Damian’s presence.I brushed my fingers over my neck, trying to erase the lingering warmth left by his bite. When I turned to look at him, Damian’s expression remained calm as before, as if what had just happened wasn’t a big deal to him.But for me, it was a considerable loss.“Why did you do this?” My voice trembled, a mix of anger and panic. “You can’t just scent me, Damian! I didn’t even permit you!”Damian finally let go of my waist
DAMIANI stood tall on the right side of the main hall, observing my surroundings with a neutral expression. Alphas from various territories had gathered here tonight. Some were friendly, while others looked at me with expressions that were difficult to decipher—whether it was admiration, envy, or veiled hostility. As the Alpha of Fenrison, I was used to being the center of attention. However, tonight felt different. Their gazes weren’t solely on me but also on the figure of Roseanne standing by my side. Her hand was still wrapped around my arm, the once-awkward grip now feeling more natural, even though I knew she did it out of obligation—because of the orders and threats I had given her. I could sense Roseanne’s body was slightly tense, but she tried her best to maintain a calm expression.Stubborn Omega.“Stop gripping my arm so tensely, Roseanne,” I reminded her.Roseanne immediately looked up, her sharp gaze directed at me. “Then what should I do? Hug you affectionately and act a
ROSEANNE“So, you’ve decided to accept this arranged marriage, Anne?” Grandpa Andreas finally looked at me for the first time in the ten minutes since I entered his room.“Yes, because you didn’t give me a choice to refuse, did you?” I asked sarcastically, clearly displeased.Grandpa Andreas nodded slightly. “You’re right. This arrangement was never meant to be rejected, so you never had that option.”When I returned from the gathering, I went straight to Grandpa Andreas’s room to confront him. Of course, I first expressed my anger over how he had tricked me into attending and becoming Damian’s partner tonight. But Grandpa Andreas refused to talk to me. He ignored me completely. So, in the end, I told him I had agreed to the marriage to get his attention.Because, as he had said, I honestly had no other choice.“You met Damian at the event, didn’t you?” Grandpa Andreas stood from his desk and walked toward the sofa across from me, taking a seat. We were finally having a real conversat
ROSEANNE“Roseanne, I’m not angry if you want to find out about my former Luna. I think it’s only natural that you’d want to know who Lyra really was. But I also wouldn’t mind if you just asked me directly instead of looking into it in secret. Wouldn’t it be better if you heard it straight from me?”I was surprised by how calmly Damian responded to this. I had assumed the worst, thinking he might get angry if I tried to dig into Lyra’s past. Not everyone likes having their past unearthed—especially since I clearly remembered how sensitive Damian used to be whenever Lyra’s name came up in our arguments before our relationship got this close. But he seemed completely at ease now, and I didn’t see a trace of anger in his expression.Realizing that the atmosphere was much better than I had anticipated, I stepped closer and chose to sit beside him. “Would you really tell me everything if I asked?” I asked Damian. It didn’t take him long to nod. “Of course. I don’t think there’s anything ab
ROSEANNEI let Damian take me away from the underground cell because I had no other excuse if he kept asking about my reason for coming here. I knew I wouldn’t be able to lie to him anymore, and at the same time, I wasn’t ready to tell Damian the truth yet.I glanced at Damian’s arm around my shoulders. Even as we left the underground, he said nothing to Blair. I could see the worried expression on Blair’s face—I should talk to Damian to make sure he doesn’t get angry at Blair for letting me in alone.Damian shouldn't be mad at the wrong person because this was my own decision. If anyone deserved his anger, it was me."Luna Roseanne, I’m still here. If you’re certain that Lyra is truly your twin sister and you need more information about your past together, I can give it to you. But in exchange, you have to get me out of this prison. I suggest you decide quickly because Alpha Damian might kill me by tomorrow."Those were the last words Tion whispered to me before Damian arrived earlie
DAMIANMy men have yet to find the person responsible for Sam’s murder. As soon as his death was confirmed, I immediately met with Tobias and Kiren to discuss the matter. At the same time, several other parties began searching for traces of the person who was most likely responsible for Sam Moonveil’s death.Roseanne insisted that the man could not have taken his own life, and I believed that Sam Moonveil was not the type to kill himself. He had too many grudges, and there was no way he would give up so easily without settling them first.I had already ordered my men to conduct a thorough investigation—reviewing every CCTV recording in Fenrison’s residence, tracking any possible evidence left in the underground chamber, and identifying anyone who had visited the place recently.Tobias had checked everything, but no leads had surfaced. There was always the possibility that Sam Moonveil had indeed committed suicide, but I wasn’t ready to accept that yet. I would keep searching until I h
ROSEANNEI stared at Tion without blinking. His words still lingered in the air, refusing to be processed in my mind. I received three pieces of information at once in everything he said—each incredibly difficult to believe.Tion claimed that Lyra was my twin sister, that she had been at the scene of the incident and suffered the same accident as I did, and most importantly, that Lyra had died because she saved me.Does any of this make sense?I didn't even know Lyra, so how could this man claim we were twins? I couldn't just accept this nonsense so easily."Your joke isn't funny at all, Tion," my voice was barely audible.Tion sighed, and I could see the sadness and frustration on his face. "Lyra really was your twin sister, Luna Roseanne."He repeated it, truly trying to convince me—or perhaps brainwash me.But my heart was pounding so hard that I could hear its beats in my ears. My mind went blank, and my chest felt unbearably tight as if I had been struck by something massive. It
ROSEANNE"You really know me?" I stared at Tion, torn between belief and doubt.A part of me still questioned what he said, but on the other hand, he looked so convincing—I couldn’t detect even the slightest hesitation in his words. The hatred in Tion’s gaze felt undeniably real. He wouldn’t be this serious if he were only trying to intimidate me. That’s why I had to find out and ask him directly."I know you very well, Luna Roseanne," Tion spoke again. "Even more than you can imagine.""Don’t be ridiculous, Tion. I always know the people around me, so there’s no way you claim to know me when I have no idea who you are. I don’t think we’ve ever met."Tion let out a low chuckle, but to my ears, it sounded eerie. "We don’t need to know each other to be aware of one another, Luna.""Then tell me, how do you know me? And why do you keep staring at me so sharply, filled with hatred? What problem do you have with me that makes you despise me this much?" Without wasting time, I fired my ques
ROSEANNEThis wasn’t the right time to be curious about anything else, let alone dig deeper into who Lyra was.And yet, I couldn't ignore the pounding of my heart or the strange feeling that consumed me as I read through those files. It was as if there was an inexplicable connection between me and the woman from Damian’s past. Not to mention the fact that earlier, the man named Tion had stared at me so intensely, as if he harboured a deep grudge against me—even though I had no recollection of ever knowing him.Didn’t all of this seem incredibly strange?I couldn’t just brush it off."I have to talk to Tion," I finally decided. It was the only way to get answers to my questions.I didn’t expect Tion to know anything about my accident. Still, perhaps he had other information—something about Lyra or why we looked so similar as children.Clutching Lyra’s file tightly in my hand, I carried it with me as I left my room and headed toward the underground dungeon, the same place I had left not
ROSEANNEAfter escorting me to my room, Damian left to hold a meeting with Tobias and Kiren to discuss Sam's death. I was still shaken by the incident, feeling weak and unsure of what to do.Right now, only one name kept surfacing in my mind—someone who was most likely behind Uncle Sam’s death.I grabbed my phone and dialled Grandpa Andreas’s number as quickly as possible. My last conversation with him still lingered in my memory, and I remembered that Grandpa Andreas had indeed planned to kill Uncle Sam and take him to Moonveil. Was this his way of warning me for not letting him take Uncle Sam away?I let out a heavy sigh. The moment the call was answered, I attacked him with a single question. “Why did you kill Uncle Sam?”Grandpa Andreas didn’t respond immediately. There was a brief silence before he asked, “Sam is dead?”Good acting. I scoffed internally.“Don’t pretend, Grandpa. I know this was your doing,” I accused without hesitation. “You were the only one who wanted Uncle Sam
ROSEANNE"That’s impossible," I muttered in disbelief at the news Tobias had just delivered. "You're joking, right?"My heart pounded violently, and a wave of nausea hit me upon hearing those words. My mind felt blank, unable to process anything. I was too shocked, too speechless even to know how to react.I felt Damian’s hand envelop mine, his warm fingers slipping between my own in an attempt to calm me. "Explain clearly what happened, Tobias," Damian said, his voice steadier than I had expected. But I knew he was just as surprised as I was. He was simply keeping his composure because I already looked panicked. He had to stay sane—for me and to ensure everything remained under control.Tobias exhaled heavily. "Blair brought food for Sam this morning. But when he arrived at the basement, Sam was already unconscious and was later pronounced dead. Blair himself checked his condition and confirmed that Sam had stopped breathing."Without realizing it, I held my breath. Losing my only ke
DAMIANEven though I already have a good relationship with Roseanne, I still can't read her mind. She keeps so many secrets and doesn’t share them with me, even though I want to help.I don’t like seeing Roseanne lost in thought without realizing it—I’ve caught her doing that multiple times. Whenever I ask, she always says she’s fine. And today, she’s doing it again.I had just returned to my room when I found Roseanne sitting on the large sofa, staring out the window in deep thought. She didn’t even notice my presence, too absorbed in whatever was running through her mind.I decided to approach her. Kiren had told me that Roseanne went to the Moonveil house today. I was certain her silence now was related to whatever happened there. Her body flinched slightly when I wrapped my arms around her from behind, encircling her waist while resting my chin on her shoulder."Hey, have you eaten?" I asked softly.Roseanne immediately relaxed upon realizing it was me holding her. Instead of pull
