Chapter 82

Unknown POV

My plan was to mess up with her head until she couldn't tell the difference between reality and dreams any more. That would get rid of her and maybe give me something in return, I don’t know, but something useful.

So I watched as my daughter chanted spells , her fingers moving through the air as if they were guided by some unseen god. It was mesmerizing, so much effort and focus being put into this spell. My daughter’s hair was loose today, long and dark and falling over her shoulders in a thick curtain.  

When she moved closer to me, I could see how tired she looked. Her face had become pale, almost gaunt. Her eyelids drooped and there were dark circles under them, and that’s when it struck me that maybe this wasn’t a good thing but we had too many unseen enemies and it just made sense to keep her strong, to make her protect herself
