At quarter to six that evening, Cade was pitching up at his brother’s place uninvited, he had spent most of the afternoon driving around, calming himself down.
Then he had gotten to his place, taken a shower, got ready and made his way to Matt’s home.
Knocking on the door, only to frown as his younger brother, Luke, stood before him, a shit-eating irritating grin on his face, “Say just one word….” Cade threatened, “And I will knock that smile off your face!” Using his large frame to shove his brother aside and entering the house.
Ava had been introduced to the kids earlier on, when she had arrived at Vanessa’s home.First, there was Vanessa and Matt’s kids, a boy and a girl, aged nine and six, the girl being the youngest. Then, she met Luke, Sasha, and their kids, apparently they had been married longer, they had two boys, the oldest being thirteen and the youngest nine and Luke was Cade’s youngest brother.Vanessa had informed Ava, that Cade’s kids were older, already eighteen and that soon they were leaving for college.
Ava gasped, as Cade brushed his lips against hers, her mouth parting, giving him the opportunity to deepen their kiss, pulling her body flush against his.Molding his lips to hers, his tongue dueling with hers, his large body pressing her back into the luxurious lounger cushions, his hand slipping down her body and under the hem of her top, caressing the luscious curves of her body.Ava could only hold on to his broad shoulders, moaning as his hand drifted up her stomach, over her ribs, then stopping between the shallow valley of her breasts, his forefinger lightly grazing the underside of her breast, teasing and taunting her.
The following morning, Cade made his way to Ava’s room, cup of coffee in his hand, a smile on his face. The previous evening had gone well, after dessert, the adults had lingered for a while, then Luke and his family left soon afterwards. He had decided to stay overnight in one of the guest rooms, there was no reason to rush home, especially if his kids were staying over at friends and he rather liked the idea of being near Ava and to be able to see her first thing in the morning.Knocking on her door lightly, he waited a
Whilst Ava had gotten ready, Cade had googled for any store that sold specialty chocolate, that was between his brother’s house and the dealership, that way he could stop on the way as promised and buy some chocolate, after all he didn’t want to disappoint his mate so soon in their relationship. After breakfast, they had gotten into Cade’s truck, he had come by vehicle the previous evening, leaving his Harley at home.Happy and content, as he watched with amusement, as Ava devoured the chocolate he had bought.
Cade had barely reached Matt’s office, when he gets a call, looking at the caller ID, he frowns and looks back at Vanessa, who is staring directly at him, pressing the answer button, “You better get here quick…” Was the only thing that Vanessa said before he could even say a word?Confused, he walked back to her, “What the hell is going on…?” He asked Vanessa, stopping at her desk, noting that Ava wasn’t nearby, his eyes scanning the area, finally landing on her small form standing to the far side.“Ava just received some bad news…” Vanessa explained, “And I don’t th
At the airport it was a rush for Ava, her flight was already boarding, she had been able to get an available seat on one of the flights that was going towards the coastal city, near her hometown. From there, she needed to hire a vehicle or catch an available shuttle that went towards the small town a few hours away from the main city and then go directly to the hospital.Just as she got to the boarding gate, she turned towards Cade, sadness in her eyes, “Thank you for everything…” She began, “I don’t know when I will see you again…”
The following morning, Cade was up early, too excited to stay in bed, he had taken a run the previous evening near Ava’s home, his wolf wanting to be near, having stayed hidden in the bushes, he watched his mate move around in her home, only leaving when she had retired for the evening, somewhat satisfied that she was safe. The message he had received from his bodyguards was a bit worrisome, they mentioned scenting another wolf near Ava’s home, yet they could not determine if it was a passing wolf or something else.Cade had also informed the residing Alpha in Ava’s town of his presence and that of his pack members.
Ava could not stop laughing, at first, she had been surprised and shocked at his manhandling, but she rather liked the possessive dominant vibe that Cade was emitting, choosing to remain still and enjoy the ride.Having reached the inside of Ava’s home, Cade made sure that the dogs had followed them in, closing and locking the front door behind them, before he lowered Ava back down onto her feet, cupping her face and finally giving her a passionate kiss, one that made up for the time that they had been apart. Finally, they broke apart, breathing heavily.
Cade stood at the altar, a smile on his face, as he watched his mate walk down the aisle towards him.Her cream-colored empire wedding dress accentuating her beauty.A lacy fitted bodice skimming her full breasts, dipping into a V at the front, a wide sash just beneath her bust, then chiffon flowing down towards the ground, her feet covered in dainty ballet shoes. Her hair flowing freely behind in silken waves, only a simple halo of flowers on her head.Ava had wanted to keep things simple and didn’t want to draw too much attention. But, the cat was out of the bag, as he grinned at his mate, his smile widening as she rolled her eyes at him, a quirky smile on her lips.He could only chuckle, as his gaze skimmed down, landing on her small protruding belly, both him and his wolf puffing up in pride and arrogance, knowing that they were still highly fertile and virile.Their mate was pregnant. For a brief moment, he wan
It was the grating sound, like nails along a chalkboard, which woke Ava up, chilling her to the bone, she had been in and out of it for a while.Since her capture, a sense of time had evaded her mind, unsure of where or how she got here or even how long she had been in this place. Here, being a dark and danky place, the smell of mildew surrounding her.She was unable to move, having noted during her waking moments, that she was tightly tied down, her hands tied behind her back, her feet apart, the rope firmly tying them around the chair’s legs.Another rope tied around her waist, keeping her upright in her seat. Her head ached, especially at the back, the memories crashing into her conscience, as she remembered bits and pieces, of how she had gotten into this dire situation. The first emotion being anger, as she lifted her head and gazed at the monster before her, the one who had put her in this predicament, the one who had falsely thr
Cade hightailed it too the designated location, mindless of the speed he was travelling. His brother’s tone and a sense of foreboding urging for him to get there as soon as possible. The address given by his brother was an old abandoned motel, just a few miles north of where Ava’s hometown was, it had taken him just under thirty minutes to get there, would have been more if he had been driving a car, but since he had his bike, he could easily zip in and out of traffic.Stopping beside his brother’s truck, Cade took off his helmet, taking in the surrounding area, it was a little bit off the beaten track, slightly tucked away, the tropical growth starting to take over, camouflaging the abandoned building, anyone passing on the main road, would not have known that this was here.“Matt…” He called out, wondering where they were as he made his way towards the building, surely they would have heard him, it’s not like h
In the early hours of the next morning, while Ava slept peacefully, Cade had gone over the previous day’s events. The barbeque had gone off without a hitch, it had been a success, despite the issue of the threat hovering in the background or Ava’s sister surly mood.Everyone had retreated to their homes, with promise of meeting up again often. The two dogs still had to be taken by his brothers, Cade didn’t want any distractions, especially since his ex was still out there, nobody had been able to find her, the tech guys were working their butt off trying to ping an exact location, tracking her phone, but each time they got close, it seemed to escape their grasp at the last second and go off the radar.Even his trackers had reached a dead end, the scent on the note had taken them round and round, like a merry-go-round, it was like someone had dropped the note from above. If he believed his ex could fly, he would have thought that s
“Finally…” Matt teased, entering Ava’s home a few hours later, “Was wondering when you guys were coming up for air.”“Hush…” Vanessa, his wife scolded, “You are no better, given the opportunity.”Matt grinned at his wife, “True…” Agreeing with her.The Hunter clan all filed in, adults and kids, filling Ava’s home with laughter and noise.Ava was introduced to Cade’s kids first, she was nervous, but they seemed to genuinely accept her place in their Dad’s life, both embracing her whole-heartedly.Then his parents were introduced, they had come down with Luke and his family.Ava had also invited her parents and her sister, her parents had gotten on well with everybody at the first introduction.Though her sister, Claire was a different issue, she stood apart, watching proceedings with a slight upward tilt to her nose.Ava and
After having taken care of her needs, Ava sat back contently in Cade’s embrace. He had explained everything on what had happened while she had been out, as well as explain to her the transformation that had happened once he had marked her.Of course, there would be more questions, but at that moment, she just wanted to savor the feel of having his arms around her, her body lax and content. They had moved outdoors, laying in the large hammock, under the shade of a large tree, each enjoying the peace and quiet.Even if it would only be temporarily, both knowing that a threat still lurked nearby.Cade held Ava in his embrace, her head on his chest, his hand stroking her back absentmindedly, ““You know, I would like for you to meet the rest of my family...especially my kids.” He began, might as well get this over with, his kids had been nagging to meet Ava from the get go…but he had been reluctant, wanting first to form a
Satisfaction coursed through Cade, his wolf retreating to the back of his mind, curling up contently, happy in the knowledge that they had finally marked their mate.Cade gazed tenderly at his mate, as she lay lax against his chest, it was natural with the marking, for the mate to black out, it would take a couple of hours before she woke up, nature’s way of getting to work, her body preparing for the transformation, especially since she was a human. If she had been a werewolf, the time would have been shortened by half, the only difference between a werewolf female and a human, was that the werewolf only required the change of status, whereas a human not only went through the status of her werewolf partner, but her body was also gaining some of the werewolf qualities required to complete the transformation.Contently he gazed at his mark, only other werewolves would be able to see it, the human eye would be unable to detect it.Currently it looked
Stunned, Cade could only stare at Ava, barely moving, barely taking a breath, worried that if he moved, that whatever he thought he might have heard, be only in his imagination, in his dreams... Feeling somewhat embarrassed and out of her element, Ava was wondering if she was mistaken, that perhaps Cade was having second thoughts, his stillness and silence stretching into a uncomfortable length, the seconds, minutes ticking by since her declaration. Having lost patience at the continued silence, Ava decided in that moment, that it was either better to tuck in her tail and run or fight, perhaps she was wrong, that all of this was not worth the stress and grief, she was currently suffering. “Well…apparently I was wrong, clearly all the hogwash about wanting me, loving me, marking me was all bullshit!” She lashed out in anger, reverting to her protective shell, it was either fight or flight and since she was tired of running, she decided to stand her ground, she
“So what do we do now?” Ava asked, her sweet voice penetrating his rage-fuelled mind. Those who knew him would know that Ava was his true mate, only a true mate would be able to calm the beast within. “Well, it depends, on what is decided in the next few moments, we can carry on where we were last at, before we were rudely interrupted or we confront the elephant in the room, in this case…Sharon.” He answered, hoping that they could continue on the former, rather than the latter. Typical…men all around the universe only thought with one head at a time, always guaranteed to be the one below their belt, huffing in frustration, crossing her arms, she glared at Cade, “I was querying about your ex…!” She elaborated, getting to the point. Muttering under his breath, “There is nothing we can do, until Sharon is found and brought to justice, we will stay here, under the protection of the guards, my brothers will notify me immediately of any news or findings.”
