Chapter Five

ANA

I couldn't help but perceive the sweet aroma that filled my nose, am I in heaven already? Have the angels prepared a feast for me? 

I slowly opened my eyes and found myself on a comfortable couch with stitches on my leg and arm. Where am I? How did I get here, and where is this lovely aroma coming from? I kept wondering and asking myself

My weak eyes scanned the room while I walked and tried to regain my strength. The room was painted all white, and the walls were decorated with a few beautiful paintings. 

I tried to remember what happened, I recall I was running away from the truck driver and got hit. Oh no! Did he kidnap me and brought me to his house?

But if he was holding me captive, I would be tied up to a chair or locked in a room. Why did he bring me here then? I tried to trace the aroma and sneaked to check what was happening.

Then I saw the most handsome face ever, he was tall, chocolate in completion with neatly shaved beards and brown eyes. We stared at each other for some seconds, then I screamed and started running towards the door. 

Of course, I was too weak to run and my voice wasn't even loud enough, he was able to catch me in time and held my mouth to stop me from screaming, we stayed like that for some time and he waited for me to calm down before letting me go.

"Please calm down, I won't hurt you I promise," he said calmly. 

He slowly turned to me and asked me to go sit on the couch that I needed to eat and take medication, and he would explain when I was done eating.

I guess the truck driver didn't bring me here after all because this handsome-looking man right here didn't look like a truck driver, or he could be friends with the truck driver.

I kept having different thoughts in my head when I saw a nice plate of rice with chicken and veggies placed in front of me. I haven't eaten for days and the food looked tempting I could eat two portions in seconds. 

"You know the food won't get to your mouth if you keep staring at it, please eat so it doesn't get cold, let me go get you water," he said

I was so hungry I started rushing the food like it was my last meal. Oh the food tasted so good, how can a man be handsome and a good cook at the same time?

"My name is Kael, what's your name?" He asked

"Ana" I replied while trying to drink water from the cup

"I'm sorry I hit you, I wasn't focused on the road and I was in a rush to go home, I had to bring you here immediately so you can get proper treatment, where are you from and why were you running?"

I didn't know where to start from, I started stuttering.

"It's okay, you can stay here till you recover, you will be safe here, just try not to go out. Now you would have to take your medication"

He sorted the medications out and handed them over to me to swallow, I took them immediately and stared at the floor while he kept staring at me. I started feeling nauseous so I had to lay on the couch and sleep.

While I stretched my body on the couch, my mouth opened widely letting out a big yawn. I slowly opened my eyes to see Kael calmly staring at me with a smile.

He had the most beautiful eyes, and I think I could stare at them all day. I had so many questions to ask him but I think they can wait, I felt safe with him and I don't think I want to leave here so soon. 

"I will be leaving soon, and will be back by tomorrow" Kael said

"You don't live here? Where are you going to? " I asked with sadness written all over my face. I didnt want him to go, I don't want to be here all by myself. 

"I have something very important I need to attend to, I'll be back first thing in the morning I promise"

He looked at me and carefully held my hand while assuring me he would be back early in morning tomorrow. I nodded my head with a weak smile and sat down properly on the chair while trying to sip the remaining water from the cup.

"Do you have a phone?" He asked

"No I don't"

"I guess I'll have to get you one on my way back tomorrow"

I don't have a phone, I've never owned one. The last phone I used was my dad's and it got stolen before he died. I haven't been able to afford a phone and I tried to prioritise by getting what I and my sister would eat to survive first.

I was so happy I couldn't wait to see my first phone, I smiled while I thought about it in my head.

"I hope I'm the reason you have those lovely smiles on your face. Before I live, I would like to ask you not to leave the house while I'm gone. I'll be leaving now" Kael said

He went out and asked me to close the door from the inside and drove off. While he was gone, I went to the kitchen to get some more food because I was still hungry and the food tasted really good.

I finished and went to check the rooms, there were two bedrooms with pictures of Kael and someone else which I assumed was his late friend Reggie. 

He had pictures of himself with a wolf beside him on one frame and his friend had a picture of him with a different wolf on another frame.

They seemed to be fond of wolves and I guess that's cool, though they're dangerous but I've always wanted to have a pet wolf.

While I was getting myself acquainted with the house, I heard a car sound coming from outside. Maybe Kael changed his mind and wanted to stay back.

When I went to check through the window, it wasn't Kael’s car and then I saw a really tall, dark and mean looking guy shutting the car door and I ran to hide.
