As I walked into my apartment, I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease and humiliation that lingered from the encounter with those girls earlier. Their mocking words and sneers still echoed in my mind, making my skin crawl.

I felt emasculated, embarrassed, and angry all at once. The memory of their taunts sent a shiver down my spine, and I couldn't help but wonder why they had to be so cruel. They couldn't even spare to hear my side of the story.

Even when I tried to push the thoughts aside and focus on unwinding after a long day, the sting of their words still ran around my mind, and just as I was starting to calm down, my phone rang, breaking the silence. It was Thelma, my sister.

"Hey, sis," I answered, trying to sound cheerful despite the turmoil still brewing inside me.

"Eva, I need a favor," Thelma said, sounding stressed. "I'm out of cash, and my salary hasn't arrived yet. Can you please lend me some money?"
