Until her words filtered into his mind, understanding finally dawning on him, snaking a arm around his mate, he pulled her forward, crushing her against him, “Hush…it’s not what you think.” He soothed against her ear, trying to calm his mate, his hope blossoming, despite the circumstances of their current situation, if Ava was having this kind of reaction, it gave him hope that she would accept the rest of what he had to tell her.
