Chapter 1
**Glimpse of the past**
A young woman sprints through the dense dark forest, trying to get away from her abductors. Thorns and fallen branches tear at her pale flesh, and sharp stones gnaw at her bare feet, but she runs. Her royal robe gets caught in a protruding branch, and she falls. The sounds of her abductors draw closer, and she realizes it's only a matter of time before they find her.
She looks down tearfully at the new born who sleeps peacefully in her arms, oblivious to the events happening around him.
She is Luna Athena, Luna of Crescent moon pack, and the sleeping child in her arms is the outcome of an act of love between her and her human mate.
She knows that her child is in danger, as children birthed from Humans and animals are considered a taboo in werewolf custom. Her clenches painfully as she realizes what she must do to save her baby. She couldn't bear to see her innocent baby murdered, the way her mate was.
Placing her child under a large Oak tree, she wraps the fur blanket tightly around him as she prays to the moon goddess to protect him. She tearfully looks at her child one last time, before she turns on her heels and continues to run. It's not long before a huge force hits her small frame, sending her flying to the wet forest ground. She twists her arm in the process.
“You don't have anywhere to run to now, Luna” A masculine voice says, voice laced with mischief.Eyes glistening from unshed tears and anger, she turns to face her abductor.“No matter what you do, you will not be able to find my child.” She said confidently.
He laughs maniacally, his voice sending an echo round the forest.
“It doesn't matter if he is found or not. Don't you see? You have only made it easier for me by leaving him in the forest to die by vultures and other wild animals, as he should.” He said.
Pure rage wells up in her chest and she screams, channeling her powers to her voice. But she barely makes an impact, as she is very weak due to childbirth. She falls to her knees and sob uncontrollably.
“Nothing would happen to him…. nothing” she says between sobs.
“Oh Athena, you should have accepted my proposal in the first place. I would we'd you and take good care of you. Then none of this would've happened. But what did you do? you decide to go after a mere human.” He says, his voice laced with so much hatred.
“And then you decided to kill him?” Athena says, heart clenching in sorrow.
“He never would've survived being an Alpha anyway. Humans are weak, pathetic beings. They do not deserve to be with wolves. I only did him a favor.” He said, grinning mischievously. Athena's heart breaks all over again from agony.
“You're vile” Athena teethed. If looks could kill, he would be 50 feet under the ground already.
Her abductor laughs again.
“Too bad, your glare does not hold any meaning now, you're weak from childbirth.” He mocks.
“But we can forget any of this ever happened. You can come back with me to the palace. We can get married, and I become the Alpha of Crescent moon. Humans will continue to remain a thing of the past.”
Even in her state of vulnerability, Athena tries to let out a loud chuckle, angering him further.
“I would rather die a thousand deaths than spend even a fraction of a lifetime with you. And I can never let a monster such as you rule as Alpha over Crescent moon” She said, making sure to lace every word with unfiltered hatred.
“Have it your way, Luna” he says, sending her flying again. She hits a large tree trunk and tumbles down, and breaking her spine. She cries out in pain.
“And do not worry. I'll make sure your little boy in the palace grows up believing you chose to run away with a human rather than stay back for him” He says, mischief coating his face.
Athena's eyes welled up upon hearing this.
“My son is brave. I've trained him to be strong and independent. He will rule the Crescent moon pack as a strong Alpha, and he will survive without me” Athena says.
“But you won't be there to see your little one grow miserable for the rest of his life.” He says and moves forward, plunging a knife directly into Athena's chest. Athena gasps as blood pours out of her mouth and chest from the knife wound “Be rest assured your little boy will remain unhappy, and will die a lonely death. As for humans, they will remain what they've always been, weak, pathetic and useless.” He proclaims.
Tears fall from her eyes and she slowly dies. “That's where you're wrong.” Athena says and her eyes glow an icy blue shade, taking him by surprise “I, Luna Athena, Luna Queen of Crescent moon, make this prophecy. The Crescent moon will be ruled again by the bond of a human and a wolf. And humans and wolves will live in harmony side by side….” She stares directly into the eyes of her abductor “....and you will die by the hand of those you call weak and pathetic. You will die by the hands of a human.” And she gives up the ghost.
**The present**Astrid's POVSunlight creeps in through the window in the dining hall, shining on my face, along with the other slaves on my line, facing the window.“Today, as you know, is a very important day to us…”Madame Celine, our head slave, addressed us as she always does every morning, standing on the slightly higher ground at the center of the hall. She stood stiffly, accessing each and every one of our faces as she spoke.“....and misconducts of any kind will not be tolerated.”Not like misconduct has ever been tolerated in the pack house, but today, like she said, is indeed different. Because today was the full moon ceremony. It was a ceremony the werewolves have celebrated for as long as I knew. Where a werewolf, who has passed the normal mating age of 18 years, has a chance to meet their mate. Not like they can't find their mates on any other regular day, but the chances are way higher on the full moon night. I could never understand why they addressed one another as m
Atlas's POVI stood facing the window of my chamber. I watched as the sun slowly set, casting a warm, orange over the land. Against my will, flashes of that night crept into my mind, making my fists clench in anger. The night I saw the limb, lifeless body of my mother, covered in dirt and her own blood. It's been twenty years now but the memory is still imprinted and the back of my head, like it happened just yesterday. I was still a little boy then but I still remember the pain that enveloped my heart as I saw her lifeless body, and the rage that welled up slowly when I was told that humans killed her. Humans…those vile pathetic things, they'll remain pathetic and weak with no use whatsoever, till the last of their blood line.I heard my chamber door open and someone come in. I already knew who it was, thanks to my wolf senses.“My Lord.”“Kyle. I want you to make the arrangements. I will attend the mating ceremony tonight.” I said. “Yes, Alpha.” He said.“After all these years..may
**Atlas**I watched from my seat as men and women swayed and danced to the music. I didn't miss the way young females glided past me, sending seductive glances and putting their womanly parts on full display. On any other day, I would take one or two to my chamber and give them what they wanted, but tonight, none of it enticed me. Infact, I was repulsed by it all. Frustration welled up inside me as I wondered why I came out in the first place. I mind linked Kyle, my second in command, that I was leaving. Then I stood up and maneuvered through the crowd and out of the palace.Stepping under the moonlight, it brought me a feeling of peace and serenity. But then a wave of sadness washed over me. It was all useless. I felt stupid for hoping. I couldn't find her all these years. Tonight isn't any different. I felt the all familiar feeling of rage slowly build up at my chest. I needed to breathe or I'll explode. I shifted to my wolf and sprinted into the forest, with the full moon as my onl
**Astrid** I woke up with a gasp. My heart is pounding from the weird dream I had. The dream didn't make any sense, the only thing I remembered was seeing a blue eyed wolf. Slowly, last night's events came rushing back into my mind and I began to adjust to my surroundings. I stared around me in confusion. Sunlight sneaked in from the open window, making me squint my eyes. I recognised the old dressing mirror immediately. I was in my room in the slave quarters. How did I get back here? I began to panic. Was I caught? Am I still dreaming? I immediately pinched myself, and the stinging pain that came after, told me otherwise. I got down from the old mattress I owned and stared at the mirror and my eyes widened in shock. I still had on the clothes I stole and put on. And it's torn appearance and the dirt stains evident on it, told me that last night wasn't a dream at all. It very much happened. I checked my thigh, but there was no sign of an injury. Strange, I thought. The fabric was t
The Alpha stood there, dressed in a white and gold royal apparel that fitted his huge frame perfectly. He was by every inch very attractive. Afraid of being caught ogling the Alpha, I stared down quickly, my hands slightly fidgeting. I was suddenly nervous, and I wasn't sure if it was because of the Alpha's intimidating presence or something else. A desire. After what seemed like an eternity of endless staring, he suddenly walked forward, taking slow steady steps towards me. My heart increased in rhythm and hammered against my rib cage. Astrid! Calm down! I told myself. But how could I when the Alpha of Crescent moon pack stood mere inches from me, so close that his cologne invaded my senses and made me light headed. I slowly looked up at him. From the way his Adam's apple slightly bobbed up and down, to his defined jaw that seemed too perfect to be real, to his full lips, oh, those lips! I wanted so badly to press them against mine, to feel their softness. I gulped slightly. Looking
Lukas's eyes widened in shock, and I relished in the way he sauntered back in fear and submission. No one dared challenge the Alpha to a duel, unless they want to face a very drastic end.“Nobody lays a hand on any human unless they have a justified reason to do so. This meeting is over” I barked out and left the meeting room. Thanks to Lukas, my mood has changed. But he was right. My mother abandoned me as a child and took off with her human lover, leaving me with the little memory I had of her. And the human whom she had sacrificed family for is the same man who caused her death. My blood with rage, as the sight of her lifeless body flashed in my mind. But Lukas was wrong about one thing. I will revenge her death, just not in the normal way. I will ensure that humans are wiped from history, and they cease to exist. They will pay for what was done to my mother. I sighed in frustration. I needed to take a run in the forest and breathe in the cool forest air.As I neared my chamber,
