Alexandra’s POV

I collapsed onto the floor, exhausted from the long run, while transforming back to my human form. My jawline throbbed, still adjusting to its human shape.

But the physical pain was nothing compared to the guilt consuming me.

Nova's terrified eyes haunted me. I'd almost hurt her, lost control, and succumbed to my wolf’s fury.

*We almost hurt them*, my wolf corrected.

"God, what have I done?" I muttered, burying my face in my hands.

I'd been avoiding Nova, ashamed of my monstrous act.

The distance was eating me up and leaving nothing but longing. I wanted her near me so desperately, yet I was too dangerous for her fragility.

I want to have her in my arms; her lavender scent is so soft and calming.

Dammit!

She is the only wolf keeping me sane, yet I had almost hurt her.
