CHAPTER SIXTY-SEVEN

SARA

The morning light filtered softly through the curtains of the room, gently waking me. I stretched lazily, the bed feeling emptier without Eden by my side.

For a moment, I smiled, thinking he might have returned, imagining his strong arms wrapped around me, keeping me close.

The room was silent, and the hope in my heart faltered as I realized I was still alone. With a sigh, I got up, my bare feet making light taps on the wooden floor as I made my way downstairs.

My heart held a flicker of hope as I entered the kitchen, expecting to find Eden there, but instead, It was Fisher who greeted me. He sat at the table, sipping his morning tea, his wise eyes meeting mine.

“Have you heard from the Alpha? I asked, my voice betraying my anxiety.

Fisher looked up, a gentle smile spreading across his face, but his response was not what I wanted to hear.

“No,” he replied simply, the smile never leaving his face. It was a smile meant to reassure, but it only made my worry grow.
