Chapter Eight

RONAN

"You may leave now Kael, I want to have a word with your uncle," I said looking at Kael

"How lovely for you to grace us with your presence Cyrus, it's been ages and you didn't inform me you were coming. Besides how did you know Kael has been away, we haven't spoken in months. You have been busy with the spirits in your lonely forest. Why are you here?" I asked, looking straight at my brother who stared at me with displeasure.

"So you are worried about why I'm here? And not your son who ran away for months because someone died?"

"Reggie wasn't just anybody, he was Kael’s best friend" I replied immediately.

"You know, if I was the Alpha, I wouldn't let such happen. You are too soft on the boy and I doubt he can run the pack. He needs guidance and discipline not cuddling and excuses" Cyrus said in distain.

"I won't let you talk about Kael in such manner, he is capable of running the pack, he is just berieved and that's all"

Cyrus has always wanted to be alpha, but then he got his gift from the spirits. At first it was like a sign from the spirits that he was the rightful heir, but then, he started becoming aggressive each time he uses his power to communicate with the spirits.

He even killed his mate while making love to her, since then he ran to live in the forest where he would be in contact with nobody. He had a son with his mate and he had tried his best to reconnect but the poor boy hasn't forgiven him for what he did to his mother.

Cyrus has been bitter since the incident and was feared by everyone. He most times went with the warriors for battles, he'd always want to conquer every pack that dared to challenge us. He never believed in losing battles.

"You can't keep letting him become soft, don't forget we're the most dangerous pack and we can't have a weak alpha. If other packs notice our alpha is a weakling, they would destroy us" Cyrus said with his eyes looking like they were going to eat me up.

"By the way, there is something off about that boy. I sensed something different while he was here. Keep an eye on him"

If something was off, trust my brother to detect it immediately. He had strong senses just like our father, he could sense a different blood from miles away.

Since he said something was off about Kael, I believed him and I was going to get to the bottom of it, alot of packs envied us and they would go to any length to destroy us even through Kael. Someone might have used his vulnerable state to get to him without him noticing.

Kael can be soft atimes, especially when it comes to the people he loves, he can do anything.

"Talking about packs that we've conquered, you know there is still one more pack we are yet to defeat and take control of. The whitewounds, I haven't said anything about it yet because you are meant to lead that battle yourself and also fight their alpha yourself" Cyrus said looking at me with great expectations.

"You are right Cyrus, I still can't believe Akira is the leader of the whitewounds".

"She was a great warrior while you guys were dating, so it's not surprising that she could lead a great pack. They are as dangerous as the blackeyed pack if you ask me. I heard they have won most of their battles and majority of their warriors are women"

"Yes, women who were labelled cursed or were banished from a pack just like Akira, I thought she wasn't going to survive. I thought she would be lost in the forest and die. She might still be alive and healthy but there is one thing I'm certain of, the baby she was carrying in her womb would not survive the spirit forest for a day so I'm certain she lost the baby" I said looking at Cyrus with confidence.

"You need to put an end to this battle soon Ronan, don't let Kael inherit this fight when you're gone. Send a word to Akira and schedule a date for a duel at the nearest opportunity" Cyrus replied immediately while hitting his index finger on the table.

"I need to leave now, you have to take care of Akira before it's too late, do not underestimate her, women like her don't have love or compassion in them anymore, I would have taken care of this but it is your fight not mine. Also, Kael needs to be checked too, there's a lot he is hiding and remind him nothing passes me without being noticed." Cyrus said and left my office while supporting his weight with his fancy stick.

Cyrus was right, I needed to face Akira and end this. While she was still a blackeyed wolf, we were intimate and she became pregnant. I knew I wasn't going to marry her. I couldn't stand having a child with a woman I didn't want to marry, she was a warrior and was always going for battles for the pack. I can't have my mate fighting on the front lines every time war was declared.

So I denied the pregnancy and when my dad heard about it, he banished Akira for lying against the Alpha's son. I haven't heard anything from her since she was banished.

My family doesn't know the child Akira was pregnant with was mine, I lied to everyone. I didn't love her and I had to lie to protect my heart, now she is the Alpha of the Whitewounds.

I have a feeling she is plotting something against my pack, of course, she would, after what I did to her. She would want to hurt me and make me face a hundredfold of what she went through when she was banished.

But I won't let that happen, she is just a woman, my father always said women were weak no matter what path they chose in life, they will always be vulnerable. I need to challenge Akira in a battle and get this over and done with.
