Lorenzo

I sat in my conference room, trying to focus on the meeting, but my mind kept wandering. Then, my phone beeped, and I glanced down to check the screen. My heart sank as I saw pictures of Toby and Eva circulating on the internet.

They were holding hands, exiting the apartment building, with Eva dressed in a conservative outfit. I felt a surge of anger and betrayal. Why had they disobeyed my instructions to stay indoors?

I couldn't take it anymore. I stood up abruptly, my chair scraping against the floor, and stormed out of the meeting without a word. I didn't care about the shocked faces of my team or the unfinished discussion. All I could think about was confronting Toby and Eva.

As soon as I reached the outside, I swiftly dialed Toby's number, my heart racing with anger. I couldn't wait to hear his explanation for this blatant disregard of my rules.

As soon as Toby picked up, I shouted, "How dare you go against my word? Why did you take her out?"

My arms encircled her waist, pulling her closer. Just as we were lost in the moment, my phone rang, shrill and insistent. I groaned, reluctantly breaking away from Eva's lips. I glanced at the screen, my eyes narrowing at the unknown number. The caller wasn't a saved contact, so I rejected the call, my thumb swiping across the screen with a swift motion. But it wasn't just the lack of sleep that troubled me – it was Eva's confession.Letting out a deep sigh, I tried to rationalize my emotions. "It has happened and well, we don't need to do anything about it. We'll just let it flow," he said, his words dripping with nonchalance.I laughed, a bitter sound that tasted like ash in my mouth, and shook my head so hard my hair whipped around my face.
