Nova’s POV.
Five years later... I pulled up to Amelia’s cozy house, Lily chatting excitedly in the backseat. Amelia has always been kind and helpful to us since we moved here five years ago. Lily felt comfortable with her, so I knew she would be well taken care of. "Mommy, I'll see you tomorrow, right?" she asked, her big brown eyes sparkling. "Baby. Be good for Amelia, okay?" I replied, smiling. Lily nodded, already distracted by her favorite cartoon playing on Amelia’s tablet. I hugged her tight, inhaling her sweet scent. "Love you, kiddo," I whispered. "Love you too, Mommy," she replied, squirming free. Amelia smiled warmly as she took Lily's hand. "Stay safe babes." I glanced at the clock – 8:45 PM. My shift at Eclipse Nightclub started at 9 PM. Lily is unaware of my job at the bar, and I intended to keep it that way, wanting to shield her from the realities of that environment. My job at the bar paid well. It was a necessary sacrifice to ensure Lily had the best opportunities in life. I rushed out, speeding toward the club. Traffic crawled, every red light taunting me. Finally, I arrived at 9:10 PM, flustered and breathless. "Hey, Nova! You're late," my colleague, Marcus, said, frowning. He has always been the one to cover up for me whenever I get late. "Sorry, Marcus. Traffic was a nightmare," I replied, hastily changing into my uniform. I clocked in and rushed to the bar, greeting the regulars with a forced smile. Another long night ahead. As I poured drinks and managed tables, my mind wandered to Lily, she was my ray of hope. This job wasn't glamorous, but it paid the bills. And for Lily's sake, I'd do anything. “Hey Nova, take the drinks to the VIP section,” Marcus says pushing forward the tray. “Hell no, please” I declined dread washing over me. The customers in the VIP are perverts and very disrespectful towards ladies. They are elite after all, and they can get anything with a snap of their fingers. Marcus sighed, “You know that only ladies are allowed in there, besides Emily is busy with the others,” he said. My wolf growled hating the idea as much as I do. I gulped down a lump picked up the tray and walked towards the section. I mumbled curses under my breath as I walked into the place. As I walked through the plush couches and dim lighting, my eyes scanned the room, assigning tables to memorize drink orders. That's when I saw him. Ice-blue eyes locked onto mine, familiar yet unsettling. My wolf growled, hackles raised. Shit, my thighs rubbed together as I bit on my lower lip. Somehow the face looked oddly familiar like we had crossed paths before. I approached the table, keeping a straight face. "Here are your orders,” I announce disposing of the tray on the center table. Those piercing eyes held me captive. Chiseled features, sharp jawline, and raven-black hair framed his face. Despite appearing to be in his mid-thirties, he exuded an ageless allure. My wolf's unease transformed into desire, something I hadn’t felt for years. Fuck! Who is this man? I tore my gaze away, discomfort burning within. As I turned to leave, a hand was held on my wrist. "Hey, don't go," one of the men said, his voice slurred. "Join us. Have some fun." I tried to pull free, but his grip tightened. "I'm not interested," I said firmly, trying to keep my composure. The man's smile turned ugly. "Come on, just one drink." I struggled to break free, but he held fast. That's when the man with the ice-blue eyes stood up, his eyes flashing with authority. "Let her go, Julian." Julian's grin faltered, and he released my wrist. "Sorry, man," Julian muttered, backing off. The man’s gaze met mine, a flicker of something unexpected there. I tore my gaze away rushing out of the suffocating place. The rest of the night went by like a blur and my shift was over. I got ready to leave pulling my jacket on and letting loose of my hair. “Goodnight Marcus” I bid him farewell. I followed through the back of the club, the place as quiet as ever. I pulled out my phone from my back pocket to check the time when I felt my body being pushed to the wall. My eyes met with Julian’s ugly smugness. “I can’t let a good slut go to waste,” he says before driving into his lips to kiss on my neckline. “What are you doing? Let go of me, please” I cried out trying to snatch myself away from him but who was I kidding he was way stronger than me. “C’mon, we both know you’re enjoying this, just loosen up” he states trying to claim my lips but I turn my face away which has him hissing in frustration. He pulled on my shirt, the fabric tearing and displaying my lacy bra. His hands went down to my jeans, I could almost feel his hands slipping into my panties. “Stop! Please” I pleaded. “I’m going to fuck you like the slut you—“ he didn’t get to end his statement cause he landed on the ground. My heart deopped as I sucked in a harsh breath turning to meet with his ice blue orbs. He launched on Julian and they both engaged in a fight with Julian being hit black and blue. I shivered in fear seeing how merciless the man worked his muscles. I tried to run but my legs won’t comply. I drew to the ground breaking into sobs. “Are you okay?” He asks reaching to touch me but I hurridly bolt up and run off as fast as my feet can take me. My heart hammered as those icy blue eyes clicked back to my head almost as though we had crossed paths with that man. Just who is he? And why did he smell like trouble?Nova’s PovI rushed to Amelia's apartment my heart rate escalating with each step I took. Tears streamed down my face as I replayed the night's events. That man... those icy blue eyes... the way he'd commanded Julian to release me.I wiped away tears, taking a deep breath. My wolf and I were still shaken. There was no denying it – he was an Alpha. His presence exuded dominance, power, and control. I'd never encountered anyone like him before.Four years in this city, and I'd never met another wolf. It was as if I was the only one of my kind, hiding in plain sight. But he... he was different. As I climbed the stairs to Amelia's apartment, my mind whirled.Who was he? What was his name? And why did he seem so familiar? My mind ran with different thoughts as I marched to Amelia’s doorstep. There is something about him, that I can’t seem to fathom. Just what is it?I pushed open the door, and Amelia enveloped me in a warm hug."Nova, what's wrong?" she asked, concern etched on her face.I
Nova’s POV I quickly got ready, my mind racing with possibilities. This job could change everything for Lily and me. I don’t know why I had received that email but it was an opportunity that I couldn’t afford to lose. Downstairs, Lily chattered excitedly with Amelia as they made breakfast. "Mommy, can we go get ice cream after school?” I smiled, kneeling beside her. "Sweetie, Mommy has a job interview today. Amelia will take you to school, okay?" Lily's face fell, but she nodded. "Sorry, baby. I promise I'll make it up to you tonight." I hugged her tight, kissing her forehead. "Love you, kiddo." "Love you too, Mommy," she replied, waving goodbye. As I watched Amelia drive away with Lily, my anxiety spiked. Di Mario Corp's sleek skyscraper loomed before me, its glass facade glinting in the morning light. My heart shivered in fear. What if I messed up? What if I wasn't good enough? What if Alexandra sees that I am not fit enough and it was a mistake ever con
Nova’s POV My first day at Di Mario Corp. I wanted to make a perfect impression. Before heading to the office, I stopped by a quaint cafe to grab Mr. Di Mario's morning coffee. "One large cappuccino, please. No sugar," I instructed the barista. I checked my watch for the fifth time. 8:45 AM. I was cutting it close. The barista handed me the steaming cup. "Here you go!" I rushed out, careful not to spill a drop. I woke up late today, I had a long movie night with Lily to make up for our ice cream date and I am regretting it now. If only I had gone to bed early, I wouldn’t be in a haste. As I entered the Di Mario Corp building, I bypassed the regular elevators and swiped my VIP access card. The doors slid open, revealing a sleek, mirrored interior. I stepped in, checking my watch again. 8:55 AM. Just as the doors closed, I felt a sudden jolt. The elevator stopped abruptly. The doors reopened, and I stumbled out. Right into Mr. Di Mario. Coffee sp
Nova’s POV I scribbled my signature on the last document, relief washing over me. Finally, done. But exhaustion hit me like a ton of bricks. Mr. Di Mario's plans to make my life miserable for the past week had succeeded. Piles of work, endless meetings, and impossible deadlines. It felt like punishment for the coffee incident. Shouldn’t he be over that for god's sake! It's too much to handle for my poor soul. I have barely been spending time with Lily since I began my job here and I can tell how it is hard for her to adjust to my new schedule but I was doing this for us. And thanks to Amelia’s help, she’s been quite sporty by taking and picking Lily up from school. I rubbed my tired eyes. 8 PM. Time to call it a day. As I packed up, I noticed the lights on in Mr. Di Mario's office. I walked by carefully, avoiding being seen even though i know he could pick up my scent. Curse you Alpha. I can’t afford to have a load of work assigned to me yet again, not when
Nova’s POV I pleaded with Mr. Di Mario, "Please, I'm fine on my own. I don't need your help or want to move in with you." I cried out. But he ignored me, grasping my arm and pulling me away from my apartment. "Let me go!" I demanded, trying to pull away. Tears welled up in my eyes. "Stop struggling, Nova," Mr. Di Mario ordered, his grip tightening. "I won't go anywhere with you!" I protested. I know that life was hard for me and us. Trying to make ends meet has never been an easy job. The housekeeper had sent me a warning a day back and I had pleaded with him to let me get my first salary, which I would pay off and we both agreed to that, I don’t know why he suddenly came to evict me. My heart ached. Thankfully Lilly isn’t here to witness this. Mr Di Mario dragged me toward the car snapping me out of my train of thoughts. "If you want your job, shut up and follow me," he growled. My voice trembled. "You can't do this." Mr. Di Mario opened the car door. "Get in
Alexandra’s POV. I pounded the punching bag, sweat dripping from my brow. Nova's face haunted me - her innocent gaze, her plump lips, curvy shape. My fists struck harder, trying to expel the thoughts. But they only intensified. I desired her, lust burning within me. Nova was attractive in every way - intelligent, fierce, and beautiful. My wolf craved her, sensing the strength and resilience beneath her fragile exterior. "Why does she have to be so stubborn?" I thought. "Why does she have to be the one?" I punched the bag again, my wolf growling in frustration. The memory of Nova's tears, and her trembling voice, only fueled my anger. "Dammit," I muttered. I couldn't shake off the feeling. Nova had burrowed under my skin. And I couldn't deny it - I wanted her. Not just her body, but her heart, her soul. My fists slowed, my chest heaving. My wolf's primal instincts screamed: "Claim her." I couldn’t claim her. I believe I am only infatuated with
Nova’s POV I closed my laptop, finishing work early for the first time in weeks. Since Mr. Di Mario flew out on his business trip, the office has been blissfully calm. No constant monitoring, no condescending remarks. Just peace. Living in his house has been uneventful and I am happy it stays that way. We both are avoiding each other. I make sure to leave the house before he’s ready for work and I come back before or sometimes after him. I just need to stay away from him, as though living with him is nothing short of torture but I am going to make sure it remains that way for as long as I can gather my salary and buy an apartment. And I got to leave early, which meant I had time to get ready for my date with Marcus tonight. I hadn't seen Marcus since I left my job at the bar. We've kept in touch, but life got busy. Tonight was going to be a catch-up session. I was excited to relive old times. Marcus was more than just a friend; he was my confidant. He is one
Nova’s Pov As we pulled into the driveway, my anger simmered. Alexandra had ruined my perfect evening. Or rather saved me! But that’s not the point. I don’t even know when he got back, I thought he was not supposed to be back until next week. I have his every schedule penned down and even though it is none of his concern, I still felt like a thief caught in the act. My cheeks heat up in embarrassment at how he had pulled me away from my almost kiss with Marcus. "Thanks for interrupting my date," I spat, storming out of the car. Alexandra followed, his expression unreadable. "You embarrassed me, Alexandra," I fumed, striding into the house. "Embarrassed you?" he repeated. "Yes!” We entered the living room, and I whirled to face him. "You have no right to meddle in my personal life," I fired. "You're my boss, nothing more. I'll go out with whomever I wish." Alexandra's eyes narrowed his jawline hardening. He was furious and for a second I could swear I
