CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

ALPHA KING EDEN

The palace was steeped in heavy silence, an atmosphere of dread hanging over every corridor and chamber.

It had been a week since Sara fell ill. I had given her the potion Fisher created for the sickness caused by the curse, her condition showed no signs of improvement.

My heart ached, as I watched how Sara’s usual vibrant presence has now become a shadow of itself. Her once bright eyes are dull and her strength waning.

I was always at her bedside, my eyes were fixed on her with a mixture of desperation and helplessness.

The evening sun dipped below the horizon and the room was bathed in the soft glow of candlelight.

My heart broke as I watched Sara struggle to draw each breath. I felt a pang of guilt , a nagging voice in the back of my mind questioning if I had somehow failed her. Had I overlooked something? Was there more I could have done to protect her?
