47: Minute after

Alora’s POV

With a heavy sigh, I rolled away from Rune, my body still aching from the intensity of what had just transpired between us. For a moment, I stayed there, curled up on my side, the sheets tangled around me.

This time, he didn’t stop me. He let me go, and didn't reach for me like before. The silence stretched on, heavy with unspoken words neither of us dared to voice.

I could feel his presence lingering beside me for a while longer, the weight of his gaze almost palpable as it rested on my back.

After a few moments, I heard him move, the bed shifting as he stood up. Every sound sharper than it should have been in the quiet room.

I didn't turn around to look at him, my eyes fixed on the far wall, my mind swirling with thoughts I didn’t want to face. Part of me wanted to say something, to ask him what now, but the words lodged in my throat.

What was I expecting? An apology? A confession? Something more than just the usual aftermath of our encounters? I wasn’t sure. I
